With a 16 month old and nursing school starting in August, I am busy! I've great COTH'er ride my guys for the past 2 years, and she's moving upstate for school, so I'm looking for another person to enjoy any or all of them. Here are the specifics:

ON FARM LEASES ONLY-no exceptions.

Yankee is an 11 YO Bay TB gelding and is 16.2 hands. Very well trained guy, gorgeous, easy to ride, safe, and fun. Easy to work with and sensible. Has competed Novice level eventing, has also shown 1st level Dressage, and done some hunter shows. He's been in work and has gone xc schooling 4 times so far this year. Delightful horse to ride!

Gizmo is a 14 hand paint pony who is pretty close to bombproof! Easy pony, acts like a horse, no sneaky pony issues! My 6 YO niece rides him and he's an angel. Jumps small stuff easily, was shown in the local hunters before we bought him, and won a CT last year on his dressage score. Has been xc schooling and trail riding, gets a little more "up" for that, but not hard to handle.

Scamper-12.3 hand bay grade pony. SUPER CUTE and in your pocket! He was bought for my son when my son was 7months old! He gives leadline rides to him while I hold on to my son, and someone leads him. Has been ridden by a small adult, but shouldn't carry over 100 pounds. Not a very well-schooled pony, but safe and quiet, and a very cute mover. Could use some finishing touches, but for someone to play around on, he would suit just fine!

For Yankee, I would want an educated and soft rider who appreciates a really nice horse, and for the ponies, a kid or small adult who wants to piddle around and have a cute face to brush is just fine.

I live in Southern Delaware (Bridgeville to be exact). All you would have to do is show up, tack up, and ride. I have an arena that is 150 x 200, lots of jumps, a smaller ring, and have access to trails on the farm. Redden State Forest is only 5 minutes away, and I would be willing to haul there if you wanted to trail ride on occasion. I am willing to haul to local shows, events, schoolings, etc. as my time permits, but rider would cover all expenses related to that. It doesn't matter to me if the horses are shown or not, but the rider would have that option. This could be an awesome deal for someone who cannot afford horses, or really wants to ride and doesn't have a farm, etc. My trainer comes to the farm for lessons (she events and has reasonable fees), so you could take lessons as well if you wanted. This would work as a free lease and the person would only have to pay for any gas, showing, lessons, etc. I will cover all vet, farrier, care, etc.

Please email me at allisontatman@verizon.net

Please feel free to pass this along to anyone you think may be interested-thanks! I can email pics!

Have you thought about posting your boys on the Eastern free spirits list?

Hi Allison,

Congrats on your pregnancy!

I read the details and this would be perfect for me (horseless rider) but alas, I am not quite close enough (3 hours away). Your boys and ring/trail access sound great. Good luck with your search and hope you find good riders for them!

Allison,
I do live somewhat near you (Lewes). I'm not horseless, but I know there aren't many of us lower DE riders on this site. I'd be more then happy to come work them as my schedule allows until you find a more permanent ride for them. Let me know if you need anything ...

Tenley (email Tenley@aol.com)

PS Congrats on the pregnancy ....

Allison,
I am horseless and desperate to ride. I live in Rehoboth Beach and go to school in Georgetown. Maybe we could work something out where I could come exercise them in between classes. Send me a PM if it sounds like something you would be interested in.

Would you consider allowing either horse to travel to southern NJ? 25 minutes north of the Delaware Mem bridge.

Jersey Girl,

These are both strictly on-farm leases at my farm...just cannot bear to let either one go! Thanks for your interest though!

Bumping for Allison. I know these horses and ponies and they are wonderful. What a deal. The farm is great, people are nice. Ride a nice horse for free! Doesn't have to be every day, schedule it in.
In addition two of the three would hunt, (well probably the little pony if fit) and Wicomico Hunt is the local one, many fixtures within an hour of the farm. Anyone?

Hi,
Do you know how far you are from Chestertown, MD?
Thanks!

Thanks Holly (Rereadeventer)! I forgot about hunting, Yankee and Gizmo would probably be fine, Gizmo has already mock-hunted! Scamper would probably do it, too, with a little rider!

TotheMAX-I'm an h our away from Chestertown, let me know if you are interested-thanks!

If I find someone to lease/buy my mare I would totally be interested in Yankee (I'm 5'10 so the ponies would hate me LOL) - I'm in Fenwick/Selbyville area.

I will pass the word around for you though and I second posting them on the Eastern Shore Free Spirits board or Farmers & Planters!

I can vouch that Yankee is a very nice, well schooled boy. We went to try him when he had been listed for sale and he was a very good boy for my somewhat timid rider. My son was just coming off a pony so the fit was not quite right for him at the time. Anyone would be lucky to have a free lease on this horse!

Thanks so much, greymare! I think I've found a great match for him, she's only been out twice and already says she's in love!
