No pictures this time but we did our 2nd every training level 1 test (and our canter still needs work) but we scored a 64.3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1:eek::eek: I couldn't believe it!!! USDF watch out next year for us because here we come  Its been such a hard road but I'm so glad I've taken with him. He is improving drastically each week that its unbelievable now. Hopefully he'll get those 69's like in intro once we get that canter going really nice and oh MY RIDER SCORE IMPROVES LOL, but thats still a work in progress to but I'm hoping a 7 isn't to horrible.

Thanks, it was amazing. My trainer was so proud. We got 1st out of the 17 there :D:D I was just really worried about my leg. I'm still wondering if I'm in to much of a chair seat. My trainer says it looks better and its getting there but shes not going to say it looks like crap

you look great :)

once you find your "seat" you will feel much more secure in your contact and balance.

can you get longe lessons?

No I can't. This is my guy and my trainer comes here. I could probably try it with him. He does lunge, I just don't know what he'd do  We could try it and see what happens though. He gets a little antsy on the lunge, I think previous lunge experiences have probably not been so great ;)

Never.:)

Usually, a person competes at one level per year (intro and training 1 is like a level ;)), and unless the person can attend a lot of shows in a single season, it's hard to show at say, 2 shows and be solid enough in that short a time to move up.

While they are competing at that level, they're schooling at the next level at home. Once the 'next' level is solid, 'in your sleep' and all the tests at that level are easy and the instructor feels it's good to go, then they go to show at the next level. That usually winds up being 1 level a year.

Some people will be taking more lessons a week and going to more shows, and can 'compress' more work into a shorter time frame. Too, if your horse and you are very good at the canter already, training level 3/4 might be an easy transition for you, but you may want to break 60% at training 1 or 2 first.

But one level a year is usual.

;) Gotcha, I was a little confused, usually your nice to me :D No we are staying at tadpole level (we do c/t's) that is intro b test and just started the training level 1 test. We will be staying with tl 1 this year until the canter is right. We'll see what happens  I probably won't be going to 3/4 unless his canter just get wonderful. I like to be very prepared to move up for a test thats why we didn't do like a lot of people and jump right to training level and did the intro. Until we can score 65 or above consistantly in training 1 we won't go to the next test  I want to be as correct as possible for myself and my horse and for the sport of dressage and this is why I ask all the time on here hows it look like its going for us and I get more than one persons view. :D

my sense of humor is a little warped, that's all.

still, anyone who scores over 68% on anything is a rock star.

69% is wonderful. You and your horse are a very nice match. Love the attitude. You look great. If longeing is a problem, bareback riding can be a great way to develop your seat and rythym for dressage.

Well I didn't get any photos this last show because my camera is full from vacation photos that I hadn't printed out yet. The real crappy thing was the video camera battery died right before my training level test so I didn't get any photos or video.  I have video from our first one and pictures where we got a 58 but after 2 weeks of practice its went to a 64.3 I can't wait to see what happens in 6 months. Its such an accomplishment for this horse and it makes you feel so good when your the one that puts that time and hard work in it.

BUTTTTT You guys on here have helped alot!!! I always post and ask your opinions, and some may be brutal, but they have made me try even harder and look where its getting us. THanks so much guys!!:D

OH yea, the class was 6 riders that I took 1st and I got 2nd (after my trainer) in 13 training level test 1 riders that day!!! My trainer was extremly happy we took 1st and 2nd all day (she is bringing along a new horse)

Congratulations! I'd like to comment on the longeing. Often, horses are very different on the longe when there's a rider on board. My horse is a great example. Every now and then, he has what I call "episodes" on the longe -- he's going along very nicely, and then BOOM! Buck! Fart! Zoom! and then right back to work. But he's never ever done this when there's a rider on for a longe lesson. You might try your horse on the longe, holding the reins loosely, and see whether he's reliable. He might surprise you.
