I have a student that while she is only just about to turn 12, she is TALL - heck, my 17" saddle is too small for her, lol. Anyway, while her mother wants to wait on actually purchasing a horse, she did say that she would be interested in leasing one. The entire family enjoys riding, so the horse would need to be kick along quiet. here is what they would be looking for:
Height - he/she would need to be at least 16 hands to fit this still growing kid.
Breed - Anything would do, but I think that a draftie cross would be a lovely fit.
Temperament - My student can tend to get moody, so she really needs something even keeled and quiet.
Training - My student is walking and trotting solidly, and just starting to canter, and has hopped over a cross rail a few times. She is quiet with her hands, but has naturally really strong legs, so a horse that is overly sensitive to leg aides would not be a good match for her.
Age - Doesn't really matter, so as long as it's sound and sane.
The horse would have great turn out, a stall when really hot or cold - and just a great life in general. For now, my student would not be riding the horse unless I was there giving her instruction, until I feel she has reached the point of going solo. Of course the horse would be spoiled endlessly, and the owner would get ample updates.
if you feel you have such a horse, that is looking for an 11 year old girl to spoil rotten, please send me an email, PM, or you can call me at: 770-252-8289
