I'm excited now. They're using Oxygen and MSNBC for the Dressage, so I'll be able to watch! Last time 'round, they put things on Bravo, which is not offered on cable in my service area. And I confess I didn't want to switch to a dish network just for the Olympics, because my cable service (just standard, non-digital) is pretty much hassle-free (I know! Go figure!)

Hahahahahah..

10 AM-6 PM....

we will be lucky if there are TWO MINUTES of horse stuff during this entire period of time.

Like NBC is going to station entire camera crews in Hong Kong, as opposed to picking up feed from European crews--who WILL be there, I'm sure.

Yoo-hoo, Canadian neighbors-- are you going to have any actual blocks of time dedicated to actually covering HORSE stuff at Hong Kong?

Sigh.

I wish there was a way to pick up European TV coverage.

Since the Olympic Equestrian Games are at HongKong we probably only will have coverage from the big equestrian countries.

But I promise you that I am going to point my satelite disc to HongKong.;)

In 2004 and at WEG there was a Cdn cable channel (Country Canada) that had fabulous equestrian coverage...alas, it has been bought by boring CBC, so no more horse sport :(.
I've been trying to find an internet feed, but no luck so far. North American coverage is pretty much contolled by NBC...the only clips from them will be USA medal wins or disasters!

Does any one know of a way to get the EuroSport channel in the US ? They show equestrian sports often as part of their regular programming.

Thanks.

Update..my friend Declan (on this BB) informed me that her internet search was more succesful than mine... there is a cable channel (at least in Canada) called 'Bold' that will be showing extensive Olympic equestrian coverage (maybe used to be Country Canada? - however these things work..) Check out 'Bold' cable...

Are you sure? My mother was telling me she just re-purchased this channel as they allow a special rate for the Olympics and promise Equestrian events this summer from Bejing?

The last summer olympics had far more coverage of BEACH VOLLEYBALL than equestrian events. Kinda tells you something about Americans, and it isn't good :)

Here's a link to the entire .pdf of the schedule that NBC released a couple of weeks ago. It has the streaming information as well as the broadcast/cable info. It is, as noted, subject to change:

http://nbcumv.com/special/S__Press_DEPTS_NBCMV_Press_Kits_2008_olympics_sche dule08.pdf

As for Eurosport, I think the only way you may be able to get it in North America is if you have a big satellite dish. But here's the Wikipedia entry for it, which explains better what it does and where than its own website does. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eurosport

I put on Oxygen at 6:00 PM, and all that's on is tennis!

They HAVE had the eventing coverage on the past couple days, so I was hopeful that they would continue to be true to the posted schedule!

Anyone else having this same problem, or is *my* Oxygen channel suddenly F*ed up?!?

Where's that swearing icon when you need it??? :P

:sigh:

Cripes, when I checked about 20 minutes ago, they still had a full set to go; one can only hope that they will at least *try* to show SOME dressage after the damn tennis game is over!

(Or maybe tennis will take up the entire two hours, and after that we will return to our "regularly scheduled Oxygen programming" consisting of "Tori and Dean", and including every trite and excruciating detail of their over-exposed existences ....Sorry, but I am just POed at the horse programming getting bumped YET AGAIN!!!!!)

Okay, okay, there could have been more, but wasn't it great to see those four rides? I am totally in love with Mythilus! This was the first time I have seen Courtney King-Dye ride. Very beautiful, classical style! They are poetry together! What talent! She will be fun to watch for a long time....

I have the Bold Channel which was once known as Country Canada and is run by "boring old CBC".

I have already recorded EVERY SINGLE ride of the dressage so far. Tomorrow they are also showing the grand prix special in it's entirety.

Go CBC, go Bold! This is also the program which Cara Whitham commentates on, her insight as an O judge is really good. By the time the olympics are over I will have been able to watch every dressage and show jumping ride!

Whohooo!

Oh, I thought dressage was done, because they were talking about who won "Team" and who won "Individual" so I thought it was combined.

So there is still an Individual competition? Are there any freestyles in it, or is it just the GP tests?

I am getting my exercise keeping this at the top!
