I just got a yearling filly. My very first youngin'. And I would like to get her approved and registered.
My problem is that I don't know which registries she is eligible for.
She is by the holsteiner stallion Secret Agent. And out of a mare by Kirkes, a selle francais.
Here is what i know of her pedigree:
http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/zerendipity
but i am not sure that that is the correct Grundstein, as it gave me a few different options.
All i know about the parents' approvals is that Secret Agent is approved AHHA. I know nothing about the dam, yet.
If anyone knows any information about this dam, or can help me fill in the holes in the pedigree, it would be greatly appreciated!

The mare is a registered Selle Francais mare, registered as "Cheval de Selle" which means although her sire Kirkes (better known as Bonjour) was an approved stallion with the Selle Francais her dam was considered a foreign saddle horse. That could mean either her dam was not eligible for Selle Francais approval or she was never presented to the French for approval. I got this information from the French Selle Francais website "les Haras Nationaux".
I don't know anything about the AHHA but you could call them and ask about registration for your filly using the above information.
Hope this helps and good luck.

Thanks for the info!
The woman I got her from seems to think that she is eligible for AHHA registration. I sure hope so!
Did the site you got the info from contain more of the dam's pedigree? I would love to fill Zarina's out all the way.

I filled in some pedigree for you. Check your pedigree inquiry link. But the French site cut me off from the rest -- it may just be down. I will check again later to fill in the dam side for you.

Most WB registries based on the European models would not give the filly full registration papers if the dam was never enrolled into the registry's mare books. Do you know why the dam was never inspected?

Exactly!
Is there any chance that the owner of the mare would present the mare to the American Holsteiner Association? If not, contact the AHHA and ask them if they will inspect your filly and what registration options you have.

Unfortunately, at this time I know absolutely nothing about the dam. I'm working on getting more information though.
Here's another question: If I were to skip the yearling inspections and just take her in a few years for mare approvals, would she be eligible then? I know some different breeds of mares can be approved, so maybe this would be the way to go?

I filled in the last pedigree info on the dam side that I can find. You now only have one mare "missing" in your 5 generations.
As far as the breed registries, I think they all would require your filly to be registered in order to present her for breeding approval. If not, the resulting foal would most likely only be eligible for "certificate of pedigree" papers.

I don't know what AHHA's policies are regarding unregistered mares, but Oldenburg (GOV), for instance, places these mares in its lowest mare book, PMB-II (assuming they would even take the mare). Their foals by approved stallions are eligible for registration papers, but if the dam comes into the registry without registration papers of her own, then her side of the pedigree will be listed as "unknown" in the foal's registration papers. Foals out of these mares are not eligible for foal premiums and colts are not eligible for consideration as stallion prospects, and it takes four generations for filly descendants of these mares to be eligible for Main Mare Book, but at least it gives a starting place for a nice mare that is lacking in registration papers. I've had two PMBII mares (mother and daughter), and it doesn't bother me one bit - their mare book placement has no bearing on their quality, and their foals get authentic Oldenburg registration papers, which is the important part of the equation.

Lucky you to have a Secret Agent filly! He is a gorgeous boy himself (and very sweet) and what a jumper! And the offspring of his I have seen are really nice.
Here are some pictures of two Secret Agents I snapped last year - they were both three years olds as I recall

I have a bunch of pictures of Secret Agent himself I could dig up if you wanted those too :)

In addition, with a yearling, most registries would also require a copy of the breeding certificate and DNA proof of parentage.

If you brought the mare, as a 3 year old for mare book placement, with the ISR/OLDNA she could be approved for the ISR mare book which would give her foals the ISR brand and full registration papers with all the known pedigrees filled in. After so many premium quality foals, her other foals would be eligible for the OLDNA brand and papers.
