ljs - are you taking your Escudo's? If so, I'd love to hear what the judges thought

Will be taking one of them. He is sold so I hope he does well for his new owner.

If anyone can let us know how it goes, it would be greatly appreciated! At the time that I volunteered to help at the VADA/Nova Youth Challenge, I was even thinking about upcoming inspections so I will miss this one.

When exactly is the inspection? There is a stallion I have been invited to look at, but I haven't been able to find out the dates.

My first try at an update got vaporized.
The short version:
Donarweiss GGF was licensed, high score mare was Conturri (Contucci), one of the top colts was by Comic.
Special thanks to Kris Schuler (Edgewood) for the help in the walk ring - esp in that heat!

Judges were Dr. Ludwig Chrismann, Manfred Schaffer (President of GE Han Verband), Suzanne Quarles, Judy Hedreen, Mary Giddeons (sp?).
Top Hanoverian mare was awesome (overall 8.0 mare). Second mare was a beautiful Royal Prince (her name is Raja - don't remember the rest of the breeding)
Top colt was a Royal Prince out of a Rivermann daughter (and the judges LOVED him). Top filly was by Contucci out of a Cordoba - Weltmeyer mare.
Laurie's (clearblue) Cor Noir mare is SUPER (both in conformation and movement and deserved her high score). She is a the granddaughter of Lauries' foundation TB mare. (Glad I could help out in the walk ring!).

I was there spectating and had a great time! I was wondering did they give a reason as to why they did not approve the other stallion? This was my first inspection so I was learning alot!

Donarweiss GGF and Davidor? I think was the name? Donarweiss passed but the other stallion did not and I am confused because they did not give a reason out loud? I was curious since I am new to this whole thing?

They never give reasons out loud to the audience for the stallions; only privately to the stallion owners.

Davidor is a pretty interesting case. He was licensed by the Hanoverian Verband in Germany but was never actually activated for breeding with the Verband, so AHS insisted that he be inspected. He's a bit of an older style horse, so maybe that is why AHS didn't accept him. It's kind of a shame - he has a solid pedigree and his dam has produced several licensed stallion sons.

Is Davidor approved by other registeries?

I believe he is GOV and Westfalian, and apreantly has a lot of nice babies out there.
He was a bit of the older style, and to me looked like a really short, thick neck, even in his photos, but I didn't get a chance to see him actually move. Does he have a performance record?

Mistyjewell is correct - Davidor is approved for Oldenburg (GOV) breeding, also Westfalen. He showed to Intermediare in Germany with his previous AA owner and was sold to America a few years ago. He is now used primarily as a schoolmaster for his new AA owner and also shows occasionally at PSG and I-1 with Julie Shannon. I have only seen one of his foals – a colt out of a Riverman / Coriander mare. He was only 3 weeks old at his inspection and had a rather plain, old fashioned Donnerhall type head, but he had a LOT of charisma and was a very good mover, with lots of scope and expressiveness in his gaits and excellent elasticity. He rather reminded me of a Don Schufro foal and was awarded a foal premium by the inspectors, who were impressed with his very good engine and balance despite his young age. I think he will make someone a fun riding horse one day.

Sorry for the delay! Here are some more details from the AHS Inspection at Hilltop this weekend.
Two stallions were presented for approval and the Hanoverian stallion Donarweiss GGF (De Niro – Hohenstein), owned by Greengate Farm and managed by Hilltop Farm, earned his stallion approval with judges comments including “loved his rideability” and “matched the market.”
For the Non-Hanoverian Mare Inspections, Albina (Andros – Aladin), owned by Kimberly Brown and NF Amazing (Anhaltiner E – Fruehlingsball), owned by Marie Taylor Emrey, and Laureen 016 (Liostro – Rocadero), owned by EquieSport LLC, were all accepted into the main mare studbook with overall scores of 7 and the Thoroughbred mare Wild Sally, owned by Alexandra Garrity scored 7.16 and was entered into the studbook. High score went to Laurie Cameron’s Uma Corwin CBF (Cor Noir – Ramiro’s Bube) with a score of 7.5, to which the judges’ commented “modern, athletic type we are looking for; nice length of leg; good movement.”
The Hanoverian mare inspection included Ginger Cookie (Grand Cru-Dinar), owned by Alexandra Garrity, and Dhaphne (De Laurentis – Gold Luck), owned by Janet Rae, and Conturri (Contucci – Riverman) and Raja HTF (Royal Prince – Parabol), both owned by Hilltop Farm. All four of these mares were accepted into the Main Studbook. An additional mare was entered into the Studbook. Two of the mares scored high enough to be Elite Mare Candidates. Raja HTF scored a 7.66 with highlights of her walk, good legs, and beautiful type. Earning an overall score of ‘8’ Conturri received the high score for the Hanoverian mares with judges’ comments consisting of “very impressive type; very uphill; and beautiful head and neck.”
Nine foals were presented for inspection sired by Fabriano, Comic Hilltop FRH, Escudo II, Tiamo Trocadero, Royal Prince, Rousseau, and three by Contucci. Chiquita, the Contucci - Cordoba filly owned by Hilltop, received the high score for fillies with general judge comments being “elastic, rhythmical, undeniable in her movement,” and “beautiful neck and good legs.” The high scoring colt was Ricochet, the Royal Prince - Riverman colt owned by Hilltop. Interestingly, this colt is out of Rivita, who is also the dam of Conturri who was the top scoring mare earlier in the day. Richochet earned comments such as “nothing less than exquisite” and “breathtaking mover.” Congratulation to everyone!

Just wanted to bump this up to let people know Bill posted the photos from the inspection. I am terrible about posting links - got to them off his website (www.alphinsphotography.com) for the photostock link.
LJS - your Escudo 2 colt is looking like a super fancy hunter. Glad Bill got some nice pics of the foals as I left before seeing most of them.

Thanks Laurie, he really does http://www.photostockplus.com/home.php?user_id=18633&tmpl=51&event=203878&action=viewphoto&photo_id=10567471&album_id=203894 in this picture and since he sold to a hunter/jumper owner that's a very good thing, lol. I couldn't be happier with the results that day. Escudo II sure does stamp them. I bred the dam of this colt's dam to Escudo II for another hunter/jumper prospect, can't wait until next year to see that result. I have another Escudo II to present at Hilltop's ISR/Oldenburg inspection for his new owner (hunter prospect) in a couple weeks. It will be interesting to compare the pics of the half sibs. I was also happy my mare NF Amayzing got in since she is infoal to Tiamo Trocadero and I really want to present that foal to AHS.
It was an extremely hot day and was extremely lucky to have so much help. I really owe them all alot!! It was a terribly sweaty day. Bill did get wonderful shots of all of the horses...and in a dark indoor too. He does great work.

Sent you a PM ljs - had a few questions and didn't want to take this thread too off-topic :)

Actually they loved his free shoulder and said he had wonderful movement for being jumper bred. They don't score so unfortunately don't know what he may have gotten if they had. They did comment too on his size and substance. AHS definitely is recognizing more and more hunter/jumper types. My Oldenburg mare that got into the Main Mare Book definitely has flat Knee movement as you can see here http://www.photostockplus.com/home.php?user_id=18633&tmpl=51&event=203878&action=viewphoto&photo_id=10567184&album_id=203887 but they actually said and I quote "she has wonderful reach and flat kneed movement" they also said she should be bred to lighter stallions too but that's a no brainer, lol. I am thrilled with AHS now recognizing sport horses of all types not just dressage. Good movement is good movement and a free shoulder is a must for most disciplines in order to be competitive. Don't get me wrong, I still love to watch dressage and am always in awe of that big lofty movement (will always still breed for dressage, but now can breed for both without as much worry on marketability) but a beautiful sweeping front in with lots of push behind is very nice to watch as well.
