Just wanted to let folks know that we are hosting our first inspection of 2008 this Saturday. Due to the extreme temperatures we will be expediting the schedule and hope to wrap up by 1:30 PM with the last of the 2008 foals.

Spectators welcome! :)

Well mother nature provided a baking hot day but all the horses and ponies were lovely at the AWR inspection. Jana the judge commented on the exceptional quality of all the horses and how rare it is that every horse presented today was a first premium.
Our 22 YO TB mare got a 7.2 and comments about her excellent confo and condtion for her age. Unfortunately she came in a bit lame on Tuesday and I thought she was brewing an abcess so the farrier was out on Thurs to check her.....said no abcess...just a bruised heel.....
Being a little off with her bruised heel did bring down her gait scores so we are really pleased she still got a 7.2 even with the ouchy heel! Her Waldaire filly received a 7.7.
No pics from me since I was busy with mare and foal but Tasker did get some pics of her ringside so I am looking forward to what pics she managed to get!

Just wanted to thank Ellie and her family for hosting this inspection, as always they did a super job of making everyone feel welcome. We took a friends mare and foal and a yearling who missed his inspection last year. Both were by Forrest Flame and out of the same mare and both made First Premiums and ended up with same overall score of 7.8 and the foal, Fenwick took Reserve Champion in the Sport Pony Div.

The foal was hillarious..it was extremely hot and as we were being judged at the walk on the triangle...I guess the temptation to roll in the soft sand was just too much. Fenwick just plopped down with no warning and managed to get in a couple of good rolls at the end of the lead rope before we were able to get him up and then continue walking along as if nothing happened...what a character.

I'll start with a huge thank you to all of those who assisted us in hosting this inspection - Pat, Ric, Christine, Mike, Maddie, Sandro, Jose, Ali, Ginger, Rick and Sara - wow! You guys are fantastic!!!! The participants this year have really raised the bar for breeding - Lesley (as always) it was just wonderful to see Forrest's outstanding babies...they are lovely and make me wish that I had legs a bit shorter! :) Other than the heat it was a perfect day and a treat to see so many nice horses & ponies PLUS meet so many very nice people along the way! :)

And I will post a link to our Waldaire & Dressage Royal foals when they are uploaded. I don't know if Christine got video of her Windlass, but what a beauty that filly is! (not that I am biased or anything  ) Dreamcatcher (aka McDreamy) was simply amazing! He really brought his A game to the ring and did us proud. Westerleigh (aka Joy) did not disappoint in any way, either...with only a slight difference the Movement mark being the tie-breaker, it is nice to have a homebred in the same league as a sire in the top 1% of German dressage makers!

It was a great day and very educational as usual. We are especially proud that South American Way xx was the dam sire of two of the three first premium premier foals, the NASPR site champion as well as the AWR reserve site champion. And Again and Again was the dam sire of the AWR site champion who was also a first premium premier.;) Three premiers at one inspection, woo hoo!!

There were some awesome jumpers in the mare performance test free jumping portion. Did anyone get any pictures? And the jumping and eventing bred foals certainly moved well too. Great scores! Congratulations everyone!;)

Ours is 10/26 - at Watt's Ranch www.magicarpetshowhorses.com

Congratulations on the wonderful scores! IMO anything above a 7.5 is pretty darn impressive, and 3 premiers - just wow.

Was the judge Jana Wagner? I saw her farm last year and she really has a good breeding program. I drove up after the Oklahoma inspection because I wanted to see Barleone (who was in training with Jana at the time).

great to hear about everyone's success... and very happy that so many of your homebred stallions have more than proven (once again) what great horses we are breeding here in the US.

Here is the link to the whole album (now bear with me...we pulled our foals back out today and let them romp around to get some photos this morning as there was not an official photographer on the big day...) TIA.

Jana & Emily were our judges and did a great job with the critique at the end of the day...really great explanations of the scoring. Plus, there were some young people (late teens-early 20's) handling and they really helped them to be more comfortable with handling their horses & ponies during the process...really just super ladies! :) :)

And I am with you...anything over a 7.5 gets put on our official 'keeper' list for evaluation as breeding stock! It was a real thrill to have so many high First Premiums...and then to have 3 Premiers too (all grandchildren out of our program), well, that just made the day euphoric! There isn't a smilie that expresses that emotion...

Camohn, I was just looking at Taskers post, and I saw your mare is by Hail the Pirates. I am leasing a half sister to your mare this year, that I bred to Schroeder. Swinger is twenty this year, and I am going to try to get her approved AHS on Thursday. Congrats on your mare, she is a beauty! Do you have any conformation pictures of her? From the one picture I could see of her, they look alot alike, only Swinger is black.

Camohn, Hail the Pirates is on my girls dam side also, I looked at her Jockey Club paper wrong. How cool. They look alot alike. She got all bathed tonight for her inspection, I did a pre wash, as ah she hasn't been washed with soap since 2003 when her Contango colt went to the KWPN keuring. So she will get touched up tomorrow night. Swinger also has Nasrullah on her sire side. Not sure if this will pull up or not, if not go to brisnet.com, pedigrees and lifetime starts and type in Swinging Princess 1988 on the basic free pedigree

For a while a couple years ago Hail The Pirates was the damsire of 2 or 3 stallions on the leading hunter sires list. Pretty good for a stallion that was well bred but "not that famous" in his own right...probably since he was sold to Ireland as a foal and returned to the US after his racing career was done.
