MH, congrats!
LaNet, you can see the ranking list at http://www.usef.org/documents/disciplines/dressage/DevHorseScores.pdf . I don't know if too many of those folks other than MH are on this forum, though.
I believe the top 20 at the end of the qualifying period (Aug. 15) will be invited to Lexington. At the moment, though, there are several horses in the top 20 that only have one qualifying score - they have to have at least two qualifying scores and a combined average of at least 62%.
It's really cool to see Grandioso at the top of the list. He won the 6 y/o Championship last year, and it is very exciting to see him at age 7 ranked #1 on the Developing Horse list. This horse is from my area, and I predicted when he was just a 5 y/o that he was destined for great things.

We did 2 qualifiers for the 7-9, one went well, one not so great, and it was clear we wouldn't quite be ready to reliably lay down a polished performance quite yet. I learned last year at the 6 year olds it is not fun to go and not have a reliable test yet! :) So perhaps next year but not this year.
Good luck to all!
Maryanna -- i heard your big man did super in virginia! congrats

What are the dates? thanks

Dates are 9/12-14.
Rankings are updated every Wednesday but with so few qualifiers left, I don't expect there to be too much change in the order. Will be interesting to see what happens to all the horses with only one score: I'm a little suprised they are there because you have to have submitted a letter of intent by now.
On another note, Honeylips you were right about Ronatella. She showed in Lexington, Virginia this weekend and got an 8.9

The young horse stuff and young FEI tests really interest me. I LOVE watching and hearing about it.
I think I will have a contender in two yrs, but....... as MH said..... "Alot can happen between now and then!:

I'll be there with my trainer showing my six-year-old. This will be his 3rd trip and it is one of my favorite shows.

Yeah, I am glad to hear this. She seems like such a nice mare, and well ridden - too bad she got overwhelmed by the indoor at Raleigh.

I am holding 3rd place for the 7 - 9 year olds. I will be making the trip if everyone is healthy and sound from New England.
I am arranging a van (air-ride) to haul us down as I cannot do that trip around New York and D.C. area. Anyone interested in comparing the price to what you may spend in gas trucking down, please call me.

I'm sure it varies, but does anyone know how many out of the top 20 usually elect to go to Lexington, and how far down the list of qualified horses they go, to get 20 in the class?

She's the big gray mare (still dark), right? I thought she should have won that class. She was a little locked in her back going around the arena in warmup but once she went in I thought she looked super.

Ronatella placed 4th in the 5 y/o class on Friday at Raleigh, with a 6.76. It obviously was not her day.

Last year in the five year olds they got down to the 4th alternate and ended with 20 entries. There were two ties in the standings so it seems like there were 6 horses in the top 20 who elected not to go.

Ronatella won the Eastern selection trials in Raleigh but those scores didn't count towards the National rankings....very strange.
She def. had a bad go on Friday at Raleigh: she seemed distracted by the indoor there. That score did count towards the national ranking. She never really looked relaxed on the 2 selection trial days but they were better than the first day.
However as Honeylips predicted, she went to Dressage at Lexington and got an 8.9 from Lilo Fore (who also judged at Raleigh...) By my calculation, she will now be ranked #1 on the 5 yo list. At least I think that's right. However the qualification period is over and I would think it would be too late to send her to Verden.

when my horse was 5 they ended up inviting #25 on the list (i think we were 27 or 28...we missed it by that much (get smart reference))), i think some years all 20 have gone and #21 doesn't get invited. i don't think ive seen further down than around 26, but others might have paid better attention than me
only a few years ago there weren't even 20 horses that qualified as 6 year olds (and that was before this more limited show/judge list)

Yep, Ronatella is now at the top of the 5 y/o rankings.

I saw the classes on Sunday. Didn't she end up 2nd in the class in the final standings?

Ronatella won the 5 y/o classes at Raleigh on both Sat (score 7.86) and Sun (score 8.0). Her final score for the Selection Trials at Raleigh was 7.944.
The class on Friday where she scored a 6.76 was a qualifier for the National Championships in KY, and had nothing to do with the Sat/Sun classes.
