I went out into the field to get the two mares and foals in. I had the camera as I was trying to capture Izzy's trot. Well she gallops off back to momma, slams on the breaks and rears up. Izzy started going over backwards and I almost had a heart attack. Somehow she didn't flip, but my heart was still beating fast. I couldn't believe she didn't go over hard.
Hope you like the pics! :)

Great pictures! I think Izzy will think twice before she rears up again - looks like she scared herself doing that. :-)

LOL... great shots! What a silly little girl... she looks like she almost had a heart attack herself. I bet she won't be rearing up again any time soon. :-)

You always get the most incredible action shots, can't re-, but I think this one tops them all. Yikes! Must have scared you and her to death. What a super filly!

I think she just about defied gravity and won! Great pictures--even though you must have been having a heart attack while taking them.

I was thinking she went from looking like a ballerina en point to "OMG"!
Fabulous shots, thank goodness she was able to twist around and land on her feet. Now you can take some deep breaths, lol.

Wow! And the fact that you got the pics to prove it... I think I would have just stood frozen in place forgetting about the camera completely. Bravo!

Cool pics! I did not have a camera on hand for my heart attack moment a week or so ago. Our 2 month old Waldaire filly escapes from our Ramm fenced pasture on a regular basis. The day before the heart attack I finally witnessed HOW she does it. She puts one foot over the bottom rail of the flex fence, then the other foot, then worms her head under and stands up to "bend" the flex fence enough to squirm through with the hind end. One morning I went out to feed and mom was in the mare pasture/baby was in the hay field (where she often is found...). She has done this so often now that seh sees me coming and trots up to the gate for me to let her back in....I don't even have to go get her anymore. So......she usually trots up. This day she gallops for the fence. Flat out. Is at the fence. Flat out. Thus my heart attack. She jumped back into her own pasture. At 9 weeks old.....Lord help me......
Knees up to her eyeballs. Prior to this I had bred her to be a dressage-y horse but with her TB dam's lower set on neck and flatter action I figured she will be more of a hunter-jumper type after all. Yup....she is.......
She did in fact try it again the next day but with a lot less speed. That was the second heart attack when she DIDN'T make it and got hung up with her front legs up on top of the flex fence. Before I got there she calmly extricated herself though. No boo boos. I am hoping that will dissuade more fence hopping attempts at her size......
