I came across these videos on YouTube and thought they were so cute I just had to share them. Now....who's going to be brave enough to admit that they used to do this exact same thing when they were younger? ;) I know I did!!!!

My daughter's version was to make a course out of things in her bedroom, and entice our male cat, who thinks he's a dog, into jumping over the obstacles. He of course knew it was way easier to scoot under, so my daughter had to modify the jumps from your basic verticals to solid cross country jumps! Our cat was, and still is, very good natured, and would jump back and forth for nearly an hour before refusing and retiring to under the bed!

It brings back a lot memories. I used to have generic Breyer's when I was younger... I now as an adult have some of the real ones, mostly the collectible ones: the christmas breyers and of course Erin Go Bragh, my horses dad...
Here's another video... dressage day:

Love it!! Kida are way more creative these days than I was back then. They're actually building barns and jumps for their Breyers. I just used kleenex boxes and toilet paper rolls!! :D

Cute! I used to set up 'jumps' (cushions) in the house and get the family dog to jump :D My sister and I used to set up a couse consisting of lawn chairs, garbage cans etc in the backyard after watching jumping from Spruce Meadows. I was a pretty good 'jumper' back in my day but I don't think I'd be so brave now!

So cute!
My friend and I were pretty fit little kids. We ran all dang day through the woods carrying our hands with invisible reins, patting our thighs once in a while "good girl". The kids on bikes were not fond of all the jumps we set up on the trails. Oops.

I used to have a 20 gallon aquarium with goldfish in it. I had some plastic jumps (smaller that Breyer that I found on Ebay from the UK). I weighted them down and put green gravel in the bottom for the grass. My goldfish had a whole jump course on the bottom.!! It was fun!!

you forgot the time where I would set up jumps throughout the house and make him do that...and the time i had an imaginary barn and i would explain to you all the horses and how i was training them....Gosh...i remember when i would spend hours outside "training" my "Bad pony" and how many "wins" i had with my "perfect horse...Lucky Rub" oooh those where the days....and yes i still do it!

I used to jump my labrador over anything that remotely resembled a jump. I also attempted teaching him to lunge, which did not work out but he sure loved the extra 20 feet of leash!

We used to do that too! We also had elaborate charts with all of our "horses" names, age, color, breed, etc, and when we "bought" a new one (aka we thought of a new name we liked) we'd discuss its training levels and how we'd work on it....oh man. We set up jumps in the yard and woods and ran around ALL day. And at the barn when no one was riding, we'd hook the lunge line to our jeans and the person in the middle would longe the "horse"...complete with a whip (scary depending on who was in the middle!) The only thing about that though was I remember my mom was always mad at me for the holes it tore in my jeans (belt loops just werent made for that). We'd have "shows," "clinics," everything! Our trainer encouraged it, at one point she even gave us pony bits (clean) with reins attached to put in our mouths and have a person behind us hold the reins as the "rider." I think her idea was that it'd help us develop perspective on soft hands versus being rough and such. And my doctor always commented on the great shape I was in  Now, if only I could motivate myself to run that often again...

Haha, we would set up life size jumps (made of old boards from a picket fence and cinder blocks for standards) and my sister and I would jump them. She's also the one who set up a "bounce" for gymnastics and told me to close my eyes through them. Well, that's only a good idea when you're on the horse who can still see what it's doing, not so much when you're the one jumping the jumps. I stepped on and broke every single board. She's also the one who tried to lunge me, but I my foot down.
Oh! We would also have rings on our little swing set, and we would put them way high, put our feet through the rings like stirrups, and attach a long rope to the other side of the swing set and hold it like reins. Probably not the smartest thing, since the rings were held on by rusted chains and we were 6 feet off the ground, but who said we had to be smart?;)
Those were the days.
Oh yes, how could I forget this? My sister (who is older than me, by the way) also made me carry her on my back for the horsie rides, it was never the other way around.

Used to do this sort of thing? I came across all my beloved childhood toys not too long ago at my mom's house - Breyer horses, farm animals, lincoln logs to build a barn, plastic fencing, cowboys and indians (no longer PC), etc. I set up my farm on the floor of my old room just like I did over and over and over again when I was a girl. It brought back a flood of memories and was pretty ironic considering I'm working on laying out plans to buy my very own farm within the next five years. :D And they said I'd outgrow it...

I used to do the same with my Breyer horses but there legs were breaking all the time(everything in our house was hardwood floors poor things didn't stand a chance) I also tried to lunge my dog and make her jump over everything, she was a basset hound so the "jumps" were always low and she gave up easily.
