GReat!! I'm in the 10:30 session sat. but not sure which group. We are new to eventing but not jumping so I'm not sure where we'll be. I'm so excited, this is my guy and myself, keep an eye out for us.

Are you riding the horse in your profile shot? What level do you compete at? Just wondering if we'd be in the same one possibly.

Your guy is cute!

No, I'm riding another, borrowed horse who has never competed and is quite green! She hasn't even jumped that much. So we will be in the total greenbean group, if there is such a thing.

There are a few pics of her (chestnut) on my COMH page (http://www.chronicleofmyhorse.com/profile/AnastasiaCurwood).

Thats great. I always love meeting new horsie friends :D Most of my friends or non-horsie so when I start gabbing about my horses they look at me like I'm crazy  Are you bringing the one in your profile shot? I'll keep a look out for you also. Look for us

Jaegermonster
Jul. 7, 2008, 07:55 PM
no, unfortunately the one in my profile shot is injured so she can't go right now. I was planning on bringing her but oh well. I have another really cool little horse that i'm taking. She's actually for sale (and I have advertised in the COTH so they got their money), so I think the training will be good for her. Plus she is really fun to ride.

I did just hear that we aren't going to Pine Top on Sunday, they couldn't get enough people to commit, so that was disappointing. I'll probably head home later Saturday afternoon.

I was getting a little worried I might be the old granny of the group, but cookiepony is close, hasn't caught me, but close :)

neither of you have ANYTHING to fear as to age...have hauled dear Buddy out of retirement due to Rasta needing a bit (and tonight we are hoping that "bit" is the best descriptor - Dr. Mike - Bessie's dad and co-holder with Ms Cathy, of the deed to the property Triple Creek works on so happily- is checking him tomorrow - all together now: cross fingers, bless yourself, light candles, do whatever dance makes horses a little off get sound in two weeks - THANK YOU! :D) of time to get better ....Buddy and I have a total of 73 years between us...he hasn't done more than walk around the paddocks a couple of times a month in the past two years - HE CAN STILL BUCK!!!!! The past 10 days he has moved up from walking 20 minutes to now the amazing amount of work: walk 30 minutes and trot 4 minutes!!!!! :D

Can't wait to see everyone!

Edited to add: Buddy just trotted SIX MINUTES and cantered THIRTY SECONDS...while, Rasta decided to stop eating grass and turn into a race horse again. Little butthead hasn't even offered to do anything but eat in his paddock for the past 10 days and then tonight decided to play buck, twist run, buck twist and run again SQUEALING!!!!! Doesn't seem any worse for wear, but do need for everyone to be thinking very positively tonight...actually, for once, I think things are going to go well. :D

Can I go at 8? That way Lynda can video me and vice versa. :D

Sorry about not going to Pine Top-- I am one of the party poopers. I have to get back to Nashville for something on Sunday.

Jaegermonster-- I am betting we will all finish this clinic feeling younger than we did at the start. ;)

Attention all MB clinic riders, watchers, whateverers (no, horses, you need not disturb your eating and socializing):

What would y'all think about getting together for supper and/or drinks Friday night? We could do Mexican or American. Later today I'll probably call you, but if you're a COTHer, give me PM and let me know your preference - if any.

I'm in a lovely mood - DR. MIKE CLEARED RASTA TO GO BACK TO WORK!!!!! Just walk the first couple of days and then ease back into stuff paying close attention to ANY signs of discomfort. HOOO-RAY! :D :D :D

I'm going! :D

And sorry, but I'm one of the party poopers for Sunday, too. I have to work Sunday afternoon, and there just wasn't going to be enough time for me to do Pine Top, get my horse back to Taylorsville, and then get me back to Atlanta in time for work :(

What time are y'all thinking on Friday? Are guests allowed? I already have plans with the BF for my birthday, but I'm game for meeting up with people (if the timing works out).

I'm in the 10:30 group... if I remember my profile pic correctly, the mare I am *driving* is the horse I am bringing!

Congrats on you guys and your horses being cleared!! I'm so exicited to meet everyone on Saturday. Look for me and my guy in the profile shot we are in the 10:30 group and a friend (thats also on here) will be coming with me to help but her horse didn't get cleared  and her baby isn't ready for it yet so she is just coming to help me ;) Can't do dinner Friday, I hate that maybe next time I can  Theres always something going on

The beauty of this clinic is that Mary Bess will tailor it to each person's needs - so you can just let her know the situation and go from there - you can just do cross rails on the XC course if you want to - would still be great for a green horse! I would talk to her on Friday before/after your private lesson..

Is there anyone who would still like to go to Pine Top on Sunday? Apparently there are two of us still interested and it can still be on the table if anyone wants to go.
Shoot India an email or pm if you want to go she says she can still set it up.
I'm all the way down in Jacksonville FL, who knows when I'll get back up that way again, I would hate to miss an opportunity to go there, it really looks like a neat place.

On Friday evening, probably around 7:00 horsepeople time, we're getting together to do Mexican - little restaurant just off I-20 between Conyers and Covington (Salem Rd exit) - we'd love any and all to join us. Cookiepony and Jaegermonster will be in town for the clinic; hopefully, FleckenAwesome can free up the evening from her DVM duties (we love her vocation!). PM me for directions and faces - you can't miss my husband - best beard you've ever met! :D

I can't make Friday night :(

And I know this is a very "hunter princess" question, but what are y'all wearing? I have tall boots that kind of fit, but I'm really leaning towards my paddock boots and half-chaps... I know that in competition they wouldn't be allowed, but what about for this?

Also, what do y'all recommend for jumping boots for this? I've got SMB Combo boots, SMB IIs, Prof Choice open fronts, Weatherbeeta open fronts, Weatherbeeta ankle boots, and Prof Choice bell boots (no galloping boots). Which combo do y'all think would be best?

*Hunter princess wannabe slinks away*

rabicon
Jul. 10, 2008, 03:28 PM
Its okay pattnic ;) I'm probably going to where my tall boots just so I'll have a better leg on my guy. He will be wearing his dressage boots  I have others but I like those best so thats what he'll where. I think your in my session 10:30?? right?? Can't wait to meet everyone. Oh quick question, are all of you wearing your vest since its a small jump clinic? I haven't bought one yet but my trainer said she could meet me with one and I was wondering if we had to or not.

Also Grady what are we going to do if its pouring and storming like it has been around here?

Grady
Jul. 10, 2008, 03:58 PM
Hey - everyone has to wear a vest - if you don't have one - please let me know and I will have one for you...I thought I e-mailed everyone that so sorry if I missed someone.

It's only been raining in the evenings - we can do it on Sunday if there is a rainout - but hopefully we will be okay!

Maxxtrot - I would love to help you set up a USEA Intro Clinic - we are looking for farms to host these - I do all the work for you! Let me know - e-mail is indiawatson@comcast.net

Pattnic - boots and half chaps are fine - whatever is comfortable - breeches and colored shirt is the norm for clinics - but it will be hot so be comfortable! :)

Any kind of boots are fine too for your pony - just want to protect their legs - don't buy anything new - I can loan you some if you need them.

Any questions - please call my cell - I have e-mailed it to all of you...thanks!!

Grady
Jul. 10, 2008, 03:59 PM
I meant collared shirt - not colored! :)

Your question is a smart one, pattnic - so is yours, rabicon. Here's what I've always been told (and experienced). You show respect for your horse and the clinician with turnout and grooming. Your horse comes first: well groomed, tail combed with no shavings, clean tack and pad. For horse boots, choose what you usually put on pony to protect tendons and bones - on some horses, I've always used bell boots, on others not.

If you're more comfortable in 1/2 chaps, then wear them. I once suffered through pulling on my ill-fitting tall boots for a Jimmy Wofford clinic only to go watch the upper level riders all come in 1/2 chaps, clean paddock boots, and clean breeches. I always try to wear a shirt with sleeves. If you don't have an event vest, PM Grady - I expect she can round one up for you. I'd offer mine, but the zipper is broken, so I've got another ordered. Make sure you have an approved helmet...and smile, I'm taking pictures! Above all, DON'T STRESS!!!! This clinic is about learning and having fun on your horse! And you WILL!!!! :D

We're getting TONS of rain out this way....LOVELY grass miracle worker!!! I'm sure Grady has a plan B, as well as plan C all ready to execute should rain appear...

Wish you could come Friday night, but do understand how life simply can get in the way, huh. See you Saturday morning!

thanks runforit and grady. I can meet my trainer with one but if you have one there in a small then that would be great. It would be much easier than hauling my horse to watkinsville and then over to Mansfield. If you look at the picture in my profile and the ones I posted I'm pretty small up top and slendor so I would think a small would work but I haven't bought one because I wanna make sure this is something my guy and myself can do before I buy one because they are not cheap  Thanks so much for the help and wish I could be there Friday. Have fun and have a drink for me ;)

Grady
Jul. 10, 2008, 04:44 PM
I have a vest with your name on it! :) Let me know if you need anything else...

For everyone - I am providing bottled water for everyone - if you want to bring your own snacks and other drinks - feel free...it's going to be humid and hot so make sure you drink alot of fluids and eat a good breakfast!

Also - everyone needs to pull in the front gate and follow the road towards the barn - we will park in a row next to MB's big LQ - we will help you when you get there..

Grady you know I want to ;) That was a blast me and the MorganX bay had a blast today. War did very well and I'm so happy that we are moving in the right direction. Can't believe I jumped a couple BN and N jumps  Thanks so much and tell Mary Bess thanks for the vest again. Can't wait to see ya'll at Ashland next weekend. We are doing tadpole and a training level 1 test. The reason we have been stuck at tadpole is because his canter is not ready for a BN test in dressage. He just was to unbalanced for the canter circle but we are trying the training level 1 test this weekend in hopes to move up ;) Thanks again. J

She was and still is showing in the Level 0 and Level 1 jumpers. She has not evented by has done several hunter paces and has foxhunted two seasons. Seems like every time I put an ad in the COTH (did a couple months ago for 3 issues) she manages to do something to herself

Ooooh! Keep me and the used-to-be-almost-black Morgan mare on the list! I've started looking for my own vest - thanks for letting me borrow yours Grady!
We definitely got some really good stuff to work on; the dressage lessons we recently started taking will help immensely! It's good to know I was on the right track in doing that, at least!
