Thanks!!

Two more questions on the following:
QUALIFICATIONS
2008 Area II Adult Riders Training Three Day Event QUALIFICATIONS for the period of November 2007 thru the closing date:

THE HORSE AND RIDER MUST COMPLETE FOUR USEA RECOGNIZED HORSE TRIALS AT THE TRAINING LEVEL WITH NO JUMPING PENALTIES.

1. So is the qualifying period from Nov '07 til closing date?
2. No jumping penalties--is that just xc?

I'm thinking about it. Pretty tempted! My guy is qualified, has run one Prelim, planning on spending the fall bopping back and forth between T and P, and think a half star would fit well with that plan and be fun!

So, according to this, there's no time period for the qualifying HTs?

2. Qualifying With 4 Completed Horse Trials at Training Level
A. THE HORSE AND RIDER MUST COMPLETE FOUR USEA RECOGNIZED HORSE TRIALS AT THE TRAINING LEVEL.

B. THE HORSE/RIDER COMBINATION MUST HAVE CLEAN CROSS COUNTRY ROUNDS (NO JUMPING PENALTIES) IN AT LEAST THREE OF THE FOUR HORSE TRIALS.

C. THE FOURTH HORSE TRIAL MAY HAVE NO MORE THAN 20 JUMPING PENALTIES ON THE CROSS COUNTRY PHASE.

No, there is no time period for the qualifying method specific to the Area II T3D but there IS a time period for the AEC qualifying period.

I will double check for you if a one year time period for the listed method is in effect. We have always used 'within the last year', but there were some horses and riders who had previous years' results used in the past. Gretchen and Cindy just take a look at the record and talk to the entered rider and make a decision based on what they know of the pair and of the events. They know everybody and have minds like steel traps, believe me!

If you have qualifying Training level rides from 2007, but none from 2008, you had better have a very compelling reason as to why, though. After all it's not held until October and that means going 10 months without a horse trial prior to the three day event -- not the most recommended prep!

Next year, chica!

(shhhh....I'm not making any plans, but I really, really hope the BFG and his dad will be in attendance! But don't tell anyone...who know how it goes when you make plans in this sport!)

We're hoping to do the T3D this fall if everything goes as planned...or according to the B plan :)

The A plan was to qualify the 20yo gentleman who just can't stay retired...but then he tweaked a suspensory, and won't be back to any jumping until Sept. So the B plan is to get qualified with the slightly-less-old OTTB who was called up to take the old-man's place. One qualifying score down, 3 to go!

Totally understandable!

Though I'm starting to think this entire year is going to be a wash as idiot can't seem to go a week without hurting himself.

He has a vet appt tomorrow (guess I'm breaking in the new trailer!) as he has been on doxy for 2.5 weeks now and STILL has a little swelling in his left hind. Oh and to add insult to injury, he has been totally sound for the past week-ish and pulled up LAME, LAME last night.

2010. Next year is for the AECs.

I may have to tag along as ground crew if the BFG makes it.

I just hope he won't pull his shenanigans when you're on top of him before an event.

For that to happen, we'd have to actually MAKE it to an event!

Though here is a picture of him pulling some shenanigans with me on:

Well, we'll be sure to have a strong cheering section of COTH-folk on hand (with large amounts of alcohol) should you actually manage to make it that far. :)

Will keep you posted.

I was so disheartened last night that I didn't even bother talking about upcoming events with my trainer... :sigh:
