Sweet! I do think it is a little funny that it is a Casino Night and open bar for a fund raiser for a YR! ha!
That is going to be a busy weekend! Between the event, yr's fun party, and the other big party on Saturday night. Woohoo!!!!
Black tie or tank top, I can do either...and most things in between.

It should be a good time. I'm bringing two cases of Corona I picked up for the 4th and some random unopened booze I found while cleaning out the garage earlier today. :D

Excellent... well done, Lex :D It wouldn't be a party without Coronas and random dusty booze. I shall bring a crapload of limes then.
P.S. YellowRose - I was thinking about getting you & Jennie B. a couple of disposable cameras for your trip back.... love the behind the scenes stuff for the mag. :) Whatcha think?

Those disposable cameras are pretty fuzzy. It would probably be better if they were loaned a really big memory card for their digital camera, which would probably be SD/SDHC. Those cards are far less expensive than getting them disposables. I know places you can get 8GB cards for 15/20 bucks.
GreyDun
Jul. 7, 2008, 10:18 PM
Yep, I'm definitely not a fan of disposables... but I wasn't sure if they had a digital camera that they were planning to take (and I didn't really have one to lend them). So, yes, I'd have no prob getting them a nice memory card for their camera. :)
P.S. YellowRose will hopefully be sharing her experiences at YR's/the Road Trip in an article for USEA mag... so, all the more reason to come to her party, meet the fun people, and support her on the way there. :D (okay, I deserve a cookie for that little sneak peek ;))

:sigh:
(I'm doing the Compass Rose CT this Sat., and so far am the only Prelim entry...I'm sure I'll be doing dressage at 8 bells :()
And those dusty Coronas sound great--as long as they're cold! And if Grey Dun kindly offers to bring limes, even better!
Good luck, yb--I'll be doing T also at the second MDHT (along with my student Erin), so be sure you wear those yellow breeches so that I will be able to recognize you :p
Yellow Rose, I will see you tomorrow at your show! I'm bringing the greenbean, so will be there early (3:30 ish), and will be schooling him around the baby-sized courses...maybe you can twist my arm re: Friday while I'm there ;)

I need to work on my Corona/lime flip. I'm usually pretty good at it, but tonight I had two with dinner, and the second one got a little messy. I'm blaming it on drinking the majority of the first on a very empty and mildly dehydrated stomach. Not good for a moderate light weight!

I am feeling more and more compelled to make an appearance (I'll be out at my barn in the evening--cleaning my horse up for the CT the next day, and helping with the prep for the greenie I'm going to be riding there too--and my barn is only 15-20 minutes away from yellow rose...maybe I could stop by for an hour or two. ;)) I screwed up my lower back last weekend, but haven't been able to take a break (other than going to the chiro, stretching, using muscle relaxants, massage, heating pad, etc., etc.), so I am *attempting* to take it easy whenever possible--and get plenty of rest, so that I will be able to compete on Sat...best-laid plans, though--Ha!
I was at the schooling Jumper show tonight, and yellow rose told me she was riding (a client's horse) this Sat. at the MDHT 1--but she lucked out; she's the second division of the day! :p Not exactly "lie in bed all morning" times, but I'm thinking that she will be able to sleep past 5:00 AM, maybe :p)
Anyway, I hope to come by--I guess it will depend on how I feel by Friday night ;)

I accept your challenge to Rock, Paper, Scissors. I'm certain I have some inherited right to the word, as well, but I am such a mutt on my mom's side that I'm not exactly sure how. AFAIK, my spelling is the proper Yiddish (if there is such a thing). :D
You're not an equestrian if you don't have a dirt stain somewhere on your clothing so you'll fit in nicely. I don't think it's a formal affair, at least Katie hasn't said it is such, and I was just planning on wearing a nice shirt. Egh, I don't own clean shirts anymore... since I do the barn on the way to work, all of my "at one point somewhat classy, clean, and fashionable" tops have all be besmothered in pony slobber/dog hair/chicken poo/Pop Tart goop...

Yeah I just read that piece a few minutes ago. One of the things I like about Katie and Steve is that they are as normal as anyone you'd meet outside of a horse farm. Definitely not something you find with many of the pros, at least not many of the ones I've met. It would be nice to see more blogs about the up and comers like them that give the perspective of those who are working their way towards making a name for themselves.

That's what I thought, too, and that's why I always enjoy riding with them (well, that and I just enjoy watching them ride, too and are always digging for some free advice :)).
But yes - I've got a whole bunch of ideas for the Blog that we're working on like that... really neat, talented, hard-working people that we don't know a lot about. Doesn't have to be a rider, could be someone's groom, or parent, or owner, or whatever... love those stories!

YES YOU MUST WEAR PANTS. I SHALL BE THE ONLY ONE IN A DRESS!!!!!!
ahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!
no.. wear whatever you want! just please cover your bottom half... because sometimes people don't....
Well I'm definitely NOT wearing a dress so you've got nothing to worry about. I have to admit though...I'm curious about this not covering the bottom half thing...is that a reference to the...more eccentric folk that live about Middleburg? Or is it something else? Maybe a bad run-in with someone wearing shorty shorts?

Wow... can't wait! :D By the way - is it vital we get there early? I don't want to miss out on all the fun auctioning stuff or anything, but we might not get there right at 6:30, so Josh can play with his new pony.

You had the same thought I had. As I stand here dripping with sweat and covered in Paco hair and slime, still with a million things to do, I trying to figure out how much time I need to return to a civilized state and out to M-burg in a timely fashion.
You all are horse people, I know, but Paco has a way of getting me totally filthy pre and post ride.

I'm gonna head out around 5PM me thinks since I have to go down the always wonderful Rt.50 during the mad dash home from work that everyone engages in. Should get there before 6:30 or so give or take some time. Luckily I have The Golden Compass to occupy my ears while sitting in traffic. :)

I had a great time! Somehow, I totally missed getting a chance to talk to YR the entire evening, but had fun talking to Lex, and spent a little time trying to figure out craps. It is safe to say I will never be a professional gambler!

I'll definitely never be a professional gambler. I simply don't have the patience for that sort of thing. Well, I certainly enjoyed myself and the "afterparty" was fun too. It was nice to hang out in the barn and enjoy the company of good folk while listening to "F*** The Po-po".

Yeah, I'm not going to quit my day job for gambling either... :) But, there were some people who won BIG!
I had tons of fun too!
