And when I say red, I mean irish setter red :-).
Bodhi is the happiest animal I have ever known. He is a joy to be around. He has spent the last 3 years as a companion for my daughter. But, the daughter is now in college and Bodhi now spends most of his days by himself. It's not fair, especially since he can be such a healing presence. My husband and I are horse-people so we aren't home much either, otherwise we would keep him. He is a sweet, sweet lap-dog.
Bodhi has destroyed nothing in our house in the three years we have owned him. Like many small dogs, he needs to potty a lot and needs to be let out consistently.
Looking for a home where he can be a companion to someone who really needs him. He is therapy with 4 legs. He has the heart and attitude of a big dog in a little package.
Bodhi is registered (he was originally purchased as a foundation stud for a breeder). He is located in Northern Virginia.

Is he ok around other dogs (non aggressive but big, pretty laid back) and cats?
Is he ok around kids/babies? My parents might be interested in a very special dog (big dog in a little dog body would be ideal). Please pm or email me a picture.

Bodhi is great little dog and is not aggressive but can feel protective of his owner. He *loves* his people and worries about them.
Bodhi lives with 2 cats who he plays with and has been known to snuggle with as well. They outweigh him by several pounds. He will guard his food bowl from them, but the cats don't seem to care :-) Bodhi has stayed at a friend's house who has 2 dogs and enjoyed the company. When out in public, he tends to hurl insults at other dogs to keep them away from the person with him, which gets him some negative attention from other dogs on occasion. We've never really worked on that behavior so I don't know how much it might improve with training. He went to Petsmart the other day and didn't bark at any of the other dogs, so he can be good about it, too.
Bodhi is getting a hair-do today. I'll send some pics this evening with before and after pictures.

Hi! Do you think Bodhi would be a good companion to my 86-year-old mother? She's a vigorous woman, involved with life -- just replaced her aging Jeep with a convertible PT Cruiser! -- but lonely. She doesn't move quickly since the hip replacement, and can be a little wobbly on her pins, so I've been hoping to find "the" dog who will be careful and loving and a good companion for her.
We're in Central Mississippi, and I'd love to talk with you about Bodhi. Thanks!

Dale, I was at one time several years ago looking for a rescue poodle for my elderly neighbor. I was told by Poodle rescue that they do NOT put dogs that small with the elderly because they can and do "trip" them. they can't always see them getting under their feet.
With your mother's hip replacement already and being wobbly as you say, I'd be concerned.
