I would love to hear suggestions of stallions that shorten the back and put a solid hind-end on their offspring. Dressage, hunter, and jumper stallions are all welcome for suggestion

I have had good luck using Pablo to shorten backs. I have a mare with a loooong back and her Pablo filly has a nice, average length back and is very powerfully built in the hind end. The Pablo colt that I had this year has a short back (but his dam's back isn't overly long to begin with) but he had a huge improvement in the power of the hindquarters and the conformation of the hind legs.
2 is a very small sample size, but that has been my experience!

Ditto on Pablo. I bred him to a long Trakehner mare and the resulting colt has a nice length of back. Of course, her Routinier son also has a nice back length.

Mares have to be longer to make room for baby.

My boy, Future Illusion produces youngsters with unbelievably strong coupling front to back, and a Horse of the Year Show Judge told me he has the best hind leg he's ever seen on a horse. Obviously I agree ;) :D

Here he is:

..and here's one of his babies:

Semen will be in the US in the next couple of weeks hopefully.

If you don't mind something a little different, my boy improves hind end and shortens back. And adds bone and foot. But he's definately a horse of a different color  LSH Cadence In Color, www.MysticOakRanch.com. Definately not a jumper type though

Definately Ironman. One of the several reasons he was imported was to do just that. The colt in the pictures is out of a long backed mare with a marginal back end.

All of the Silvio(Middleburg) babies have well muscled loins, and very little space between the last rib, and hip.

I have heard really great things about Don Alfredo's ability to shorten and add power behind, as well as Goodtimes.

Gold Luck also will shorten a long mare and makes for a good strong hindquarters. Also known for giving dressage movement with excellent jumpiong ability.

I have a filly by Goodtimes out of a long backed mare who has a shorter back and great hind end. She also has the sweetest disposition.

I have also had very good luck with Vallado. He sired my favorite yearling who is an improvement over the dam in both the back and hind end. :)

Someday I will learn how to post pictures.

Redwine has an amazing hindquarter and LS placement with a relatively short back. I'm counting on him to improve the topline on a mare I'm breeding this year.

Yes...I know EVA..pain in the but...but with a bit of creativity we're making it work.

Hunter stallion with a dressage pedigree. Works for me.

I highly recommend the approved Irish Draught stallion Macha Breeze for both shortening a back and putting a strong hind end on his offspring. I've had two Irish Draught Sport Horse foals by him already. The foals have shorter backs than the dams, and very strong toplines. Their back ends are superb, they are very athletic and sensible. You can see our filly, who is out of an Anglo-Trakehner mare, on my website in the 2007 foal section (Serendipity). Sorry, pictures were taken during the winter, she's hairy, and it's muddy so she's a bit short strided in the photos. We also have a 2 1/2 week old colt by him. You can find him on the 2008 foals page (Machado). I've met Macha Breeze a number of times and found him to have a wonderful temperment, very gentle and easy going but not lazy. You should see how sweet he is with the owner's 4 year old daughter.

Macha Breeze's offspring have been going well in the direction of eventing and while I believe mine will too, my 2007 filly would also excel in dressage. Foals are registerable with the IDHSNA as Irish Draught Sport Horses. We're breeding back to him again this month. :D www.kegansporthorses.com/stallion.html

Windfall CB (http://bredahldressage.com/windfall/foals.html)! I could not be any more pleased with my Windfall CB filly (http://www.chronicleofmyhorse.com/photo/album/show?id=1971868:Album:82749). He definitely shortened the back/neck and complimented the already good hind end/excellent temperament.

I'm not sure I'm posting the image correctly but, Quinar will shorten the back and give a tremendous jump. I've got a Quinar yearling who is out of a long backed mother... he fixed her back beautifully.

Everyone has different tastes. I will just show you from my personal experience and you decide for yourself.

Goodtimes is known highly for shortening backs and putting strong hind ends. Same with Navarone. Schroeder also looks to do the same.

Corlands can have nice types, but he himself is a bit long in the back.
