I need to find the names of a few barns in the Prattville, AL area that board young horses with stall board. The nearest big down is Montgomery AL..please e-mail me or PM me if you like. Requirements, stall and turnout for a young horse, would prefer a breeder that could board a young horse. TIA! :)

Karri is about 3 hours from Prattville. I'm about 4. I think she is going to cross post it to the msn group "Alabama Georgia Horse Lovers".
Prattville is also close to Auburn (State vet school) so you may find something closer to there. There are a bunch of dressage, eventers, and HJ who attend Auburn, you may want to cross post on those boards.
I do know of one dressage trainer who is in Prattville, Judy Purtle (sp?), but don't know her contact info and if she accepts boarders.
Good luck!

I know a breeder in the Montgomery area that has bred for years, also starts and rides/shows and even drives. Very knowledgable and if she can't board it, would know others who might be a good place. Email me for her email address BGarzarek@aol.com.
Cheers,

Oh, Megan -- Judy Pirtle has a farm near Tuskegee now. She used to work from the Seier's farm in Prattville.

I have a great place, but I am probably 45 minutes to an hour from you. I will keep thinking- don't know tons of people from that area. Is there a specific discipline that you are looking for at the barn?

PennyG thank you for the e-mail address, I will contact them. Thank you!
As far as what type of a barn does not really matter at this point since it will be a foal and she will be moving out of the area by the time the foal is about 2 or 3 years old..they are military...so will be on the move in a few years.
Thank you everyone..keep them coming!!! Thanks in advance!!!

I currently live in Prattville and work in Montgomery AND I HAVE HOUSE FOR SALE!!!
www.stillwatersranch.net/fsbo.htm
Dr. Seier is at Cobbs Ford Pet Health - 334-285-3331 ... try him for a place to board. They have horses, and he'll know others who do. (He'll be getting about $300 today from me to tell me my cat has sinunitis! LOL).
Try www.thebulletinboard.com - search under farms or www.themuletrader.com - search under animals (maybe farm, rental or real estate). You can also place FREE ads looking for board.
There are several places near here available, but I don't know exactly what they offer.
Shade Tree in Millbrook (don't know if they board): (334) 290-3727
Prattville/Millbrook/Deatsville maybe Wetumpka are close. Auburn/Tuskegee is over an hour from Prattville. Montgomery is about 15 minutes from P'ville.
PM me if you want me to double check any place you are considering. I have boarded a few times and know people in Montgomery. Also, I can tell you about how far away you will be from any given point.
Try Lynn Woodruff (north part of Montgomery) at 334-265-9293. I don't think she has any room, but she may know someone. Directions to Lazy W Arena: From I-65 north or south take the Northern Blvd. (exit 173 – Hwy 231) • Go 4 miles on the Northern Blvd to 2nd red light • Turn left at the 2nd red light on to the Alabama River Parkway Toll Road • Turn right on Lower Wetumpka Rd (Hwy 74) • The arena is 0.8 miles on the left
If I can think of someone else, I'll pass it on!

OK ... does anyone know why it says I posted at 8:54 pm and it's only 3:57???? Is this a personal problem? LOL

Try David and Marianne McLeod at Pinchona Farm in Hope Hull. It's just 10 minues down the road from Maxwell AFB, and they have a lovely older barn with big stalls and TONS of pasture. I'll PM you their contact info.

I believe that there are stables on base (Maxwell AFB) where you can board... I"m sure that it is self board (but one can usually find someone to help out). Every base is different in terms of amenities and so forth, but board is usually cheap. Some are VERY nice and some are VERY yuck. honestly don't know which Maxwell is.

Her husband is based on that base and last night from doing searches, I found a boarder at Maxwell base and yes it is self care but they all work together and have a "feed group" who rotates feeding..she asked her hubby about it and he said he knew nothing about it..so she is going to call the barn manager Lisa..so I got her number last night. I've gotten a ton of places now!!! Thank you COTH members...you have been a great resource as usual!!!!!!!

My horses are currently near Hope Hull in Snowdoun. I'm familiar w/the name Pinocha Farm, but not sure where it is. If I'm not mistaken, Pinocha Farm is near Pintlala (which, again, is very near my horses) Hope Hull is VERY spread out. It's weird ... from one side of 65 in Montgomery County to the other side and down the interstate into Lowndes County.
While it's not very far from base (Maxwell or Gunter) by interstate, with gas prices and time (especially winter when it's dark early), it's really not convenient to Prattville no matter what route you take (again with the cost of gas). It takes about 25-30 minutes to get from my exit 179 (Cobbs Ford Rd) to get to Snowdoun or the Pintlala/Hope Hull I-65 exit.
Of course CARE of the horse(s) is critical when boarding, if the boarder knows they are unable to visit daily and are paying for full care, then time/gas isn't as big a factor as the quality of board and care received.
Anyway, this is why I'm moving ... so I can be back out in the country and have my horses WITH me!
;-)
Also, I have to be a responsible representative of NetPosse and just remind ANYONE BOARDING TO GET IT IN WRITING! Have all the terms clearly written out about costs, farrier care, vet care, emergency care, etc. And KNOW THE LIEN LAWS in the state in which you are boarding.

Wasn't Pinchona Farm once Colonel Morris' place (he is now deceased -- was a trainer/instructor/dressage judge)? I was going to suggest contacting Margaret Dauber who is also in that area (almost next to Pinchona, I believe). She breeds and might board a youngster. She has handled babies for years, so would be a good person if she would do it or would know who to recommend.

Yep, Pinchona was Col. Morris's place. Marianne was a longtime boarder and student of Colonel, and when he passed, they purchased the property. Margaret Dauber is right next door to Pinchona, but I'm not sure if she boards horses.

Odd.. we have a house near Prattville (in Slapout -- yes that is the name of a town!-- between Deatsville and Wetumpka). I could ask around.

There are several options in our area. Most places don’t advertise...its probably to keep the whackos away.
Pinchona is ~4-5 miles away from my house and its a nice facility, no trainer on premises however. It would be easier to get to from Prattville (just a straight shot on I 65).
There are several barns on the east side of Montgomery in the Pike Road area.
I have numbers or can get you numbers to a majority of these places. Just PM me when you get a chance.
