If so, and if you have a story to share about your CANTER horse, we would love to hear from you!
For the fundraising event we are holding on June 27 and 28 (see link to thread below)
http://www.chronicleforums.com/Forum/showthread.php?t=147810
We plan to compile information on some of the available CANTER horses but also information/success stories/pictures from those of you who have a CANTER horse - so here's your chance to do a bit of bragging! If you have a story to share, please feel free to PM me or Moesha, or you can email me at mfiester@hotmail.com
Thanks!!!

I read the title of this thread and thought "Oh! I am! I am!" followed closely by, "Maybe I should skip that thread. If I mention "Rasor D (http://pets.webshots.com/album/555495976ZwDbwS)" one more time on the racing forum somebody's gonna shoot me. "
Whoops. 'Just said it again. :uhoh:

I purchased Storm Gulch from a trainer at Charlestown in WV. I found him through CANTER. We purchased him in April and he has recently just hit his 6th week off the track and boy i couldn't be more proud to be the owner of such a lovely horse.
I dont think I have ever seen a quieter horse in my 15 years of riding hunters. He is lounging nicely both directions and i did my first solo ride on him over this past weekend. He was a superstar touring our property without a single spook in him and not a single problem the entire time. He's a wonderful addition to our barn and we couldn't be more happy to have him here. Im not sure how much if a story he'd make for you-but i'd me more thanhappy to clean himand and get some lovely photos of him for you guys.

Both my CANTER cuties are from CANTER PA..
I have Jay:

and Shorty:
http://pets.webshots.com/photo/2498391510068747398MWIpVz
I've had Jay for a couple of years now and I've written about him a lot on this forum..I almost lost him a while back due to a nasty anterior enteritis, he's a head shaker, and has really bad kissing spine (I obviously didn't know any of this when I got him) He's just a hot mess and I recently rented my own farm so I could manange him how I want to and he's doing great. He won season end Res. Champ at our local dressage circuit, and we hope to get back to eventing this fall.
Shorty i've only had for a few months but is the opposite of Jay.. easy keeper, totally chill, does anything he's asked with out question. He's my trail pony and I love him for it! Everything with Jay is "work" so with Short Man i can just relax.

I loff my CANTER New England horse...I bought him at Suffolk Downs right after his last race last June. Now he's training second level dressage and learning his way around a hunter course. There's nothing more athletic or "cuddly" than your own TB

I've got one as well! She was originally on the CANTER MI trainer listings but was removed... I ended up picking her up from her breeder about a month ago.. Very Very sweet and quiet.. I coach Highschool and Middleschool equestrian team and had one of my middleschool kids practicing showmanship with her last night (10+ other horses in the arena)! A very very intelligent and kind mare!!
... would post pictures but she's not yet 'pretty'! 3/4 through losing a winter coat and currently has about 75-100 additional lbs since purchase...

He is the poster horse for the Stone Gate Horse Trials 07. His JC name is Hubblescope, by Distant View out of a Halo mare. He's doing his first full three day in July.
This is The Quin Man by Stormy Atlantic out of a Pappa Riccio mare:
www.brantgamma.exposuremanager.com/p/kochnancyw/rxbg914817
He spent some time at Novice last year. I'll get him going again after the three day is over. He's also done some hunter/jumper shows.
They are two of the most fun horses ever. Thanks to Brant Gamma and Peter for the great photos.

I'm going to cross-list this in the Off Course forum too - but it seems appropriate on this thread -the "Horsebook" feature of Facebook recently added a group function and I thought it would be fun to see if we could get a "CANTER Alumni" group going!

I got my stallion through CANTER PA. After six years of racing he is an unbelievable hunter now and will have his first foal on the ground next spring. :) I think I got the buy of a lifetime with him.

Here he is at one of the CANTER hunter paces last year:

Oh! Oh! I've have a CANTER mare. Miss Blush (registered name Blushing Maiden) came from CANTER NE. I saw one picture, liked the pedigree and had her shipped to CO. I do need to get some new pictures of her, as she really looks fantastic lately--she's REALLY muscled up--but here's one from last summer:
http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s285/simkie/Horses/Blush.jpg
And here's her CANTER picture:
http://pets.webshots.com/photo/1101990519048290005XTbNoA
She's really just an amazing horse and I love her to pieces. With luck, we'll do some baby events at the end of the summer. I think she's the nicest horse I've ever had, and I've become such a better rider for her. She's very particular about everything so I really haven't had a choice--ride better or GET OFF

My daughter has a horse from Canter that she is currently eventing successfully at Preliminary. He is nice enough in dressage that a Cadre Noir coach commented that he would like to take him back to France.
Had another canter horse that became a successful junior show hunter. Another failed racehorse who never made it to CANTER is now a much loved dressage horse who also hacks nicely cross-country for her owner. And another OTTB (not CANTER) is now a successful eventer taking his young teen up the levels from Novice to Training (was doing Training when we sold him). Have another who only got his gate card who will be a super hunter. OTTB's are wonderful! Tough, been here, done that, sound and sane. And so very happy to have turn out with buddies and hack out.

i bought my first canter horse this june. he raced in april.. he is 4 and very personable. snores--LOUDLY--after grazing all night with his other tb buddy. plan to event him. i call him riley because that is the life he is leading now, the life of riley. he has learned how to eat horse cookies--very polite,, he takes little bites,, he loves his fly mask, spray , and sheet. he is usually quiet but has his moments. i love him.. he is a character and is teaching me patience.. a priceless lesson. you can see his picture on canter in pa more towards the bottom.

Came to the clinic where I work for euthanasia (from Arlington)- adopted him instead. So he never went through Canter, but he's a success anyway! :)

My gelding was listed on CANTER, but I didn't purchase him from them.
There is a local barn owner that gets horses from the track and flips them. She purchased him from his trainer (I think) and brought him up to my area. I tried him a few times, had him vetted and paid her, only to discover that he was currently listed on CANTER for quite a bit less than I paid for him.
Oops!
Ah well, live and learn.
