Mare is well built, substantial and kind. Not sound for riding, but pasture sound. Not bred before. Will transfer JC papers. Located in SC & would like to keep her travel time low - so will only place to approved home within reasonable distance. PM for more info (TB breeders note - no Native Dancer).

Wow! She is really lovely! I wish I were in a position to consider her. I know a stallion I would love to breed to given the right mare, and my distance from you is not too far. One day...

Why is she not ridable?

Giving this reason may help people decide if they can take her.

She is pretty!

wow if she were sound I'm come over from georgia and look at her. I'm not into breeding and am looking for a giveaway OTTB mare and would love to have one like her (old 24 yr old OTTB mare had to be put down last fall).
Good luck. she is lovely.

She is unsound due to ataxia in the hind end. She can balance fine for farrier & picking feet, and moves well in the field, but I would not trust that she could balance herself AND a rider. We are unsure of the cause of the ataxia, but she was treated for EPM last year in case (Marquis & Sulfur drugs). She did exhibit some neuro deficiencies back then. She also had a rough trailer ride to us last year when we took her in, so we wondered if nerve damage from an accident in the trailer may be to blame (though no swelling or heat was ever detected). She was terribly sore through her back after arriving and accupuncture & chiropractic did little to alleviate the soreness. Time has worked in her favor, though, and she's no longer sore.
Two separate vets have agreed that she should be fine carrying a foal, and she is otherwise very healthy...and did I mention sweet & beautiful? :)

Yes, she can live outside no problem (in fact best if she's moving around a lot), as long as she has shelter. She does have the TB thin skin, so the bugs LOVE her, poor thing!

Here's link to her pedigree: http://www.pedigreequery.com/chimney+sweep3

I really hope someone takes her soon & breeds her for an '09. She is lovely.

I was shocked to see nobody has snatched up this gorgeous mare! If I could get her hauled reasonably to TX she would be spoiled here!
