Just curious. How many people plan to watch the Derby (and pre-races) live and how many plan to watch on tape-delay? Or, other?

I will run in and out of the house all day, trying to catch races between working with my horses...whatever works...LOL.

I am throwing a party!!

All horsepeople, many racetrackers. And we all watch and comment on the broadcast, questions, background pieces etc.

since 1965, and that was because I was at a horse show! However, since Go For Wand, I mostly watch them through my fingers, and fortunately, when Chelokee went down yesterday, I was facing the computer. :uhoh:

I voted for #2-- I'll probably watch after the race IF there's been no breakdown. That's what I did with all races after Go for Wand went down-- until Barbaro's Preakness, which I watched live because I have so much respect for Michael Matz. That about did me in. I'll definitely want to see history be made if Eight Belles wins it-- and love the looks and breeding of Big Brown, but just don't want to risk the agony of watching another catastrophe and with today's technology, I don't have to in order to see a race.

I'm working all day today. :( Horsing would be so much easier without that darned money thing.

However, I do work from home - although on a computer time clock and set schedule, and Big Brother is definitely out there if you don't work your scheduled hours and give good production for it. But I've scheduled my supper break most conveniently tonight, should catch the actual race live, and my VCR will grab the full telecast for me.

This year, I will be blissfully watching the Derby my favorite way: live and alone. Every time I watch it with other people, they insist on either not watching the "pre-game show" or on talking through the race.

I was once forced to watch the BC Classic at my in-laws' during a party, and my FIL picked up the remote and turned off the TV in the final furlong.:eek::eek: Boy, was I pissed off!

I do that too, I hide in my bedroom with the crappy tv so I don't have to explain why I am crying!

I still plan on watching racing live and going to the track. My being there/watching or not isnt going to change what happens...and who wants to watch a race whent they know who wins?
