Can shorten up the back a touch & add add a better engine? My mare is a TB & doesn't have a bad hind end, but I'd like a little more back there. Needs to have produced hunters that are amateur friendly as this foal is for me. The mare has a lovely front end, but a prettier head would be a plus though not necessary. Breed/color unimportant at this time, but if a TB, would need to be available for live cover (East Coast) as I'd want JC papers. My mare is a lovely mover, has a great jump and has been sucessful in the hunter ring. I do not have pictures available at this time but I will work on it.
(I really need to change my screen name as I am no longer a first time breeder. I'm mostly just a lurker though.)

Possibly Pablo. I loved the foal I got by him.

Westporte, my filly by him is much shorter backed than her mother. Definitely amateur friendly

Check out Asher (http://ncffarms.homestead.com/NCFfarms.html). Beautiful horse, impeccable temperament, great offspring (many out of TBs) with the right mind set. His owner is also a lovely person to deal with. Good luck in your quest!

I do like Pablo, and I also love Chaleon. He puts beautiful chiseled faces on most big heavy warmbloods, so a Tb cross would be great. Two of my friends are breeding to him this year. He is grey and about 16.1 and does produces good moving pretty horses.
I actually showed against him a few years ago with my mare that I almost considered for him, but I needed something bigger for my TB for her first time because I didn't know what she would produce. She ended up producing a large colt. (dad was 17 hands) I am thinking of Chaleon for when I breed her next.:)
Good Luck!

I was going to suggest Pablo as well :)

Pablo has definitely been a thought. Do those of you that have had babies by him have pictures you can share? What types of mares were they out of? Chaleon is also very intriguing.
To add, mare is 16.3 and some, so a smaller stallion is ok. I am not very big & don't need a moose!

I love Pablo. And I have thought about him for a filly (she is too young now) that is a hunter-type looking filly and has very nice hunter movement.
However, I do have a filly by him (2007) who is out of another mare (dressage type) and she definitely is NOT hunter type in movement. She does have a beautiful refined neck that is really long, but probably is a bit high set for the hunters (although if you have her stretch it out, it looks more hunteresque). As a yearling, she is (still) VERY beautiful and correct and has very long legs. I saw her jump a fallen log in the pasture and she has great form. I love my Pablo filly to death, but think she is more of a dressage horse (or even jumper) based on movement. Here is her photos:

So I am on the fence as far a the movement for hunters from Pablo - it may really depend on the mare. My filly (the 2007 Pablo) has tremendous suspension and keeps her neck very upright while moving (very nice for dressage).
But that being said, I may use him for my hunter type filly in the future because she needs a longer, more refined neck.
Maybe others will chime in as to movement from their hunter-type mares (because at least from my dressage mare, it wasn't hunter movement that my filly got).

This is a 2007 Pablo colt out of my T'bred hunter mare. He has stunning hunter movement:

He was #1 in the country 07 for producing hunter babies, he will shorten backs, has and passes on his beautiful head and neck and, passes incredible temperments that are VERY amateur friendly. I have a gelding by him and Iam breeding another one this spring. Awesome, awesome, awesome:winkgrin:

You can see our Pablo filly on our website http://p2.hostingprod.com/@signaturesporthorses.com/youngsters.html
I can tell you that pictures do not do her justice... she was a knock out. She moved very good as well and had a freakish jump (she jumped an x in the ring on her own). The mare is a bit old style and needs length of leg.. All of the Pablos I have seen in person have been very similar in type and movement. However if I had a mare that moved with a ton of knee I would never expect a stallion to flatten that out. The movement mechanics many times seem to favor the mare and the stallion seems to add things like elasticity.
I have heard that there are some Pablos out there who's heads could be better, I just have not seen any in person and all the ones I have see (all out of lovely mares) were stealable!!

I really like Claim to Fame www.flyingcolorsfarm.com. He's a beautiful mover, great conformation, great jump and very amateur friendly. He and Westporte are the two I liked best for my TB mare.

Claim to Fame is very lovely! He has wonderful conformation, along with a gorgeous head and neck... he is one of my favorites
I do like Pablo (how can you not?) but I would want a mare that consistently threw hunter movement, before I bred to him for a hunter. How about Escudo II? Magical also crosses very well with TB's, Just the Best is worth consideration, Don Alfredo is known for shortening and putting a great behind on them. He is another one of my favorites, and Ragtime appears shorter behind and has an attractive head as well.
Have fun making the pick - it's driving me bonkers!

Check out Artrageous. His first foals are starting to arrive and we are really pleased with them so far!
Plus, he's a TB and on the East coast.

Balta Czar really shortens the back of the TB and puts a butt on then, that is just round and firm and gorgeous!

Stunning Pablo babies! He's at the top of the list followed by Don Alfredo & Westporte though I am not sure if Westporte will shorten the back. Escudo II is also very interesting.
Regarding movement - this mare is competitive in good company so I am not as concerned about it as I might be with a mare who wasn't as nice.

Consider Just The Best (www.tishquirk.com (http://www.tishquirk.com)) in California, or A Fine Romance (TB) (http://www.afineromance.ca) who is Canada.
Both extremely proven.
***edited to see you want live cover for a TB..............sorry***

I too will second and third the suggestions of Balta'Czar and Claim to Fame. I have had 3 Balta'Czar foals and all have short backs, lovely necks and quite the caboose on them. I also have the privilege of living down the road from Claim to Fame and I also collect him :) So I have seen many of his foals (I have one of his 'grandsons'. Frankie on my website) Both Claim to Fame and Balta'Czars owners are wonderful to work with.
Good Luck with your search, there are many lovely hunter stallions to choose from.

I love Ironman offspring!!! They're so easy to work with. I ride with Nancy and have seen them broke undersaddle in person. For example, Iceman was broke to W/T/C by his owner! He also trot-cantered a line (gates mind you) the second lesson. India basically was broke to jump at a horse show! The babies are very amateur friendly in addition to being gorgeous and winners in the hunter classes, but then again they can go on to jump the moon - whatever you want to do, they'll do it for you. And I learned to play "horse show" with Maya when she was 6 months and she could've cared less!
