View Full Version : NJ/DE/MD/PA - Training barns?

Hi! I am looking for a list of local training barns in south NJ, DE, MD, and SE PA. Does anyone know of any barns that lease out stalls to different trainers? I know of one in Mullica Hill,NJ but can't remember the name or it's location.

Bob Jackson's farm near Fair Hill rents out stalls. They have a 1/2 mile track, some round pen turnouts, etc.

Does Sagamore farm still rent stalls? I havent been there for years, but they did back in the early 90s.

Some trainers sometimes (maybe not often) will rent out stalls at Fair Hill (at the training center). There are a number of farms in this area that have tracks & starting gates. Do any of them rent out stalls? Not that I know of, but I wouldn't think it impossible.

I don't believe so. It was recently purchased by Kevin Plank, creator/owner of Under Armour, and is under renovations. I don't think they have many, if any, horses on the farm at the moment.

Do the Simoffs still rent out stalls? They have a 1/2 mile track and a gate... They're near Fair Hill just over the line in PA. I thought they used to rent out stalls, but I could be wrong on that.

Is their farm Twin Ponds? I don't know whether they rent stalls (Twin Ponds and/or the Simoffs) but I know Twin Ponds has a track & a gate. It is right on Rt. 472.

Yes, Twin Ponds. Right off 472 at the bend. I've worked for people with horses there, but I'm not positive whether or not they rent out to the public.

Who bought Elk Creek Ranch? I don't know what anyone would do with that facility besides rent stalls to the public... or tear up the track and turn it into houses.

This is the contact info I found for them. I thought they had a track but I am not sure. They would give some suggestions for sure tho.

I think Our Farm sold off all their TBs. I think one of the owners died and maybe the whole farm was sold. Maybe someone with more than a very vague recollection will chime in. :winkgrin:

I don't have more than a vague recollection either, but I had also heard that they stopped their TB operation. I know the H/J part of the farm is now under new management and definitely not associated with racing in any way.

I have a clear recollection of what happened but the last time I posted about it I got some really nasty phone calls from a lawyer. That said, I have no idea what is up with the property now that the horses were disposed of, so it might be a possiblity.

Are you serious? People need to lighten up in this world! :lol:

The place is definitely under new H/J management and they're still hosting shows, but that's all I know. I'm not in the know anymore now that I've moved south. (Thank goodness!)

One I wonder about sometimes is Sylmar Farm on Maple Shade Road near Kirkwood/Bartville/Christiana PA. They have a huge operation & a track. I'm assuming they don't rent out stalls but I have wondered.

Of course, anyone with enough money could buy Tapeta Farm & make it into a training center.

Well lets just say, things weren't exactly as they appeared, and apparently they didn't like that discrepency being pointed out.

I believe it. I had some professional dealings with some members of the family several years ago and uh, let's just say....not my kind of people......
