Now Reba - 500 on Chemetrics!!

We have 2 mares that are looking ready. We may be switching the cam back and forth tonight.

Cece is at 350 on chemetrics. She's 'early' but looks ready. She's in foal to Abke by Accorado I.

Reba is overdue by 2 weeks, in foal to Regazzoni. She's been acting laborish all day. Vet stuck arm in there an said foal is approaching the cervix.

Going to be a long night, possibly long weekend!!

AND it's STORMING like crazy here!

At 350 on Chemetrics, you are VERY VERY close!!! My mares that have gotten that high have all gone in a matter of hours (2-6 hours) after that!

Well I'm not convinced she'll foal tonight. It's certainly going to be a long night.

Storms have gone, the wind is BLASTING out of the NW and the temps are dropping rapidly.

Camera is on Cece. I watched her on and off last night, too. She was biting at her sides every so often, tail flagging and lifting off center and walking around sniffing the ground... Thought she would go then, but she never did and that was around 3-4am central time. Now it appears she's been turned out, cause I don't see Cece in the stall.

Hi all, whew! Cece had a colt! It was a dystocia, but all is well. He sure is a nice looking foal, really gorgeous head and neck. Poor mare was exhausted from the foaling as was he, but he's up and nursing now. Cece was good enough to donate a large bottle of colostrum for my freezer. :D:D

We switched the cam over tonight to Reba. Last night she didn't even register on Chemetrics. Tonight she's at 300 !!! :eek::eek: She is a maiden mare, in foal to Regazzoni. We had the 2 mares turned out periodically today and rebe rolled a LOT outside, we thought she'd actually go first! :lol:

She's in labor and of course she went down w/ her backend out of the view of the cam. Hopefully she'll get back up to shift the foal and lay down in view!! Come on Reba!!

ETA: Looks like she's really pushing now and being a very good girl. Can just see her tail and a little bit of air space in the cam. Looks like someone is trying to get her get up. Hopefully the foal is in the right position. Poor girl, she doesn't want to get up!

I believe she's foaled, as I saw someone w/ a towel go to her backend, and another w/ straw. Reba is a bit more relaxed now. Anxious to hear what she had and to see him/her!! Darn camera angles...

I see the foal now, what a cutie and look at that nice blaze. Poor little water spider baby. lol... There's definitely some bling on that baby, four white legs and pretty high in front. I think I need to look at the daddy to that one. Mom must have more white on her than I thought! Cause daddy sure doesn't. Mom still down, but baby is up. Very cute!!

Thanks. The mare is a Rabicano so the bling is from her. 2 tall stockings behind like the mare, blaze and white lower lip. He's VERY spunky! My good friend Laura is the owner/breeder.

This was a difficult delivery. The mare was exhausted as was I. She really had a horrible time delivering him and would NOT get up so I could rearrange the foal. I had to do what I could with her down and her butt in the corner. She was badly bruised and bled a little (not bad, just some veins) and appeared to seize 2x on us (I think she just fell asleep, not really seizing), but all is well so far. This mare is a maiden and was just so shocked at the whole ordeal. She finally got up and then passed the placenta about 15 minutes later so I was able to get 10cc of banamine into her IV and then she really perked up. Poor girl.

Anyway, 2 down, 2 to go!! :lol:
