Hello all,

I have a possible breeding lease to an Old/TB mare.. She has no Old. or TB papers though. She is registered American warmblood. She is 15.2 HH. with substantial bone. Short backed.

This is what I am looking for:

Either:
Old. or Holst. stallion. (open to other breeds, too.)
Jumping ability
Close to or over 17 hands
REASONABLE stud fee (below $1000 inc. booking)
Temperment

What are you recommendations? Thank you!

Do you have a photo and her pedigree? What discipline does she do? What discipline are you breeding for?

Check out the stallion line up that the BWP has this year. I adore Cielo B ( we are breeding my Riverman to him next week) and his owner Ronda is great to deal with. They also have some other top quality boys that you might like.

Do you have a pic of your mare? What needs to be improved?

Avebury WF fulfills your requirements.

Well,
a picture or a pedigree would help, you always want to search keeping in mind what will improve your mare.
I would reccomend Lotus T to add heght, bone, and jumping ability.
Also check out new stallion Reesling, he has some mavelous older lines and he is well over 17H.

I am expecting a foal from Gatsby this June. He is over 17h (17.1 maybe?) He is by the famous jumper Gonzo I and is himself a very good jumper. He is registered Oldenburg and fully approved Old NA, BWP and RPSI. And he has an excellent temperment which he passes on to his foals. I'm very excited about my foal. If your mare has AWS papers documenting her pedigree back 3 generations, you should be able to get full papers on the foal from any of these registries. Gatsby's stud fee is reasonable. I think with their early booking incentives it is below or around $1K, but in the middle of the season it might be over. Happy stallion shopping!

This is Cadence as a two year old. This is the only recent picture I have. She is however substantially big boned. She just needs more hight. She stands 15.2HH. but this could be because of an injury that happened right after this picture was taken. She has unknown damage in her hind end and possibly her neck. She is sound when not worked intensely. She is a proven mare. Sweet sweet temperament.

I am considering Mannhattan, and old/ISR stallion from one of the members on this forum here. He looks like he could cross well with her to give me a nice jumper prospect.

Tell me what you think!
Thank you,
Audrey

I like your mare, especially in the front. I'd be looking for a stallion with an exceptional hind end to cross with her. IMO, she could use a bit more length in the hip and femur.

I have 2 Mannhattan foals and will probably breed to him again someday. My 2 foals are full siblings out of the same mare. The oldest is 7. He is a very good jumper and matured about 16.2 or 16.3 out of a 16.1 mare. The second is almost 3 and is still under 16h. I don't think she will be as tall as her brother. Both have good temperments. Both are extremely well put together. The second was a premium foal; the first didn't make it to his foal inspection. He was inspected at 2. I almost didn't geld him because he was so perfect as a foal. I'm sure he would have been premium. Hence the breed back to the same dam. Both also have very good movement. You can't go wrong with Mannhattan, but if you are trying to get something close to 17h, he may not get that much height for you. If you just want something over 16h, you should be ok. I think my 3 yo will mature around 16.1.

Well, as long as I can get some oom-pa-pa over fences. ;)

I would certainly look at Avebury, Cielo B, and at Manhattan. All are really terrific stallions.
