My first ever homebred TB filly runs today at Folkestone in England. I have probably just jinxed her. She is owned by a syndicate which we manage and find it's a great way to give the mares a shot at having winners. Her name is Soul Sista and she's a 2yo. It's a field of 6 so we'll see how she does!

I remember that like it was yesterday! I didn't sleep for three nights beforehand and had to get someone else to saddle her because I was too nervous. She is now 10 years old, retired completely sound after earning $130,000 and has her second foal by her side. I hope your filly is even more successful, best of luck to you!

Good Luck Terri!!!!

I know how stressful it is! We are waiting for foal #1 out of our mare to make his first start...

Hey, thanks for putting the replay up!

She did run second and it sounds terrible because it ended up a 4 horse field but she hopped at the start and lost a bit. She was also the only filly in the field. The horse that beat her has run already and she was only a length from him. I really am happy with her and she should improve from the run.

When you think of all the horses in training that never even get to the races, I'm pretty happy with her debut!

:D

Soul Sista kicked butt today and won by 5 going away. I haven't a clue how to put up the race replays, but today's race is so much better! Well ok she did win, but she did it in a nice way.

So very proud of the "Mouse". This is her barn name on the count of how small she was when she was born.

Anyway, we are celebrating in the barn with a bottle of Champagne. Told husband Fraamy, the mother, was not allowed to have any because she could possibly be pregnant. We will know on Friday.

Wow, even more congratulations! :)

And fingers crossed that Fraamy has a sista (or brotha) in the oven, hehe. ;)

Congrats Terri.
Nice win, finished with plenty left in the tank, looks like she has acres of improvement in her yet. Great to see a young one run a bit green and still win by daylight. Game little filly, and quite the looker too.

Here's with the Racing Post had to say about it...
SOUL SISTA, who ran with stacks of promise when runner-up at Folkestone on her debut last week, went one better in grand style. Ridden to lead approaching the final furlong, she ran green in front, but she responded to pressure to put some daylight between herself and her rivals. She is going the right way.

Btw, Beverly is an RUK racecourse, so the replay is available on the Racing Post site, but unlike AtTheRaces who have a free archive, the RP/RUK charge a fee to watch their replays, 20p (40cents) for full race, 10p(20cents) for a finish. Well worth it though.

Thank you everyone for your kind words!

Drvmb,
I'm so glad you got to see her. We always thought she was a pretty girl, but we can be barn blind sometimes! She has always had one huge a** on her.

A cute little story to tell you. At afternoon chores today I was in pulling a mares mane. I heard the dogs go off barking like the lunatics they are and then hear my husband say, go see who that is will ya. He's doing nothing so I'm like, ok because I'm not doing anything. So I go stomping around to the front of the house and see scared guy in car - dogs - but he has a huge bouquet of flowers for me. So I read the card and it says: Terri, None of this would have been possible without you. Thanks Brian and the Lads. Brian and the Lads are the Living In The Saddle Syndicate whom own Mouse. Well I just burst out crying. I just am one of those people who never expects anything, as you do in the racing game, and well it really just made me so happy for so many reasons. As many of you know, I'm an American living in Ireland and while I love it here, I do miss my family and sometimes miss life at the track. None of my friends ever really keep in touch and they aren't really interested in life beyond the track. So to come here, start from scratch, a complete novice at the new things I was doing, and have appreciation from a bunch of really nice Lads, well it really just got to me. And it means when the wet winters are here, I'm walking around in barn attire most of my day, wiping babies butts, scraping together some months, staying up late with your mares full of worry, riding babies on horrible misreable days, and going through the pain of losing Mouse's sister last year, you just know that somewhere along the line you got it right. And to have a bunch of grown men fly over to England because they just know their filly needs them as they put it, well it has to pull at your heartstrings a little.

Many special thanks to Living In The Saddle Syndicate!

Well fair play to them, lovely gesture. Hopefully they'll get many more good days out with her and plenty of craic. Are they local fellas?

From Drogheda so they are. They will be closer to their filly when she comes home this fall as we are moving to Slane, actually the new place is pretty close to Newgrange.
