I will be rooting for Simon.

Could possibly have a runner on Thursday of the festival.

In other Aintree action, Kauto Star is running in Thursday's totesport Bowl and on Friday, the AWESOME Master Minded is entered in the Melling Chase.

Master Minded's win at Cheltenham was the race of meeting. He's a gorgeous horse to look at, a brilliant runner and it's hard to believe he's only 5.

I hope Kauto Star gets another win. I felt bad for him at the Gold Cup. At the testing barn, he was posing and preening for the onlookers (I have some nice pics) while Denman plodded quietly around.

Yebbut - for 5 quid, it's a lot cheaper than a return flight, hotel and pomagne! And who knows, one might even win (fat chance, I know, but always a consideration).

The majority of posters on this forum, being US residents, can not open accounts with British bookies... at least not legally. Uncle Sam seems to have some bizarre ideas about where and when people can bet. Land of the free and all that.
Some of the stateside online betting sites, youbet, xpressbet etc might be showing the race on their online viewing. Though once again, as to who can and can't legally sign up for those sites is a bit labyrinth depending on what state you live in.

Interesting - the legalities had not occured to me.

Last year I was able to download the race live with no restrictions - I wonder if the rules have since changed.

The 40 runners have been announced. The last minute defections of Ollie Magern and Cornish Rebel mean Dun Doire and Philson Run make it into the race. The 12yo Hedgehunter tops the field at 166lbs along with Hi Cloy. Some savage money coming in on Cloudy Lane, who has been slashed to 5/1 with the bookies, making him the shortest price favourite in years.

Cracking race that was.
The blunder at the 2nd last cost him imo, seemed to rattle him somewhat, should have had it in the bag but looked like his confidence vanished. So while the rally from OV has looks to be one of the all time comebacks, I think it was more a case of K handing it off.
Amazing how not that long ago there was an air of invinsibilty about this horse. He's still a good horse, almost great horse, mind you, but he's... well, beatable now.

The Liverpool Hurdle (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RduMvJhau_0) threw up a great finish too. Inglis Dever seems tired, the old man could stand a rest.

Can't wait for Masterminded tomorrow in the Melling. Normally I don't get excited about potential blow outs, find them boring, but just watching this horse run is a gift from the gods. He's trading at 1/4 with some bookies, should be a canter.

I think it was Kauto Star's gorgeous jump at the 3rd last that did him in. He just flew by Our Vic on that one, then got cocky and tried to replicate it at the next one -- and missed.

Our Vic was terrific at Cheltenham in the Ryanair Chase when he beat Mossbank by a good 5 lengths or so. He's just not the fanciest thing on 4 legs so I think he gets a bit underrated.

Monet's Garden and Exotic Dancer were non-factors. Perhaps they need a break too.

I'm looking forward to Master Minded too. He was the horse of the Festival and the effort took so little out of him, I expect he'll be much the same tomorrow.

Well there were question marks about Masterminded's ability to stay. I saw an interview with Paul Nicholl's a couple of months ago where he hinted at such, saying that it was a shame they didn't card 1m6f chases, as that would be his prefect distance. I guess he's the classic "Two-Mile chaser".

Just 12 hours away now from the the biggest race in the world, 4:15pm post time (local time) for the Grand National. The bookies will take a hammering if Cloudy Lane wins, the money is apparently still pouring on this horse.
Would love to the old man Hedgehunter get up there again at the age of 12. You have to think Ruby must fancy his chances given he stuck with him despite having the pick of most any horse in the race.

Another resource handicaping the field (http://www.metro.co.uk/sport/other/article.html?in_article_id=133337&in_page_id=52)

Still no coverage of this race on BBC America. All I see if Top Gear and Dr. Who all day long. Such a waste as it otherwise is dark in North America which is absurd!

TVG shows British Racing and especially steeplechasing every Sunday, [ast summer I think it was daily,] but when they run a BIG race, like Cheltenham Gold Cup, or the Grand National, they are not televised?
oh, btw, not on today...
