Here is the update, also on the last post... (still page 1)

http://behindthebit.blogspot.com/2008/04/non-warmbloods-in-dressage-breath-of.html

Hi,

I'm looking for videos up non-warmbloods (tbs, arabs, morabs, morgans, QHs, etc) who have made it past, say, 3rd level. I've mostly been searching youtube and have found some good examples, but could use more. If anyone has or knows of video, please share!

Thanks so much.

I uploaded videos of Courtenay Fraser (WA) and her GP Dressage horse "Against All Odds" -- a 14 years old Belgian Draft/TB/Quarter, former PMU foal. She got him as 4 year old while she herself was only 14 years old. They progressed from Training to GP together.

Look at the confirmation of this gelding at walk first:

Google Chrissa Hoffman and Harry Callahan, or search YouTube. She is planning on taking him Grand
prix this year.

Guus doesn't actually compete GP, he just knows the movements. There's a Haflinger who does the GP movements as well in Holland, can't think of his name right now though...

There's actually 8 welsh cobs who have successfully competed at Prix St. George or higher. Unfortunately I cannot find any video clips on any of them. Chime competed through Grand Prix, Gerrig Quest through Intermediete II, 4 Madoc produce (sons of Chime) who've reached Prix St. George. Baltic back in the early 90's reached Prix (won USDF All-breeds). Cresent Moon Lancelot has/is competing at Prix St. George too. I'm also told through the grapevine that North Fork's Cardi is at Prix now though haven't confirmed it. There's also several of us who have been or are competing at 4th level with our welsh & welsh cobs. Many with our sights on Prix St. George.

Love the blog BTW.

I've actually contacted PaynGo's owner imploring her to post video to youtube, and I'd sure love to see a video of Keene. I wonder if anyone is archiving that kind of footage -- KY horse park, USDF, etc...

Thanks!

Kentchurch Chime actually has several Welsh Cob offsprings actively competing at FEI, anywhere from Prix St. George to Grand Prix who are very successful. One went to NAYRC a few years back and did fairly well.

What very cool video's and how refreshing to see Non Warm Bloods for a change performing those upper level movements and very well I might add.

Eclectic - what a cool video of the Stallion from back in the 60's. I loved it when the piece of news paper blew right into his front legs and he just kept doing what he was doing with out a care in the world. Now that is focus...

Loved everyone's videos thanks so much for sharing them with all of us. Keep them coming...

As of March 1st Chime had 4 offspring who have competed at FEI levels at recognized shows. I am aware of several more who are either competing at third and above or have shown unrecognized. According to the USDF database the 4 who have shown Prix St. George and above sired by Chime are listed as follows: Madoc Prince Henry, Madoc Prince Edward, Madoc Patriot (who took Sarah to NAYRC) and Madoc Ambridge Rose. Now I did collect scores for Madoc Dylan at 4th but as of March 1st there were no scores listed at higher levels. If there are others who have competed at Prix St. George and above they are not recorded with USDF in so far as the scores go. There are over 30 Madoc bred welsh registered with USDF; so, I'm sure in the future there will be more to add to the list. I'm certainly hoping a few of mine will be with our eyes set on next year for Prix St. George, though none of mine are by Kentchurch Chime. All I can say is GO WELSH COBS!

Wow! But I'm with you Exvet, Welshies are awesome. I've seen a Chime daughter who is a broodmare. She really has a stunning presence before you, made some real nice babies too!

I don't have time to hunt for videos right now, but I believe the connemara stallion Tre Awain DeValera competed GP with Mari Monda Zdunic. Also, Orrie Decaster's GP horse five or so years ago was a clydesdale/TB bred in Canada.

Harry Callahan and Chrissa Hoffmann, currently the only GP saddlebred in the world. Scored a 62% in wellington, FL and placed 6th out of 12th beating many nice warmbloods.

I went to a dressage show a few years ago in the Atlanta area, at Chateau Elan, and there was a woman there riding a Percheron/TB cross who I think showed PSG. One of the upper levels for sure. He was a really lovely gray gelding who looked like an old type European WB. Maybe someone from the Atlanta area knows who that was. I always regretted not writing down the pair's names so I could follow up on their career.

Not sure if my guy qualifies since he is part Warmblood, but I have a pinto Friesian/Warmblood cross that just debuted at Prix St George. Don't have the rides on Youtube, but I have video of him schooling various upper level movements - search for MysticOakRanch for various video clips. He's only been in dressage training a few years now ;)

And a while ago, I had seen video of Cardi (the Welsh Cob) doing PSG - it was on youtube. And Hilda Gurney was riding a NSH (Arab Saddlebred cross) at Grand Prix a couple of years back. And there are a few other Arabians and Morgans out there doing at least PSG. Last year, at the local CDI, someone was showing an Irish Sport Horse at PSG. And of course, I bet we could find some Andalusians and Friesians on Youtube if we looked. Dressage is definately not limited to the Euro-Warmbloods:winkgrin:

Balagur performed in both the 2004 and 2008 Olympics. He received a perfect 10 for his piaffe in World Cup Competition. He raced at two and was a mounted police horse for ten years before he was "discovered" and trained for dressage. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SaiVtHS6VrI

I don't have a video clip posted yet but should be able to do so this weekend. However, my 10 year old welsh cob has competed a handful of times at Prix St. George at both schooling and recognized shows. We actually made our debut, if you will, at a recognized show this past weekend winning our first Prix St. George class with only a 62.7% but I'll take it. (There were 2 other amateurs and 2 open riders on warmbloods that we bested. I must confess though that the two YR's riding PSG who did receive sl. higher scores 63 & 64% I think but we're talking quality horses that are way out of our league.) Not only is my guy not a warmblood but has rather challenging conformation that he must overcome to do the job. His heart however is endless which is what has made it possible. We even received 6's on all but one of our canter pirouettes over the weekend from both judges so I certainly consider it a minor victory. We show again at another recognized competition in a couple of weeks.

So while I will work on getting a video posted. Here is a link & directory directions to the pictures that the professional photography got of one of our tests. Hopefully it will work.

My trainer has one of these cobs from Madoc Farm and competes him Grand Prix. He may be the one you're thinking of from young riders, I think she competed him there as well.

How about a 15.1 hand Morgan cross that does Grand Prix? Showed at Devon last year.

Oh, and the cross is NOT warmblood. The dam was a grade horse that looked like a TB.
