Ok, it seems like there's a fair number of NorCal trail riders on this board. I think perhaps we should all meet up!

Where are all y'all and where do you like to go?

I'm in the foothills, and can go anywhere in Nevada, Placer, or El Dorado counties! Or I could go down to the East Bay if Mt. Diablo is an option.

I have Miles, my QH trail pony extraordinaire (although he can be a pokey QH) and Paddy, my TB other trail pro (who loves to be out front). I'd be up for a camping trip if others would - that way we could meet up and come from farther away and have a whole weekend!

Well you know I am in! I can't do it until the first weekend in April or later since I work this weekend and next, but that gives me time to get a saddle :)

Just be warned my horse is no where near ready for the Tevis or anything remotely like it. And someone might need to pony me ;)

Hi Ponies! ;)
Cool has beautiful trails this time of the year, but it gets very hot und dusty there in the summer. Folsom Lake is another possibility as are all the trails up by me: Sly Park Lake, Leone Meadows, Omo Ranch, and for the hotter days Silverlake and all the high mountain trails! I'm definitely up for a day ride. Camping is a bit harder since I have shows almost every week-end and also 2 little kids (4 year old and 1 year old)!

I'd love to meet in Cool! Mr. PoPo and I bought property in Greenwood and have been eyeing the trails out there but just haven't gotten to it yet. I'm kind of a weenie about going trail riding someplace new the first time without an escort, as I tend to get lost easily!!

Let's do it! :)
I have a big show coming up in a week and haven't practiced much due to my whole family coming down with a terrible flu. So things will be pretty crazy for the next week or so, but after that I'm available and in dire need of a relaxing trail-ride! Looks like that would work with Perfect Pony's schedule as well. By the way PePo, you can ride one of my horses if you don't feel yours is quite ready yet! :)

That would be fun! Here are some maps:

Cool - Olmstead Loop behind the fire station:

or Cronan Ranch farther south off of 49

Maybe sometime in April?

Cronan, that's right! I always forget about that place! Also very nice and a bit shorter drive for me since I'm coming from the other side of 50! ;)

Aww, you guys are too far out for me this time. I think I am on the other side of the Foothills. Let me know when you come out my way.

Count me in! I'd probaby bring my old gal... I haven't ridden my greenie in big groups yet, so I'd probably end up walking the entire day :~)

I really like Cronan for the wide trails, but when it gets hot, Olmstead has a lot of water crossings to cool off in.

I thought I would revive this, any chance we can get it together? I took my mare out today on her 4th ever trail ride and she was so good. 2 hours in Briones Park, we even decided to herd some cattle for fun and she had a blast. I am also newly unemployed and want to take advantage of this amazing spring weather!

Anyone?

I'm still in! Let's do it before it gets too hot! :)

How about Folsom Lake? Is that fairly easy for everyone to get to? I've never been there, but PePo could come up to my place for a sleepover with Miss GG and we could trailer there together...

Gotta get Miles out. Poor boy, I've been neglecting him in favor of Mr. PoPo's horse, but Mr. PoPo will now be able to start riding again so trail riding, here we come! I'm taking the little pony out tomorrow - wheeeeee!!!!!! :)

Well I am game for anytime - maybe Folsom or that Olmstead loop? I am feeling quite brave with my western saddle.

So when shall we go? The Dunc has new shoes and is feeling fine. (watching the today show - what happened to Steve Winwood?)
I live fifteen minutes from Folsom and have to tell you it is beautiful now (or was last weekend) with lots of wildflowers. Anyone up for tomorrow? We have a show in the am but can go around 2 for a few hours.
(actually Mr Winwood sounds great!)

I show on the week-ends, usually just one of the days, but I don't want to ask my husband to take care of the kids two days in a row. Can you guys ride during the week? Folsom is quite a drive for me (about an hour one direction), but so is almost everything else! Where is the Olmstead loop? I've never heard of that one!

If I drive from my house anything in the foothills will be 1.5-2 hours one way. I am currently unemployed however, and free on weekdays.

Isn't the Olmstead loop in Cool?

I can't do weekdays, sorry! I could do next next weekend, however (the weekend after Mother's Day) - I'm going to a horse trials next weekend.

I can do Cool or Folsom relatively easily.

Oh, maybe the Olmstead loop is just what I'm used to calling Cool? The trails behind the firehouse? Cool is a little closer to me (about 45min), but I could do either (Folsom or Cool).
I'm showing at Starr Vaughn the week-end after Mothers day, and this time I'm actually showing both days, so that week-end is definitely out for me! :(
No shows the week-end after that though!

I might be able to get up there on the 17th-18th

I can do the weekend after the weekend after Mother's Day...Cool would be cool. Mr. PoPo and I have property about 10 minutes from there - someday we'll build a house and a barn and and and . . .but for now it is just 11 acres of trees and grass!
