Thanks for watching my very confused, grumpy maiden mare. She is dripping milk.
Now she just needs to get down to business.

I thought maybe it was my imagination...she looked like she was thinking about it....

She thinks about it a lot. Now she needs to do it!

Think she will go tonight?

LOLOL!!! I really thought I was done with maidens, but....
Well, ya see....
Since it is Yak's last year breeding LC, and I am buying a jumper mare that I want to do ET with... I have this TB mare that needs to have a baby before I can use her as a recipient mare....
Next spring I will be crying the maiden mare woes!!!

Earlier I thought for sure tonight was the night. She has been uncomfortable and active most of the day. Now of course she is sleeping. Gotta love maidens.

My maiden is due on 4/26 - she already has me stressed out! I hope for you she goes tonight and you have an uneventful foaling....off to bed for me....

LOL, Genevieve....your mares are under the scope, again!
And, yes, I've been watching Sophie for a while....and was another who thought tonight. In other words: you're not alone, CG!

I have gotten "hooked" again this year. Sophie is quite the sleeper, but yesterday I thought with all her activity she might go ahead and foal. Why or why am i watching this??? I still have 9 of my own left to foal. YIKES!!

Well, I WASN'T until I stopped and read this thread right before bed last night. So I logged on to G's cam.... and GOT SUERTE'D!!!! On my one and only foal cam look so far this season!!!!!
My own mares are most definitely NOT cooperating. The mare that always foals at 320 has not much of a bag at all -- and 320 this year is on 3/23 for her.... just a few days away.
Patience is not something I have an oversupply of, and I'm getting tired of waiting! I thought maybe G's mare would tide me over.... guess not. LOL

Been watching many of the marestare mares (along with my own: http://www.marestare.com/goldenventure.php )
Fancy, if any mare, needs to FOAL! Poor little thing looks like she is going to POP!
My mare Kerry is very ready as well. Full bag, loose behind, now starting to get edema along belly. Watching her and waiting. She basically has a fit if she doesn't go out during the day, so for now she is released from mare jail again today LOL.
Good luck to everyone for a safe and happy foaling season!!

Ugh...that Kerry mare is stubborn. Maybe I'll get lucky and she'll have a day-time foaling so I can see it!
Come on Kerry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm on my 3rd mare this season... http://www.marestare.com/emerald.php
Chloe is technically "due" today, but I don't THINK she will go tonight.. but she is close (I'm guessing this weekend).
She is an Anglo TK (by Carino o/o a T'bred mare) and is in foal to the deceased TK stallion, Veneziano. VERY excited about this foal!!!

I watch my own and peep in on others some too...
Our foaling Cam http://www.marestare.com/norsiretwo.php
Our back up Cam to watch the foals once they are born http://www.marestare.com/norsire.php
I did get up one night at 3:00 AM and could not sleep and I got to watch two foalings back to back..one QH farm that had a text book foaling and then a started a mini foaling until it went bad and they turned off the Cam.

I'm watching my own also...3 of them right now. Our cams are private right now on our own web server but I do have broadcasting capability. I just don't have the bandwidth to support more than a few folks on at a time watching so we limit spectators to clients for their own mares and folks affiliated with our breed (for our Col. Spanish mares.)
I'm not sure I want everyone watching me anyway! ;-) It is a weird feeling to be in front of those cams and know people are watching you!
I don't know how you other breeders all can stand to watch all those cams. I'd have heart palpitations if I saw a mess like the one last year everyone was talking about. I'm stressed out enough already!

My experience has been wonderful and I have met a lot of very nice people along the way as well. :D I had another Cam owner repeatedly tell me to keep them private and for the life of me I could not figure out why..I was told the comments could be cruel and most watching don't know what they are doing. I've found the opposite and it has been a great experience for me so far!!! It is great having extra eyes when you need to sleep that you know you can count on and not let you down!!! But if you are a very private person and don't want to, then the private Cams are certainly an option.:) I honestly don't have time to watch a bunch of other mares unless I'm watching my own at the time, since I do have to sleep and do barn chores everyday. ;)

I'm watching four of my own and STILL get hooked on marestare. Our cameras will be public by next week. No more delivering foals in my bathrobe I guesss <g>

LOL! I said the same exact thing! No more night checks without pulling on some "real clothes", no more foaling out in whatever I was sleeping in... I now make sure I have jeans laying around and for the first two a sweatshirt.
I will admit that it still feels odd occassionally if I think about everyone "watching" me but so far I haven't had a "bad" experience with what is said or done on line..

I do have to be careful what I go out in the barn in now..and having a bedroom right next to the foaling stall and only 5 feet from the door I go out to the foaling stall...I do have to stop and say..wait need more clothes on!!! Once the mare's water breaks, honestly I forget all about the cameras I'm so focused on the mare foaling and making sure all goes well...once the foals is born, I'm then thinking about cord dip, getting the foal up and nursing and the enema once the foal is up...ect ect...I forget the Cams are on at times.;)

Nobody looks at what you are wearing, they are too focused on the mare. You do have to remember not to pee in that stall while she is turned out though.....

LOL, or pick your nose, or rear end.. or other embarrasing things (kidding).:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:
Seriously, I'm with Norsire, once I'm out there and it is "show time" I forget everything else - but it was an erie feeling the first few times I went out to the barn. Esp when you come back in and you find out that there were more people than you were expecting "watching" you.

LOL! I don't have far to go to use a real bathroom..so I don't have to worry about forgetting and using my stall...never use them!!!:lol:

I actually did that last year right after our cams went on line! The good news was it was daytime and I **hope** no one was watching. If someone was, they were discreet and did not mention it! How embarrassing! :o
Well, for us to make our cams public and open to all, we'd have to use a service like Marestare since we can only have very limited numbers on at one time. What does that cost? How do you get your signal to them exactly?

I'm watching :D Weird, no straw bedding?... i wonder if this mare went early. she certainly looked large enough!

Grey Dun: I asked the same question on their foal cam message board. Dont think they like me much. Mostly ignore me. Its a "group" that reply. I watched her for about 2 mins and said she looks suspicious to me. No No they said ( or some such words) and then I knew she was foaling. Since they have been watching her for weeks I wondered why no straw. Guess I am just weird

I agree - I thought it was strange. At least they were there though (isn't it 7PM their time?)... Looks like it was a fairly quick and straight-forward birth luckily...and someone was able to get in there with the iodine pretty quick, too (at least that's what it looked like). Poor Mama, she still looks so huge! She's going to pop out a whole litter.

Depending on where they are located, getting straw may be difficult. I have had that problem some years in South Florida, but then I used a less expensive hay in its place.
Sugarbrook
Mar. 22, 2008, 10:39 PM
I had to use HAY in an emergency when I had two foal at the same time, one not due for weeks. Used up all my staw on the one i expected. Hay did an OK job in a pinch. I didnt feel bad for using SOMETHING!!! And FAST!!!! LOL

Darn these mares for foaling in the one corner you can't see...
Get up baby!! We want to see you!

Mar. 22, 2008, 10:45 PM
I've done the same thing... hay works well in a pinch! Or a sweatshirt (or a catcher's mitt?)...although I don't recommend that. Hehe.
Check out the mare on Mare Stare at Top Line Performance Horses... they certainly bandaged up that tail...sheesh. She must be showing some good signs, perhaps? Doesn't look like it to me (but then again, you obviously don't get a great view from these things of course!)

It looks like there's a kid (maybe?) crouched down in the doorway of the Sonrisa Farms cam... I'm just waiting for him to get slapped in the face by that swinging placenta when she walks past.... gross.

YEA, catchers mitt. Thats what i needed for the last foal a month ago. This mare, her second, decided to foal at 11 am. Nice time. I was thrilled. Nice and quiet in the barn, nice quiet mare. No stress whatsoever. BUT mare decided to foal standing up. My weekend barn gal, who has never seen a foal born (but MISS EXPERIENCED MARE FOALER was telling her how it would be) thats me of course------ and suddenly i realized this was not text book and told her and my daughter "LADIES and GENTLEMEN I think we will be catching this one" Sure enough, she foaled, just very nicely, standing up!!!!

Stacie - I've been watching that one, too...
But I can't take my eyes off this poor, bloated little creature: http://www.marestare.com/crosscreek.php She looks SO miserable. I hope she hatches out a cute little tyke soon...

Does the mare on sonrisa #5 seem unusually disinterested in her foal?
GreyDun
Mar. 22, 2008, 11:27 PM
She seems pretty uncomfortable to me...maybe a tad colicky. Didn't she already pass the placenta? But yeah, you're right...uninterested. Although as I type this she's staring at him toddling around... so, maybe he's just starting to pique her interest now:yes:

Marestare has due dates posted and Mak is not due until April 11th.
I was very surprised by how few of the mares seem to be overdue.
