The US lost a great stallion today in Graf Genius. He succumbed to colic this morning. He was, in my opinion, a wonderful stallion who was very underutilized. I am very proud to have an oustanding daughter of his who will hopefully carry on his legacy as will his many other offspring. Godspeed Genie. Enjoy the green pastures and all the pretty girls.

I am very sad to see this post. Lucile Broadley is a first class SO and a joy to work with. I have bred two Graf Genius offspring and have been thrilled with the improvements he made. Gene wasn't that old and had many good years left. I am sure Lucile is devasted....first Vinnie, now Gene. It is tough to be a breeder. My deepest condolences to everyone at Honey Locust Farm.

I just heard this today and am in total shock.

I own a mare by the name of Graf Diva out of Gene...she is very laid back like her daddy.

He definitely stamped all his kids with those beautiful soulful eyes and even temperment. I remember a tree crashing and falling last year while I was on my little 5 year old mare...I thought it was going to be the death of me...she could have cared less, nor did she care with the nonhorsey neighbor decided to shoot a snake about 1000 feet from our ring...I jumped clear out of my saddle, she never blinked. I've heard all the Graf babies have this laid back personality.

RIP you beautiful boy.

I was just googling something today about Graf Genius and it led me to this thread.

My condolences to Lucille and Honey locust farm . I rode for her back in college and was just there to visit around this time last year and gave Gene a big pat.

This is a great lost.
