I have a Oldenburg/TB mare has had her hunter career cut short due to an injury, and am planning on breeding her this season. She is a great mare, amazing temperment, nice conformation, good mover(not a hack winner though) and jumps very well. Her only major down faults in my eyes are that her neck is set a little low and could be ideally longer, she is a tiny bit downhill, as well as her height(only 15.2).
Does anyone have any suggestions for taller (16.3 +) stallion's who throw calm, ammy-friendly personalities, long, well set necks, and superb hunter movement?

What's the mare's type like? What would you like to improve with her movement? I can think of a few that may improve the neck-set & length, but you may have to budge in other areas...
If you could post a picture that'd be great :)
The first ones that pop in my mind are Just The Best & Rio Grande.
But I'd also take a look at Cabalito, Cunningham, Idocus, and maybe DaCaprio.

I would second Rio Grande and Just The Best..
A couple others are Carbardino, Rafaello (Sp? Another Raphael son) and Chaleon. They all win the hack and have lovely necks and personalities..

I will third the Just the Best & Rio Grande & also add Westporte, DaCaprio & Don Alfredo. Posting a picture of the mare would help a lot. ;)

I would second Rio Grande, and Idocus. I would add Roc USA (father is Idocus)
Rio Grande has a lot of offspring doing very well.
Idocus has some hunter type offspring
Roc USA has hunter and jumper offspring and he is 17 hands. My mare that I bred to him is a petite 15.3 and the baby is very big boned and super smart. (he is only 2 weeks old, so I can't tell you much more)
All of these stallions have big movement, not really hunter type movement though. If you post a pic I could probably help you out better. I will post a pic of my baby and mare.

Sorry, forgot to add the picture! It's pretty old and she was very unfit when this was taken, but it gives you an idea of her type.

Just the Best I wouldn't count on to add height and he is only 16'2" OP is asking for 16'3" plus....he is a wonderful stallion with hack winning movement though...same thing for Don Alfredo.
You are in BC so you can go see Westporte. He is big, nice neck and shoulder and wonderful movement.
Rio Grande his record speaks for it's self and his offspring are large.
Idocus hack winning movement and gorgeous necks....I prefer him to any of his sons.
If winning the hack isn't as important than this stallions should add size and a nicer neck:
Cunningham
Corlando
Sir Caletto
any stallion with Ramiro close up I am drawing a blank on any right now of course
Apiro
Popeye K...ah Voltaire X Ramiro
Nob Hill
I'll think of more....

Well Ironman was named top hunter breeding sire with the USEF for 2007, so that is kinda proven.
Others I would look at would be several from the BWP site as 95% of the blood there are H/J types.

Gatsby is another big guy. Magical is worth looking into as well (his foals seem to have lovely necks & shoulders), but I'm not sure how tall he usually sire's.
I really like Nob Hill, Cunningham, and Westporte for your girl. You can't go wrong with Rio Grande, and Just the Best would also be a great option if the height requirement wasn't so strict.

Now that I see her - I would stay with Rio Grande or Just The Best.. she is a lovely type and should have an awesome foal with either one..

I agree Nob Hill is fabulous. I believe he is 16.3, moves a 10+ and jumps a 10+. I have a yearling by him that has the best disposition you could ask for, and is very quiet. Nice LONG neck.

Rio Grande I think would be the best. He is big and has a good neck on him. Popeye K has a short neck in my opinion, so I wouldn't go with him.
All the Just the Bests I have seen have been small, but I am not sure how big the mares have been.

On the contrary. His get are larger than he is. I'm hoping Tish will pop on here and clarify.

Yep I have ridden two of them out of TB mares and both were at least 16.2 or 16.3

Instructor has a mare in-foal to him. I can't wait! :)

Thanks Virginia Bred and Equine LVR for confirming that Just The Best throws good size foals. Most of his foals mature at 16.2 and over. They have all the other attributes the OP is seeking. After looking at the photo of the mare, I think they would be a good cross. Just The Best will give her a stronger topline.

Just The Best is probably one of the most consistent stallions out there in my opinion. In that I mean... besides standing the test of time.... I personally haven't seen one of his offspring under 16.2 hands, and they truly succeed in many disciplines.
TQ sure knows her stuff! ;)

Yes if you want to add height Sir Caletto could be the right stallion. and the proportions on his foals are excellent. He has sired 15 inspection champions, which most hunter breedes may not care about but it is a good measuring stick as the warmblood registries look for freedom in the shoulders, elasticity and my favorite, great suspension...so yes they are very good movers and i certainly do care about the great hunter movement and do care about hack winners potentially from him...we are breeding for the regular working hunter level from him at Silverhorne.. But thank you for the acknowledgment...you can see tons of his babies on the website..and yes for those interested, he is producing really spectacular jump, which all hunters must do, right?

I've seen some of those Sir Caletto babies - and they seem to be consistently PRETTY, elegant babies! And doing quite well at the inspections.

I have a 2007 gelding by Hadrian that is wonderful. I swear he was born broke - you can do anything to him and he just puts up with it. He's a gorgeous mover, too. Hadrian's babies are doing very well in the Hunter/Jumper world (and hopefully mine will do well in Eventing - time will tell!). Here are his pictures: http://pets.webshots.com/album/558994593KTrmpA

In BC another stallion that comes to mind adding size and might make good hunters is Braveheart , and I don't know what he is producing but Von Burgraff is another stallion in our area that would be worth checking out.
Our own Raffaello stands in BC and fits the mentioned attributes adding height and type to his offspring, he is indeed a Ramiro grandson being by the same sire as Rio Grande. Lots of his offspring and his own hunter rounds are at http://www.hunterjumperstallions.com
