Do we already have a thread for this? I saw Laurierace's beautiful filly out of her mare Jess, and we just had a lovely little filly out of our Ide mare, Witherbee Hall this morning.

If it's okay, I'd love to see other foals of 2008 (future champions!).....

To start things off, here is our 2008 filly by Freefourinternet (Tabasco Cat) out of Witherbee Hall (Ide) born 2/22/08 at 2:30am (15 days overdue):

Here are 3 very short videos of little Lucy's first time out in the field (the first 3 items): http://s74.photobucket.com/albums/i245/wtryan/2008%20foals/

We're expecting 2 more this season.

Ah she is too cute. Many Congratulations!

I would like to keep the 2008 race foals thread going too. I have 2 race babies due. I know everyone prefers to keep this a racing board, but hey if they turn out to be little champs, they would have got their first look here!

Beautiful babies, and nice pictures! I'll be turning our filly out tomorrow for a bit (she's been kept in because of the contracted ankle, but it's getting much better already). I'll try to take better pictures and a short video. SHe's a cutie - not the elegant, impressive type, but we love her. Barn name is "Lucy".

Thanks for sharing, and keep them coming. Best of luck to all on foal watch! Fillies rule so far....

LaurieB - I'm in the same boat as you - 2 fillies so far (was hoping for colts) and one to go in 10 days. I am just hapy that both mares and foals are healthy, so not really complaining here :o)!

Here is the new arrival - a silver/black filly by Sarava out of Not a Nice Girl. She's HUGE for a first foal, and we did have to help her get her shoulders out, but mare and foal are doing great. She's very coordinated and elegant:

just born: http://s74.photobucket.com/albums/i245/wtryan/2008%20foals/?action=view&current=IMG_0793.jpg

Thanks guys! Yes Witherbee Hall (the dam of the Freeforinternet filly) is really cute. She's a nice mover when she's not snaking her head around lol. She's my husband's horse and has a forever home with us. She puts a lovely temperament on her foals and they've been super-correct until this one - hoping this one straightens up in front (it's early days yet, so she should get a lot better and has been improving). I love the markings on Witherbee's face - like a little cow. She stays in great shape and is the herd matriarch - they really miss her when she is not in the herd. She's a good leader and quietly dominant, as a matter of fact I thought that her BFF was the alpha mare, but boy was I wrong once we took Witherbee out of the herd. That mare was lost without her and I had to throw my gelding in to give those silly mares a leader. Witherbee came to us as a 2 year old from Kentucky with HOBBLES, calming supplements and a 12 page letter explaining that she needs to be hobbled at all times in the stall and had many other neurosese (sp?). She had a real reputation for being crazy and was a stall-walker, rearer, flipper etc supposedly. My husband tossed the hobbles and worked with her and she's a perfect angel - a nice, solid mare.

Turnout pictures of the day old Sarava filly (can you tell I'm happy with her?!): http://s74.photobucket.com/albums/i245/wtryan/2008%20foals/?albumview=slideshow

I have added pictures of Baby Damien on my Chronicle page, my address is below. I am on archaic dial up so it's a pain to do photo bucket and to do my own page. So I'm just going to add them on my Chronicle page which makes things nice and easy.

All the new arrivals are adorable, huge congrats to all! My boss' mare, Otra Vez (Rahy) delivered a cute colt by Best Of The Best's on March 16th. He is quite a talker when he sees the humans. :)

Not so great pictures as we have a ton of snow still and the indoor is the safest place for turnout.
We call him Ron.

Next is a clients mare who should go in the next couple of nights. This mare is National Hunt so her progeny are supposed to be chasers and hurdlers. I say supposed to because her 5yo first foal has just been retired due to lack of interest in the game. On the plus side, he is a fabulous mover and has a really nice jump so he's my summer project. She breeds really nice looking stock with a bit of quality but maybe not racers. She is in foal to Saddlers Halls. And then next week my National Hunt bred mare is expecting an Iroko baby so that will be a Dutch/TB cross.

My last foal for us will be out of our French Deputy mare. She's in foal to Antonius Pius, a son of Danzig. She's due April 25th.

Mar. 29, 2008, 10:14 PM
Thank you. It did suck to lose him that late. I had moved her up to PA to foal a few weeks before that and she looked great. When they called me she kept saying how sorry she was and I thought my mare died. Once I finally figured out she lost the foal but the mare was fine I was so relieved I didn't really have time to think about the foal.
Anyway, since she didn't have a foal by her side as planned I shipped her down to Ky and bred to Slew City Slew and got one of the nicest foals I have ever seen, so maybe its a blessing in disguise.

Well at the end of a really horrible crap week, I had a little good news for a change. My French Deputy mare, Stonor Lady, had a lovely colt foal by Antonius Pius. This was her second colt by AP. She went the same exact days, 334, and the same exact time of 11:30am, in the same place, the field. As I figured she was close I just kept checking on her. It was sunny and she rather likes having them outside. Plus all the nasty is kept out of the stable!

I will try and get some pictures up on MCOTH tomorrow.

Thanks! We love this old house too - even though it needs a lot of work. It's and old stone cottage with all hardwood floors and 11 foot ceilings.

Nice foals everyone. The Grand Slam filly and K-2s colt are so nice! I wish I could take better pictures of mine. We have our 3 babies out together now (the colt is my BIL's). They play and are fun to watch from my office window. The bay on is our Witherbee Hall (Ide) X Freeforinternet (Tabasco Cat) filly "Lucy Lui", the black filly is out of Not a Nice Girl (Flying Continental) by Sarava (Wild Again) and the flashy little black colt with chrome is out of Medieval's Halo (Halo) by Millenium Wind (?).
