That's too bad. He was a beautiful boy! I went and saw him a few years ago while we were in town for Rolex, and he was gorgeous! I couldn't believe he looked that well at his age.
My condolences to all at Mae's Way.

I went to see him last year. He looked amazing. This news is terrible. I am so glad now that I got to see him. He really looked fantastic right to the end. Mae must be devastated. She loved that ole boy.

Deepest sympathies to Mae and everyone at Mae's Way Farm. Last year we were lucky enough to purchase the fantastic broodmare, Silver Queen by Schonfeld directly from Mae. The mare has been such a treasure to us, and now she's all the more precious. In dealing with Mae, I was so struck not only by her affection for her grand old boy Schonfeld, but also by her kindness. A wonderful lady, and I'm so terribly sorry for her loss.

Oh so sad. The recent issue of the American Trakehner magazine has a great series of articles about our senior citizen stallions, including Schoenfeld, mostly written by their owners. I was struck by how much these horses have become a part of their family's lives. There was a great picture of Schoenfeld in the ATA booth at Equine Affair. Not in a stall by the booth, but actually IN the booth, with the brochures and tables, etc! People were so amazed to see him there greeting them.
