Help! I think that I probably should know who this is, but I really don't and a client has a mare by him. What does he typically throw? Breeding suggestions? Is he strictly a dressage producer?

Wonderful (former) stallion. Was the breeding director's favorite riding stallion at Celle.

He was a dual performer in his SPT (141 dress, 131 jumping)

FN breeding values are 123 dress/110 jumping. Hanoverian values are less...109 for dress/98 for jumping - but I think he was mostly used on a dressage base.

He was a good broodmare sire, unfortunately not that fertile. You see him in a surprising number of pedigrees of top dressage horses, considering.

I would LOVE to have a Sherlock Holmes mare.

He seems to have produced a lot of very modern progeny, the ones I have seen were dark bay/ black bay. Some had unreal hunter movement, huge step, pointy toes, but very little "knee".

He has an approved son standing in Canada, http://www.windsweptfarm.com/samsteele.htm

Sam Steele has a very interesting pedigree. He should produce a very elegant baby.

Wonder if that $2k stud fee is holding ...

This is one of the stallions that I really like: Shakespear in Love.

It is in german only but pictures tell, right ?
If you want to know more what it says, I could translate.

I own a mare by him out of a Bold Indian dam. She is about 16'3, very good mover, jumper. I still havent gotten to keep my own foal out of her, since she is always leased out, or the foals have sold by weaning. She is a very nice mare.
Here is a link to her original sales page.

Nice looking stallion. However, two thousand USD seems like a pricey stud fee for a stallion that is pretty and has an interesting pedigree, but no performance record, and no offspring old enough to be considered proven. Then I saw every stallion on that site is priced the same. This is where my mind starts to go to frozen, when I see the fresh stallions at this price. Anyone else think this way ?

Fire Fly Sam Steel offspring must be old enough to have done something. I remember I saw Sam Steel foals in Canada and my last trip there waas either 2000 or 2001.

Or do you talk about someone else ?

Alexandra, re read the website and you are right, there must be some older ones around.
I thought he was newer than that. I find him interesting, but have not heard of him or his get, but I am out west not east. Can anyone comment on his offspring ?

The mare that my client owns is an imported Sherlock Holmes/Weltmeyer.

She is smallish....maybe 16 even in shoes.

Stallion suggestions?
