Anyone have any offspring? What are their talents and temperments like? What were the mares like that you bred to him? Conception rates???

Are you asking about the Oldenburg Silvio I (Sandro/Gephard)?

If so, I am intersted to hear responses too, and to add an inquiry about his full sibling, Silvio II as well.

FWIW, there is another stallion named Silvio that stands on the east coast, I believe he may be oldenburg, but is a son of the original Silvio, and I dont think he has been presented anywhere. They are not one and the same.

Simply SM is a Silvio I offspring who stood at Spruce Meadows until just a couple of years ago. He had excellent results in his 100 d.t., and I saw him ridden and jumped when was at Spruce. Those who worked with his foals loved them, saying that they were athletic with lovely temperaments. I saw quite a few of them, and they were all tall and leggy. Here is a link to information: http://www.southlanefarm.com/otherhorses/Simply.htm He was sold, and I don't know if he is still breeding.

FWIW - We had a Silvio I out of our Contender/Wanderer mare. A very beautiful, black/brown filly -very smart and alert, interested in everything. While not a difficult horse to ride, she is sensitive and a little spooky to the fences. Not an ami horse at this point in her life, maybe when she's older. We did not do that cross again, as all three of those sires are on the sensitive, a little hotter side. If your damline is calm and quiet, I think Silvio would be a good cross.

Silvio I, I know about. Great movers, jumpers, sensitive. Mares seem to be more so than the geldings, BUT then I think of Shutterfly.
Frozen semen is ok to not great, according to my repro vet. Maybe people who have used it can chime in?
Good luck, I really love him. We sold some super nice Silvio-Calypso Hanno siblings to USA, the mare is doing GP now, the younger brother is becoming a big eq star.

Rachel Adams had a gorgeous filly last year by the Oldenburg Silvio who stands on the East Coast (I believe he is in VA). She was a chestnut with 4 whites and a blaze. She just recently sold her, I saw her at Upperville and really liked her.

This is not the same Silvio. I believe this is a son of the the Sandro son Silvio.

But, the foals I've seen have been nice, Rachel's included.

Chris Wynn has a TB mare that is bred to the Silvio stallion in Va.
I am foaling out the mare.... it is due the end of May. This is a mare that had never caught AI....she caught first time AI with east coast Silvio. They were very nice to deal with....it was a late breding kind of spur of the moment. They were very nice to deal with.
I am looking forward to this cross.....will post some pictures when she foals.

If you could, send me an e-mail. I have a flyer I could copy back to you. The stallion owner does not have a website and does very little marketing of the stallion; which is sad because the horse is unbelievable. Last year, he bred 41 mares and easily could double or triple that number with more exposure. Anyway, the SO is Tim Daily and his phone number is (540) 687-5685.

Hello Everyone!
Sorry to be late chiming in, but my computer time is very limited. I adore the Silvio blood! Our "best" mare, Marie Louise Keur Elite Preferent, is a direct Silvio 1 daughter that we imported from The Netherlands. She became Preferent this year, and has had Champion offspring in three countries (US, Holland, and England).....She can be see using the following link.....

http://www.sportingchancefarm.com/marie_louise___a_keur_elite_mare.htm

Silvio 1 is known in Europe as a "TYPE Producer"....Of course they jump well (look at Shutterfly etc!), but many mares are sent to him to improve type and conformation. He is a beautiful horse. There are three Silvio 1 offspring that I know of for sure in the USA....Our mare, the stallion Scimitar (owned by Ursula Farrier), and the "East Coast Silvio" in NJ. Both of these sons are beautiful horses, and seem to be the "whole package". We are enamored enough with the Silvio blood, to be adding more of it into our herd through the stallion Converter (Schockemohle's Contender X Silvio 1) son. Our Coriano daughter is in foal to him for this spring.
Although Silvio 1 is known as a "Jumper Sire", he is known to throw very good gaits...Our mare scored an 8.5 for walk, 7.3 trot(her lowest score), 7.5 for canter, and 8's for jumping at her 30 day Mare Test in HOlland. The Sandro line is VERY versatile, and in my opinion, very valuable. When you can get fantastic gaits, jumping ability and conformation, all in one horse, WOW! The Sandro's/Silvio's can be sensitive by nature....but in my experience, not difficult.
VDL Stud owns the full brother to Silvio 1, Silvio 2, who has produced some very good mares and sport horses as well.
There are photos of Silvio 1 and many of his decendants on my website....Feel free to email any other questions...
Warmly,
Karin

Thank you so much for your comments on my filly. Not only is she a beautiful baby with lots of chrome, her disposition is one-in-a-million. This is honestly the nicest baby we have ever had at our farm.

Her sire is the East Coast Silvio, the son of Silvio I. He was imported as a youngster and received a career-ending injury while in quarantine. However, he did win two consecutive years on the line at Devon. The horse is truly amazing and boy can his babies jump! One of my clients just bought a filly from the owner of Silvio and we've already been warned that she takes great joy in jumping the breeder's fences.
