Just wanting to find out what people's opinions are of Stacatto as well as his offspring. Does anyone have any offspring, or seen him or his offspring showing etc? What would you say they are best suited towards etc? Any info appreciated

THere have been several threads on here about Stalypso and Stakkato Gold - just do a search.. They seem best suited for the Jumper ring. Stalypso is a very, very nice stallion with lovely gaits.

Are you talking about the Idocus Staccato?

Are you talking about the Idocus Staccato?

I am thinking she is referring to the Staccato on here: www.SHNpayback.com Scroll down to the lower part of the stallion listings. A black with four whites.

I have a Staccato gelding from his first foal crop (coming 4 year old). He is a chestnut with stockings and narrow blaze. I was surprised how large he turned out (Staccato is 16.1 and so is my mare) I stopped measuring at 17 hands and I don't think he is finished yet. I know that Staccato's sire Idocus is listed as 16.3 but I have stood next to him at a show and I would guess that he is not even 16.2 (and I'm a pretty good judge of sizes). I never saw Staccato's dam but was told that she was a large, more old-fashioned type so that (along with my mare's sire Rampal being 17 hands) probably contributed to his size. Unfortunately my guy was born with a deformity in his neck (NOT Staccato's fault, NOT genetic, but considered to be a "positional deformity" where he got stuck in a weird position in utero during late pregnancy) so he has not been broke and is just my sweet, goofy, big pasture ornament. He has a body to die for - just beautifully put together and is leggy and elegant despite his size. His head is not so beautiful despite both Staccato and my mare having lovely heads. Nice face from the front but the profile is not as attractive. But Rampal is a grandparent and his head was, shall we say "distinguished" and I suspect that Staccato's dam's head is probably similar since she was described as "old-fashioned". (By the way, some of the nicest Staccato foals I've seen have been out of Arabs.) If your mare has a nice head and you know that both her parents also had good ones, I think this won't be a problem. Same for size - if you are looking for a big horse and your mare has some big genes, you will probably get a big horse. As far as movement goes, my guy has a big long sweeping canter and an okay but not spectacular trot (but his dam was similar in both departments so hard to tell if Staccato had much influence there) Hope this information helps you some.

Interesting auction site. Unless I'm reading it wrong or missing something, there is not one word about pedigree. Only name, level, breed. No pedigree, no owner, no other info. What am I missing?

For more info on Staccato you can go to his owner's website: www.terraceiafarm.com
BTW, the owners were very good to work with and are really nice people.

I think he is of very good type and produces well. I have only seem a couple of his offspring but what I have seen I liked. Stallion would be in my opinion considered modern and somewhat hot. On a good tempered mare, of good type, offspring should be fine.

I have known Stacatto for quite a while - he used to be trained at Pennock Point in Reddick, Fl, at a good friend's place. Stacatto completed his 100-day testing in 2002 (same event where my stallion, Lotus T was hurt) - and really had a terrible time comming back from it.

He is a very nice type stallion (won at Devon)......but unfortunately his problems stemming from the testing have limited his exposure.

You are missing it all:)

Click on the stallion's name for all his info, like it says at the top of the page.

I saw Stacatto at the stallion Expo in Raleigh and agree that he's a lovely type. I loved the way he went into the bridle and carried his front end-- no shortened neck here :)
