View Full Version : Hunter stallions showing at WEF....when to go spectate?

goodmorning

Does anyone know which stallions will be down at WEF showing this winter, and if so, which weeks? I was planning on making a trip, and would like to do some stallion shopping while down there. I know I'll have no issues finding Popeye down there ;), but I'd love to see some of the newer, less proven (in the ring) stallions. Thanks :)

I think VanGogh B is debuting in the hunter ring down there. I have a foal coming by him and would love to watch him go. Maybe Marieke will chime in :)

I think Van G will be in Ocala, not WEF. And maybe Black Tie will be at Ocala. Carbaradino should be at WEF? - one of the FL shows. Others? Maybe Furst Impression going to Ocala?

all I can think of at the moment....

Black Tie is doing Ocala & Furst Impression is staying in VA for the winter... I don't know who else is going to be where - sorry!

Well a trip over to Ocala would be worth it to see Van G and Black Tie. Does anyone know when exactly or what divisions they will be in? Just don't want to miss them in action when they are the reason I'm heading over there...

I think I'm going to shoot the owner's e-mails...will post the information when I get it.

I think Tie should be doing the Pre-Greens...

Marieke corrected her original post on that other thread stating VanGogh would be at WEF and not Ocala. DId it change again?

Popeye is not showing. His owner is spending some time keeping him at home and riding him herself before she decides if he will continue a career. There are a few popeye babies showing though.

VanGogh I thought was at WEF with the Bauersachs? Doesn't seem to be listed to show this week though.
Reflection will do the older a/o.
Krisproll One is in the first years. I don't know if it stands or not though.
Carbardino sometimes comes for a few weeks, but isn't usually here regularly.

I will look around and see if I see any more, although a lot of people aren't showing yet due to the upheaval of the grounds.

Beaulieu's Conquest and Beaulieu's Coolman will be at WEF both riden by Yann Candele. http://www.fermebeaulieufarm.com/home.htm

And I think Bratt Z will be there too riden by Eric Lamaze... http://www.angelfire.com/ca6/MatchmakerEquine/Brattz.html

Yak (Mandate) is showing in Ocala - mind you, he is fresh out of the jumper ring, so we will probably just do the Low Hunters week 1, then move up to the 3'6" Adequan Open Hunters week 2 (week 1 if he is good), and if he has decided that he isn't doing jumper turns any more:eek:, we could do the Regular Workings.

He is still anticipating the jumper turns, and if I happen to get jumped loose and shift my weight inadvertantly, well...

Even though he is to be gelded after this breeding season, I will have plenty of frozen.

Continue a breeding career or jumping career? I thought he was quite young to be retiring?

Are these three stallions doing hunters? I thought they were all jumpers...? No?

He will certainly continue a breeding career. He has won pretty much everything in the regular conformation though, proven himself, so it's somewhat pointless for him to keep campaigning. Same reason that Rox Dene retired at 10.
His owner is going to take some time off campaigning him, enjoy him herself for a bit, and then make some decisions.

That's nice Popeye's owner is giving him some time off - he has won everything. I wouldn't mind hacking Popeye around :D I will admit, I've only seen him go once and it was an absolute pleasure, he will be missed.

SM - Nice to see Yak in the hunter ring  Even if he will be adding some flare with those turns :)

-Tradition & Reflection are both hunter stallions that will be showing in the older A/O's as well.
-Black Tie should be showing in the pre-greens and might move up.
-Apiro is showing in the 2nd Yr & Working hunters in Gulfport.

That's all the info I have as of yet...

I had heard that he was injured and that was dictating some time off; but that his rider may decide to take over the ride on him. Hopefully if he is injured, he will recover soon!

Google (VanGogh) is at WEF. I will go down in the 1st week of March I think.

Last word is he is going great. I'm currently out of the country and on wireless laptop, so I'm keeping it short :D As far as I know he is going right on schedule and things are just wobbling a long.

I'm not sure what they will decide he should show in. This will be his first showing experience and I'm confident that the B's will make the right decisions for him. And Jennifer and him have been a team for just mere weeks, so I'm sure they will have to figure a few things out. She knows what she is doing and he is most willing and smart (perhaps a bit too :)). I know that had to work on the canter, as he has only one gear in that one, and it was actually too slow........ LOL Anybody who knows the book 'slowly slowly slowly said the sloth' will have a clue what I mean.

Popeye is not injured. His owner is riding him daily to get to know him and figure out where she wants to go with him from here.

I can't imagine what Popeye K still has to prove, and why anyone would think it odd that the owner wants to retire him, or ride him herself, rather than hemmorage 10's of thousands more to keep him on the circuit.

LOL!! what makes it worse is that the hemmorage you speak of is more like 100's !

I didn't mean to start a problem! I just assumed that was true as I heard it from a friend in Florida who is good friends with Tommy. It seemed to make sense since he wasn't showing.

I agree that he is a fantastic horse and has nothing left to prove. I'd probably retire him in a heartbeat!

Is this stallion approved and licensed to breed with any breed associations?

I don't know much about him, just saw Rob schooling a stallion on warmup day, and did a bit of searching to figure out which stallion it was, since I promised to keep an eye out ;). It appears to be Bavarian, but I don't know where to look to see if it's licensed. Very cute horse though.

He sure looks nice on his website. :)
I keep checking to see if/when VanGogh B is scheduled to debut as well.

I heard Lotus T will be in the regular working hunters.
I was thinking of taking a drive to wellington this year to see some of the boys going there instead of hits
