2 of us are wanting to go to holland soon to buy 4th level/Psg horses. Can anyone give me feedback on the following horse "finders"? PM if appropriate
1) Judy de Winter
2) Simone of HP stables
3) Annemiek Raaijmakers
Or if you have any other ideas - please let me know. We want to be able to see 6-10 horses in our age/size/training and price range. Tips for honest people who don't go crazy on the comissions would be appreciated!
Please no recommendations for USA based sales agents - we already have that info.
Thanks!

If you want to deal with someone you can trust completely and who I have the greatest respect for, you just can not go pass Lisa Maas Mombers .
She helped me purchase my mare Wienna and is looking after her for me, until I can bring her home to Australia after she has had her foal.
She is a geniune, helpfull, honest lady. I can not recomend her highly enough.

I like Alex Sueters. Does anyone have any opinions on him? He sells both dressage and jumper horses. His daughter is a dressage rider. His website is sueters stables if you google it. I have purchased 3 very nice horses from him and he is always very friendly and easy to work with. He is not far outside of Amsterdam I don't think.

I did NOT have a good experience with Simone at HP Stables. You can PM me if you want more info. Cannot speak for the others.
With the dollar as bad as it is right now, I'd stay in the US. I know of a couple of people advertising their PSG horses for sale and they're not getting very many responses from their ads. I think some real bargains could be made on this side of the pond...

Thanks for the feedback on HP Stables.
We have looked at/gotten video on just about every PSG horse in the US advertised on Dressage Daily, Dreamhorse and Warmbloods For Sale - and none of them are a fit for what we are looking for. If you have some other online places to look - please let me know!

We've worked with several Dutch agents and all wonderful but none showed us anything of significance. Just across the boarder (1 hr. 45 mins or less) is a wonderful gentleman by the name of Clemens Merveldt. He is a wonderful, honest man and takes great care of his horses. I bought a 3 year old stallion from him in 2004 and trained with him briefly. His contact information is:

Hello,
I have some great contacts in Holland and Germany. I am going over Jan 24-29. We go to the Hano auction then off to private farms.
Let me know what you are looking for and I can search for it or you can come along with us for the trip. I go over 2-3 times per year.

Thanks Horsegirltv and Wolf.
We are not looking for young horses -but for made FEI level horses - competitive ones for the USA. I already have 2 hanoverian auction horses and know that scene pretty well as I buy there several times a year myself.
Beth - I will contact you!

I am actually going over for the stallion show Jan 26 - Feb 3rd with a group, but for sure contact VDL and tell them the price and what you want to see. They can help you with finding some in the northern part of Holland and have a lot of contacts. They don't go nuts on commission and wonderful service. If they can't find it, they will tell you that too. Their service is tops too. Email janko@vdlstud.com
Have a good trip and let us all know how you make out.

I would very, very highly recommend Toine Hoefs of Connelly-Hoefs Horse Search. He finds fantastic horses, is truly honest, and is a pleasure to work with. He has a deservedly excellent reputation. I bought a six year old from him last winter and wouldn't shop through anyone else.

Try Willie de Leyer. He is from Holland and goes over 1 or 2 times a year on buying trips. He woulkd at the very least be a start to connecting you with the right people even if you did not go directly through him.

I third Kathy/Toine - I think you can get PSG level horses for around 50K
Also, Nancy Later has a few in this country - I have two nice ones in my barn
from her
I used Norbert Geiling/Hans Bernovski but that was ten years ago.
At that time, I looked at over 40 horses at 3rd-GP for under 50K(most around
35K) - what a tiring two weeks that was. I actually had 3 horses that were
all suitable and equally vetable should the fabulous Fabian not vet.
Granted the dollar was pretty strong against the euro(then, guilder)
My eyes practically fell out of my head when I was quoted 80 or 90 thousand
guilders until I did the math and found it was only  40-45k dollars.
(Fabian's middle name is cash advance)
-Which ties in well with the 'would you go into debt for a horse' thread.

I've dealt with Suzanne Hudson and she was lovely. The horse we liked was already in the US; she does have contacts in Europe as well.

Not what I found, I was in a much lower category.
I was shown lots and lots, all top quality. PM me if you like, as I found both great young horses and trained horses.

I have purchased several horses with Dirk Fiechter. His daughters are exceptional riders and trainers and he actually buys most of the horses he sells. Thus, they are sound and sane and re-sellable or he would not purchase them. He also has contacts across Holland and Belgium. I have found the horses of my dreams through him.
I would not use Judy- ever.

I'm out of the country and on a wireless laptop, but email me and I can give you some information on horses in the Netherlands, prices for a good PSG gelding are out of the roof at the moment, it is ridiculous! Anything that is sane and sound costs a fortune! But if you look hard you can find what you want :D

I can give you the name of a normal guy who has a great eye for a horse. He sold me my Friesian in 1998, whose sire was Erik 351, which was before Erik was imported by Iron Spring. He will look in any price range. My barn owner was looking for a horse and I gave her his name. The horse he found for her was purchased by Anky.
