I don't know, it says it's being launched by USEF not just associated with it. Perhaps they're hoping to become MySpace for horsemen?

I filled out the form, and never once was I asked for any kind of payment. It seems like they're compiling some sort of database and/or book, by geography and/or discipline, of professionals, which could be really useful.

I filled out the info, too. (I believe the email only went to members listed as professionals.) No fee required.
There's another thread about it on h/j... many are wondering where the money is coming from to support this project... ?

To those wondering about USEF's new Equestrian Directory,
The USEF is indeed creating a comprehensive Equestrian Directory with a variety of categories so that people can find a related professional, whether in their area of the country, or elsewhere. This is an ongoing process, and we are still collecting entries with our online form at http://www.usef.org/prodir/default.aspx. The directory is free. We will not be selling the information.
If anyone wishes to contact USEF for further information about the directory or have further questions, please call 859-258-2472.
Sincerely,
Sarah L. Evers

No, this is definitely something done by USEF, not by outsiders, and it is legit. They've been working on it for over a year now. They had a demo of it at the Annual Meeting and Kathy Meyer did a presentation at the board meeting. I've been a test member for awhile (though frankly I kind of forgot about it and haven't visited in awhile). It is being supported by advertising, as I understand it. :)

Please notice that I wrote the original post January 4 of this year.
Please notice that the response which re-opened the thread is dated July 28 of this year.
This is the kind of turn-around time that would get everyone thrown out of their jobs in Holland!
OTOH, it serves a a true-life illustration of our NF ands its grasp on reality.

Did you email USEF or do you actually expect them to sit on this board just in case someone has a question for them? (SIGH) They would probably lose their jobs if they did..LOL
