The horse looks to have the pink skin of a max sabino and the fairly even white coloration of a max sabino.

Interesting the sire is a gray and the dam is the white TB in the pedigree. First time I think, I've seen a white with a gray parent. Cool Filly! :winkgrin: And what a race to come form behind like that and blow the doors off of the whole pack in the end. :D

Ohh - well done ! I was trying desperately to make out something that sounded like a name! The picture is much better than the video clip in terms of making out the color - she looks definately like a Maximum Sabino rather than a grey

Oh and I would not recognize any silks even if they waved in front of my eyes for hours

Well maybe I am stupid but I didn't think the OP was snarky. It can't turn into a fight if you don't respond to it as though it was picking a fight. I have been so impressed with the general attitude of the boards in the last week. Good and heated discussion without getting too out of control.

Let's see if we can discuss color without quite as many emotions. The whites in the racing industry have been there with several examples already. Not a brand new thing. I honestly don't personally know of ANY color breeder that does not want their stock to be high quality--some breeders just may be more knowledgeable than others.

Tell me about the sire--I am not as knowledgeable about some of the pedigrees as I should be. Don't see that pedigree in the database.

I don't think many TBs continue their racing careers to the point where their coats would have "greyed out" to 100% white. Eight, ten years old or more? And she would have had to be bald-faced (not common in TBs) to not have dark around the eyes/muzzle.

If you look at the pedigree, the mare's dam is a maximally expressed sabino too. There are two good pictures of the dam if you follow the links.

Well, when the post is "for you color crowd" and then it's worded like "look a colored horse that actually does something and was bred to do something other than be pretty" and "his color was an accident" than I read some snark into it. I also like the atmosphere on the boards lately and that is why I mentioned how the post came across to me.

I went back and reread--yes I could see the snark, but honestly if a non color breeder wants to point out that a horse can be "colored" and be "successful" then honestly that person is pointing out what we have said all along! :lol:

Racing in most countries is bi-directional, sometimes both directions in the one race. Of major racing nations only the US and Canada are uni-directional.

Thanks for sharing the link - beautiful filly and fun race to watch. Sure would make it easy to spot your horse in the race when she's THAT white! We've had a few grays that were almost white, and some of them have run in the Gray Ghost in NJ - fun!

Japanese racing is just too early in the morning for me to follow ;) but I should have remembered the l'Arc de Triomphe.

I can think of two greys that are nearly white now and still running:

The filly COULD also be grey, her body is essentially all one white marking so if she is grey it is hidden and they will only know if she produces a grey foal to a none grey sire. 50/50 chance of grey/non grey.

Apparently a white foal is not the huge deal in Japan as it is here as there are quite a few of them! Not all this line either.

Just an aside: a young greyed out TB shows up every once in a while. Snow Magic still has a dark mane but she is quite light for a grey 2yo:
