I was just wondering if anyone out there had a great show picture they wanted to share- or a cute one from home! I know there have been threads on this before, but I thought we could use a new one.

So post your favorite picture of you and your horse in action!

Here's mine, taken in stadium at Poplar this month (he's really new so I don't have that many; this is my favorite so far):

Also sorry it's so blurry- I don't have a scanner so I had to sort of take a picture of the picture!

Also wanted to add a cool XC one; I didn't buy it so I'm going to try to link to the photographer's website. Never had a good water picture before!

Sorry if it doesn't work!

High, I am new here and new to this type of riding so I don't have any pictures of me riding my horse, but I do have a picture I like of me showing my colt at halter last year. He was a yearling. Anyhow hope you don't mind if I share in this fun thread:

Nov. 22, 2007, 10:12 AM
Has to be this one.
It was taken at our last XC schooling before Bailey's retirement in '05. The approach to this jump was really ugly, downhill and he was on a cross canter. At the last moment, he straightened out and locked in on the fence. I just put on leg and closed my eyes. Sometimes you have to trust your horse. There's a few other good ones from that day in the album.

oh I'm all over this ;) I love sharing pics (as we all know ;)) But everyone has seen my favourite competition pics so I'm going to post something different.

Nov. 22, 2007, 10:15 AM
this picture was taken many moons ago (10 years to be exact) at the Virginia H.T. It was our last event of the season, and I had an awesome XC round. The photo is a sequence of a 1/2 coffin (ditch to brushy vertical). When I look at the photo, I can still remember how 'locked on' he was the whole way around the course.

Nov. 22, 2007, 10:18 AM
OMG, Jazzy, those are BEAUTIFUL. Thanks for sharing. Wow. You can tell you and your horse have a real bond. He seems very regal/proud.

woops, I went back and changed it. I couldn't remember if he was a she ...

Nov. 22, 2007, 10:26 AM
Wow, ditto, Jazzy Lady. Those are just gorgeous!!!

My horse is pretty photogenic, but I love this one the most because of what it "means" for me --
At our first prelim, at our home barn, taken by a good friend (pharmgirl). I know standing within 20 yards of her at the time were my coaches, husband, and horsey friends, cheering their heads off. My dressage refugee has "got it" and it shows.

Nov. 22, 2007, 10:58 AM

I like these a lot. They are from our last prelim (of the year) and our first clear XC at Prelim, as well as our first double clear SJ at Prelim.

After our abysmal dressage at this competition, I toyed with the idea of not jumping at all. I was glad we did. Reminded me of what it's all about when it all comes together.

Nov. 22, 2007, 11:27 AM
Joy and I are a relatively new partnership... and he has quickly become the love of my life! Here are two pictures from the summer. The little tiny fence was our first xc fence together at home, I think he just looks so cute!!

Getting ready for xc at the Nick Larkin clinic this past September - my boy is sooooooo handsome!:

And this is my now happily retired mare Lacey - back in 1999 when we were at the top of our game. This was taken at my one trip to Spruce Meadows!! :) So proud:

I really enjoyed looking at everyones pics! Jazzy Lady, your horse cracks me up!! The flower picture is priceless!!!!

Nov. 22, 2007, 11:31 AM
This is from my Ludwigs first training level.. His 2nd ever horse trial. He was backing off so I gave him a little encouragement and he took it as time to fly..

And this is my Harleigh.. He's just handsome.

Nov. 22, 2007, 11:38 AM
I made a collage of all of my favorite pictues from this season :D

Nov. 22, 2007, 11:41 AM
I have a couple of favorites of my irish draught gelding.

our first driving trial:

our first novice event:

just having fun:

Nov. 22, 2007, 12:45 PM
This is from my first recognized event ever. We competed at BN. I ordered this pic: http://www.digiproofs.com/ecom/product_select.pl?select=11144482&p=EDc5DIn.

He is my first horse (just got him 7 mos ago), and we worked hard all summer so we could do our first events together!

Nov. 22, 2007, 01:08 PM
Well, I don't really have a favorite picture, so I'm going to post a few on here. I know that in some of them we don't look perfect, but I like them because he was just so good and responsive and brave (even though it's just BN:D) Most of these were at "May-Daze" this year.

Probably the closest to my favorite:
Water (His "extension" is pretty cool):):
Not really the prettiest, but I still like it anyway for some reason.
And this one is special because it was our first horse trial together, and he was soooo much better than I could have ever asked him to be.

Sorry, that's a lot:lol: I just don't have one absolutely favorite pic.

Nov. 22, 2007, 01:38 PM
Cutest picture ever

Jumpers... please ignore my horrible leg. I just like the action shots :)

Nov. 22, 2007, 02:21 PM
Well, this isn't the most wonderful pic, but it was my last xc trip with Buddy and I love how he looks like he dosen't have a care in the world.

My favorite's on my profile. That's my NZ ISH Clancy in 2005. He's currently on the mend from bruising his withers. I loff him.

Nov. 22, 2007, 03:18 PM
Here is my favorite picture...

It was an excellent shot from flatlandsphoto.com at my mare's first novice. She was a little impressed by that fence  I have big dreams for this mare!

Nov. 22, 2007, 08:19 PM
I have to CHOOSE?

What's funny are that most of my favorites have nothing to do with eventing, even though that's our primary focus; I seem to be cursed with not getting good pics taken at events!

Jumping, though, this one is my favorite of Jude even though it's fuzzy. It's a winter schooling jumper show where we demonstrated why cross-training for gymkhana can be beneficial for jump-offs. :D

But my two favorites (of Jude) ever are these (I got the second one printed in b&w, which I like even better than the color):

Tari's younger and so I don't have as many (or the same variety!) to choose from, but these are probably my current faves of her:

(Second dressage test (in competition) ever...)

(And just for the cute factor...)

Nov. 22, 2007, 08:47 PM
Ooh what about videos??? Anyone have any they'd like/are able to share??

This one is of me and my ex-partner (my Liam!) on cross country at Rocking Horse in February 2006. I've been watching it a lot because I've been missing him, and it's one of the only videos I've ever bought.

Sorry about all the floppiness- yes I know my toes are turned out ridiculously, and I'm bouncing around a lot, and that unfortunate incident at the water (!) but I had fun and so did he, as you can probably tell.

I'd love to see any videos anyone else would like to share. And of course keep posting the pictures- they're all so great!

Nov. 22, 2007, 09:07 PM
this was my boys first horse trial.
he thought it was going to eat him

I like this one, just taken last weekend at the beach:

And from an event, I like this one, because I love the trot lengthening...now we just need to be able to duplicate it in a a dressage arena! :)

Nov. 22, 2007, 10:21 PM
I love this one! Its of me and my mare going N at Maryland HTs

Nov. 23, 2007, 06:47 AM
This is one of my favorites. My husband takes great photos and tries to be a little artsy with his shots. This one looks like he was hiding in the bushes - but really he wasn't.

Nov. 23, 2007, 08:45 AM
This is one of my fav pics of my late horse.. We went XC schooling last summer

Here is my new boy... 3 years old- on our first xc school... he would much rather stand and let the wind hit him in the face than run around lol... silly horse!

cute face

Nov. 23, 2007, 09:03 AM
Well, I don't have any pictures of me on my new guy yet (in my defense, it hasn't been two full months yet). But, I can share a couple of him enjoying a show with mythical84 on board:

I won't subject you guys to the landing pictures, where he seems to enjoy sticking his (if that's what you would call it) tail straight up in the air- I call it his flagpole!!

Nov. 23, 2007, 04:10 PM
how do i post pics>?

Nov. 23, 2007, 05:08 PM
I love to show off my kid and her horse too. Here is my current favourite show picture. It's from the CCI* at Wits End this year.

And this is my all time favourite of my kid and her first horse. Unfortunately it's scanned so it's a big grainy here, but it looks great on my wall.

Nov. 23, 2007, 06:35 PM
oh I'm all over this ;) I love sharing pics (as we all know ;)) But everyone has seen my favourite competition pics so I'm going to post something different.

OH! I didn't realize this was YOU! I have seen a few of your pics from your photog on Equine Photographers Network... Lovely photos! And I LOVE the one where you horse is trying to eat the flowers!!! :D

Nov. 23, 2007, 07:40 PM

Oh my... if you look at the pic I posted of my horse and I doing stadium, on the head on shot of us landing, you can see something sticking up behind my head, it looks like a fountain, but it's his tail. Strangely, he always does that on stadium, not so much on XC

I have so many favorites. One of my all time favorites that just really makes me feel proud is this one picture of my old leased pony (Junior) and I at a Ralph Hill clinic jumping the Training ditch (I had jumped a ditch ONCE before...a natural one). After that clinic Ralph dubbed him "The Ditch Machine." We did so many Training jumps at that clinic. That is when things started to click for me about cross country.

I have other riding pictures I love, but here are a few that were on my computer.

Aww, and his crazy sparkly bridle :) that's a great picture!

oh my gosh, thats priceless!!! I agree, your other pics are breathtaking :)

Nov. 23, 2007, 09:02 PM
Oh and I want to explain why some of them are special,

It was SO hot, and I had just had a not so great stadium round with then very new (to me) Sonny. I was very tired and the thought of the BN Championship course wasn't looking as fun anymore. I got on and immediately felt better. It is such a great, relieving feeling knowing that the horse underneath you will take care of you. Oh and the pompom is great to me. Other people may find it ridiculous but whatever...you only live once. Karen and Bruce liked it!

His dressage is sooooo good. My first horse who really knew what he was doing.

I think the first time I braided at a show.

I *worked my butt off* to get him looking like that!

Nov. 23, 2007, 09:15 PM
Here's my retired boy. He's 18 now and I got him off the track as a 3 yo. He is officially the most spoiled horse in the world.

Nov. 23, 2007, 10:59 PM
Here are my favorite ones....

My retired upper level mare....

My paint horse who I took through prelim...he is semi-retired now but I am hoping to do some jumper stuff on him sometime soon.

And this is my horse EP doing the jumpers at HITS, he is a connemara/TB cross and son of Erin Go Braugh yet he stands at 17 hands...(lol...I don't know how he is crossed with a pony).

Nov. 24, 2007, 02:32 AM
awww, such GREAT PICS!!! and..pharmgirl... hee hee. fleck does that too!! it's so embarassing!!! he likes to flag it over his butt like an arab....minus the long flowyness part....ugh...

so i have a few... but feel free to check out ALL of them here
and my videos are here...

this is one of my new faves... it was just after our XC run at the AEC's...we did it! even the scary drop.....at 500 mpm instead of 400. but that's okay. i was just so proud of him!
and this one... .just cause this is totally his personality
my old girl who is now retired
this one i like cause of the reflection

but... i think for right now, this is my fave
with this one close behind
and this might be another one.... as well as some of the other photos...that i'm hoping to get for xmas!

okay...sorry... i can't help it! i LOVE my spots!
okay... the roany pony deserves atleast one more....

kay... i'm done...really!

Nov. 24, 2007, 12:33 PM
And here's a picture of my new horse! :D Who I don't even have yet. I'm still trying to get him from the other end of the country.

Nov. 24, 2007, 12:35 PM
I want a horse like Fleck! He is such an awesome looking horse! I bet he really catches peoples attention at shows!

Nov. 24, 2007, 12:41 PM
hee hee. he does, but sometimes that's not always good.... like at the area 3 champs when we were grazing and a horsefly stung him and he got away from me and went galloping around the place.....
no...that wasn't fleck....really..... there's like 12 appies that look just like him...fleck was behaving sitting right here. i swear!!!

everyone has such pretty horses!! and such great photos!

Nov. 24, 2007, 02:08 PM
This is going to be a tough one..I would have to say I have quite a few..

First outing after he was out with an abcess

I just love his hooves in this one, lol.

At our first 1* (which we won so that made it even better - only combination to finish on our dressage score in the class :D )

Our first intermediate together

I love this one..she just flew in without even looking

Our first event together

Chevy - only had her for a month so not many photos :(
Love this one, she just looks too cute for her own good.

Here are mine--

Guinness, my aloof/challenging/passive-aggressive horse, who's talented, but who hurt himself really badly this fall right before Greenwood:

My former horse, Paycheck, who's now my main horse again since G hurt himself:

And the horse I've fallen in love with, who sat in someone's field for some time and has the sweetest disposition ever:

The last two don't have great jumpining pictures...yet.... :-)

Great thread!

My first favorite is courtesy of nowoncourse:

And the second is my daughter:

Nov. 24, 2007, 08:11 PM
Some truly awesome pictures here!

Here's my fav:

I mean, we're jumping a boat! How awesome is that? ;^) (okay, it's a small boat...)

I no longer have this wonderful boy, but I remember this show because I was flat-out terrified about some of these jumps on the Novice course - it was our first time at Novice, and Miles just sailed (no pun intended!) over everything, even those where I had my eyes shut and had double handfuls of mane! This was also his last event before he was diagnosed with flatweed poisoning, so this picture is that much more special to me (he took 1st at that show).

Nov. 24, 2007, 09:36 PM
My favorite is in my profile, at the same show as eventer_mi ;) This was my (and the horse's) very first event EVER. It cemented my transformation to the dark side. The picture was later in Eventing magazine. My transformation is now complete, I am a Beer-swigging Eventer!

Nov. 24, 2007, 10:12 PM
...and now for something totally different in the 'off season'.

This is today at Gettysburg National Battlefield. Everything was going great until the cannons went off...ummm....no, it was opening day of hunting season. The 'boys' belted down the top of Round Hill at the sound of every gun shot.

My hubby refuses to ride his 'husband' horse and is madly in love with my boy. So meanwhile the 3 year old is getting quite the education with a little help from 'Mom'. ...guns, statues, camera waving Japanese tourists, boy scout troops - he' going to be a 'star' eventer.

But here's the really fun stuff - :D:D:D!!!

Here are some of my Favs...

Spanky aka Jus Passed My Zipper

Harry aka Share The Air

And one of my old pony, Hollywood aka Hollywood Princess.......

I don't have a good action shot of Hollywood on the computer right now. She could jump if she was in the mood. But she was best at the all-around in the Paint shows.

Nov. 25, 2007, 08:33 AM
Your boy is gorgeous!
I have never heard of flatweed poisoning, what is that?

Nov. 25, 2007, 11:47 AM
polarbear - thank you! That is Miles, aka Miles to Go, an 8 yr old Percheron x Morgan gelding. He is now showing the ropes to a 12 yr old girl and they're on their way to a Bronze medal in dressage. He started off life pulling wedding carriages on the streets of Grand Rapids, MI, which is where I found him ;^).

Flatweed poisoning is also called Australian Stringhalt, and the symptoms are similar to EPM and regular stringhalt. They get it from ingesting a plant called flatweed, aka catsear, aka false dandelion. We have it in obscene amounts in the south east US - it looks like a regular dandelion, with the same flowering head, but it grows on a tall, stiff stalk that branches out in multiple heads, and the leaves are radial and flat (thus its name). It also grows in sandy soil, which is why we have so much of it here in the Sandhills. It's basically neurological, like EPM, which is why it's so devastasting because it kills nerves. If you don't catch it soon enough, they will have to be put down, and they don't always have a full recovery. The only way to treat it is to pull them off the affected pastures and then wait and see if they recover.

I was lucky - we caught it fairly early, and Miles had a full year off, and then I brought him back into work and then sold him to his new family. Scary, though, and I'm a raving lunatic when it comes to people allowing their horses to graze on the weed around here at shows.

Nov. 25, 2007, 11:57 AM

its the 2nd table in a combo at Wayne, and I do have the 3 pics before it, too. Just this one, while nothing that anyone should comment on EQ or talent with, I love. He is flying, ear cocked back at me, we have about 5 more fences in the most amazing XC round ever.... the ones before are all about balance, and this one is about flying.

My CP has a collage of pics of him, too.

(Note to self- do NOT do a CCI in a saddle you just got...does nothing for your position!)

Nov. 25, 2007, 01:54 PM
Everyones pictures are awesome!

Here are some of my favorites. The first three are of me and my mare Natalie and the last one is my green horse Manny.

Nov. 25, 2007, 02:39 PM
I love the first one because we have the same look on our faces!! These were taken at Pine Top just a few months before he died

Here's a couple of my new baby. I've been so lucky with him!!

http://hoofclix.smugmug.com/gallery/3343107#189675954 I love this one because of the blue ridge mountains in the background!!! His braids are still in because my dressage and xc ride times were about 35 minutes apart...

Nov. 25, 2007, 03:14 PM
This one is still my all time favorite...the jump itself was one of those moments where everything that has ever been drilled into your head finally came together at exactly the right time (I saw this distance from a mile out and rode to it perfectly...and Ralph jumped SO well)...I was beside myself when I found out they actually had a camera at the fence (thanks GRC). http://pets.webshots.com/photo/1538176540084009341UtjNor?vhost=pets

Nov. 25, 2007, 03:24 PM
Me and my 18 yr old green mare at our 2nd H.T. at BN we took 1st place with a 30.0. Such a good girl we both started jumping just a year ago.
And you gotta love a roached mane!

Nov. 25, 2007, 03:52 PM
Thanks Eventer Mi. That was a new one for me. I'm glad Miles was able to return to a job.

I'm really impressed with all the talent on this board!

Nov. 25, 2007, 04:49 PM
Great pics everyone! Thanks for sharing.

Fleck- funny your guy does the same, although he has a tail so it's not quite so ridiculous (I think it's quite a nice tail, esp. for an appy). He is so cool looking. My lease before the giant appy also would flip his tail up and sometimes over his rump- he was full TB but sometimes we wondered if he was part Arab (or at least wanted to be)!

My most favorite picture from Rolex this year.
lol. oops!

and this is my favorite picture of myself and Boomer. It was from his first out at Prelim - my first out at Prelim.
I was really really scared!
And I love how he looks like one of those football players...you know, they look stupid cause their neck is as big as their head? LMAO.

and these two are our inspiration. : )

purplenurple: HA HA!! that was awesome.... love that pic!! it almost looks planned ;)

pharmgirl: yeah...fleck does that when he's running around all hyped up. flips it over his back. REALLY SEXY!! yeah! ;)

such awesome pics! makes me really wish it wasn't RAINING!! but... not really, cause we really really need the rain :)

check out the elastic band helmet strap and lack of saddle pad.
a dated photo but still my fave.
it was the last fence on the course.

My retired mare in her heyday:
• On our way to a 2nd place finish in our large Novice division at MTPC (1997).
• My mom took this pic of us getting ready for x-c. I've always loved it because both my mare and I are truly in our element, putting on our game faces for what is ahead.

My gelding that I currently compete:
• Warming up for stadium at River Glen.
• After winning our division and the high point award at a big CT. I think he's pretty darn cute here!

My 3.5 year old, out of my retired Appy mare above:
• At six days old. Think she wants to event?
• In training several weeks ago, her first time ground driving in the big arena.
• This photo, also from a few weeks ago, epitomizes her sweet attitude and soft expression.
