Trivia question - hunt scene in "Marnie"

Can anyone tell me of at least two errors in the hunt scene in the Hitchcock movie, "Marnie"?

Wow, I just saw that on T.V the other day.

I don't know that I can correctly answer your question but I have to say that I loved the part where she kicked off her shoes, hoped up on Forio (spelling ?) bareback in hose and a dress and took off at a gallop over a good size fence!

Good lord, I've not seen that film in decades..... But wasn't that the one where Tippi Hedron was charging round with long flowing loose hair and no riding hat? tch tch. And she shoots her horse when it falls??? Oh I say, that must be bad form :winkgrin:

I seem to remember that she might have been wearing all white? all red? all black?? too????

I've a strong feeling that you're going to tell me its been re-released starring Madonna and the version I remember is long forgotten!!

I love to see horse/riding errors,rats!
It does my wife's head in that we watch the likes of period dramas and I spend all the time trying to see who's driving (if its not me) and what sort of equipage.

And the memorable "mistakes" one for me was Black Beauty who was at least 3 different horses and even had a gender change part way through! :eek:

Braveheart was also an "interesting" one. Mel Gibson who played William Wallace marched from York to Flodden in that in less time than it takes me to drive it in my flashy car!!! We actually had some native breed ponies in that film for the bits that were filmed at Selkirk... though most of it was actually filmed in Ireland!!

Not generally, unless of course the horse is at the end of its life and about to be fed to hounds.

Although I must confess I've been tempted more than once- the backup 'emergency brake.':cool: Happily the main 'emergency brake' (a convenient tree at which to point the horse) was available.

Don't know about the errors, but it was filmed in Unionville, PA. Susan Cocks was the stunt rider, and a lot of the Cheshire regulars are in the hunting scenes, including my mother.

Wow - that's a nice piece of trivia. I did enjoy the hunt scene in that movie.

I would also like to point out that the scene showing Tipi Hedron attempting a pulley rein is also incorrect. At least - I think she was attempting a pulley rein -she was wiggling the reins as the horse bolted.

Oh - another error was when she's being run off with and they have the scenery rolling past her. The scenery stopped (guess the reel got stuck or something) - but the horse kept running.

Unfortunately, I did not see the ending of the movie. Stupid TiVo.

Wow. I haven't seen that movie in years! But I do remember thinking "err, Tippi, that's no way to do a pulley rein--and, you could try to turn ya' know."

When her horse fell, didn't she go bang on the door of a house demanding a gun? Yeah. That would freak me right out--some crazy lady banging on my door screaming "I need a GUN!" Then came the next line: "No Marnie, let me go get one of the men." Only men can shoot a horse?

The horse fell? Didn't she try to effectively take almost a puissance wall with her mount and his legs didn't clear it? At least Sean Connery proved he could ride.

Alas the pic could've been much stronger in its storyline thoughtout - I have it on VHS - it was at the start but then just went flat. The creepy little girl who befriended her mother was just odd. It was simply no Rebecca let alone The Birds, North by Northwest, Vertigo or his brilliant Rear Window.

A point of trivia: Grace Kelly originally accepted the lead role played by Tippi as she liked Hitchcock and more importantly was under MGM contract to act in two more films. However Prince Rainier didn't approve and she was allowed to withdraw before the movie production started.

And Middleburg, VA hence the featuring of the Red Fox Inn where she stays. It always made more sense she'd ride in Unionville or at least somehwhere on the Main Line as her monther lived in Philly by the warf, no?

Useless trivia: the band, The Violets, named a song "Foreo" in reference to Marnie's horse (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mGdHZZ9L41Y); the song isn't worth the time to listen to it ;)

Yep, and she even gets a lift to the stable yard in the Studebaker with "The Red Fox Inn" on the side from the Inn.

This was one of my favorite Hithcock movies. Probably, because of Forio and the hunt scene.

I was pretty wowed when she jumped on Forio in her fancy dress and galloped off. Hey, I was a kid. :winkgrin:

Later,when I was in high school, we had a film class and had to do a paper on film symbolism in a Hitchcock film. I chose Marnie.

Boy, was Sister Judith :o :eek: :mad: when I gave my oral report on the different (sexual) symbols in the movie Marnie!!! :lol:
