I have a great little Welsh cross pony jumper would make a great eventer for a child. I need to find a person or place to free lease him so he can get some more experience in the show ring. I just dont have the time or money right now to show him like he needs to be.

He is currently jumping 3'6 to 3'9 courses, has been jumped higher. I have competed him in the hopeful jumpers through CH/AD jumpers.

He is 13.1h and a beautiful dappled gray. He has great ground manners and great manners undersaddle as well (not you typical pony attitude) He is not strong, but not for a beginner rider either. I would ideally like to lease him to someone/place that would show him in the pony jumpers or CH/AD jumpers or possibly event him.

I am located in NC but, would be willing to let him go to a surrounding state, with references and a contract.

Yes I know I don't have on a helmet, and I know what can happen if I fall off and land on my head, neck, etc... but I don't have one on, and I don't usually so don't set me on fire, and tell me what I already know. Thanks

New pic, Oliver and I showed the 3'6 division at a local stables and he went double clear and won the class. I think there were about 7 in the class.

Hi Savoy,
I am an adult event rider looking for something to lease in Tryon, NC. I don't know how you feel about an adult for the pony, but I am 5'2 and just love those little guys (my first horse was a Connemara/TB cross, 15 hh.). I've evented through Preliminary and would love to get back out there with the jumping and showing. Let me know if you think he'd be too small for me....

Yes, My OTTB is an eventer but its hard for us during Peak season ( June-August) and then nothing in the winter.....

I was always a Hunter/ Jumper rider so eventing is an all new experiance for me, and would still like to atleast get some ring time also.(although getting this guy to do some eventing would'nt be a problem either ) Right now Im just trying to get my OTTB out and get some experiance, So maybe both these guys are on the same page ??

How is he during the winter ? how does he do with just a run in ? Where my current guy is, there are only 2 stalls which are both taken but there is a larger barn where the retired guys stay ( where he would have a stall ) Its not ideal but we work with what we have:) ..... I do however try to keep the guys in work together .....

HAHA just kidding... Boy that pony really cracks his back, huh? He is a DOLL. Loff him. My daughter would be PERFECT - 12-year old, 75-pound D-3 pony clubber who already rides a pistol pony with a lot of jump. Hers is 14 hands though and she almost looks tall on her pony already. Are you SURE this Welshie is ony 13.1? You are 5'8"? That pony of yours sure does fly! http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w120/smay_album/PCeventrally07.jpg

Could he do the hunters and/or jr. eq on a good but local circuit?

Savoy 8

I am pretty sure he is about 13.1 +/- a little I haven't actually put a stick on him yet, but that is my estimate, since I know he is smaller then my 13.3h pony that does have a perm card...

I don't think he moves well enough to do the hunters, and while he jumps nice and tight most of the time with his front and hind end, his style going to the fences does not have any hunter that I can see. But who knows??? I will have the video's of him very soon.

OMG, Savoy, this is no help to you, but if I had room for one more...wow! What a jump on that guy! Not to mention he is adorable...I do love the little guys...and ride them often, at 5'. My horse is barely a horse. ;)

Shoot, what a great little eventer he'd probably make...he looks bold. Have you tried putting up a text ad with the local PC's? Looks like he takes up your leg awfully well if you are 5'8, so would maybe even be good for the teens! How is his flatwork, can he do the dressage enough to get by? I can certainly pass his info on...we're in MD.

Good luck placing him, shocked he hasn't been snapped up. I imagine he'll really be something with some miles on him, whether jumpers or maybe an eventer.

He is great on his flat work!!! he moves off your leg incredibly well!!! he collects and bends, does half passes... He is very brave I think he would enjoy eventing...Christina Trainor (trained Teddy before he went to Karen O Conner) was going to lease him but boards her horses and couldn't figure a way to take Oliver and keep the price down for me... He is super brave I haven't put anything in front of him he wouldn't jump

I'll take two!

If only NC and CA shared a border and I was still a Junior! Too bad we're so far apart - I might know a Jr that'd be great. However, last I heard she grew quite a bit over the summer!

Maybe you should post on the h-j forum to see if you can find a trainer who has kids doing pony jumpers. He's FABULOUS! Emphasize how he'll get some kid qualified for the pony finals--lots of 'em want to go. He looks like he'd almost guarentee his kid a trip.

Has he done the ditches, banks and water stuff for x-c?

I will try that, and see what happens. Thank you for your help, I actually called you about this pony a while ago, and I think I e-mailed you pictures of him as well. Christina Trainor was actually talking to be about it but she is boarding her horses I think and said I would have to pay for him to go to shows, and I just can't do that right now.
I will try the hunter/jumper forum, thanks again

Will he also ride off in a snaffle?

I probably shouldn't even be asking because I'm already, like, in love but I'm in MA so that probably wouldn't work out. :[

So cute.

Oh, alright. Sorry, just saw the pictures and it's a little hard to tell with the graininess in the video.

How far from NC would you be willing for him to go?

Savoy 8

It depends on the person, what they are planning on doing with him, and of course the refrences, I have talked to people in NY... you would have to come to NC and try him out though, so that I can meet you and see you ride.

Hello Savory,

I have seen Oliver twist do a 3'6" divison at a Sedgefield 'A' show in 2009 and I thought how incredible it would be to lease/own him! I have no idea whether he is still availabe or not, but I thought it was worth a try to respond to your post, even though it is from 2007...

I am a 13-year-old girl and I have been riding for eight years. I have jumped 4' before, but it was only a vertical. :) I have four horses currently and I would love to add another one to our herd. :p I would most likely take him to the USEF Pony Finals, along with my other Pony, Heads Up Penny, who we are aiming for the championship as well.

The only thing that might not work is the fact that my parents are divorced and I am only able to ride mt horses half time (I am with my mom for a week and then my dad for a week). All of my horses are at my dad's place in Mocksville, NC. If Oliver is still available, and you still interested in leasing him, then it would be my mom who would be paying for all the shows, etc. I do take lessons with Leigh Ann Coble every chance I get when I am with my mom, so I will have to talk to her about Oliver.

I completely understand if he has already been snatched up, seeing as he is a once in a lifetime kind of pony. If he hasn't, though, I would love for you to send me an e-mail! My e-mail address is ajeast96@gmail.com.

Thank you,

Anna

I didn't expect this post to be brought back up...

I am sorry but, Oliver is currently leased out and has been for a while. He is showing all over the east coast with a wonderful family (couldn't ask for a better lease situation). He may be for lease in the future, so please keep in touch.
