Whats going on? I just see her standing there. Maybe she just got up. Anyone???? Suggestions?? What are you seeing??
avery
Jun. 27, 2007, 06:05 PM
I saw her get down and push about an hour ago. She got up and down several times (more times than is usual for a horse that isn't in labor and in that desperate flopping manner like when they try to stand and just flop someplace else in the stall). At one point when she got up, her tail was near the camera and there was definately stuff coming out but since it's not a video, but still shots taken every 5 seconds, it might have been manure instead of feet. Now she's standing (good sign) and maybe there's a foal on the ground, but I can't see. I'm just hoping someone will call the owner to have her checked out.

I'm not the kind of person who would post that the mare was having a difficult delivery if she wasn't even delivering. Phew, it looks like mare and foal are okay. It wasn't looking good for a minute there which is I why I sounded the alarm. But someone still needs to get through to Gwen to have her check on the two, that BIg ol foal did not come out easily.

I wonder if they switched Sara's cam off and the image we are seeing is of a different mare and foal.
avery
Jun. 27, 2007, 06:18 PM
The foal is new. I was watching around 5 and there was NO baby. Then Sara went into labor around 5:09 (pushing, thrashing) and at one point when she was standing I saw feet poking out. Then she went down and pushed some more for a while and started to look very tired (that's when I posted). Then she got up and was standing there (during the thread). Then she moved and the baby moved and we saw it.
But the point is this mare and foal had a difficult hour and need to be checked. Someone please try to get through. Thanks!

There is no point IM-ing her it is 1 am here and I have skyped her, she is not at the computer. Now Sara is a Palomino mare - the mare looks more like a fewspot mare? If that is the case then the cam would be showing Artemis and her very loudly spotted leopard colt - he was born over a week ago - that would fit the bill - she would not be showing THAT much interest in a foal that age and the foal - when it was walking around, was not looking like a newborn

Black Forest-- Its not the leopard app looking foal, I have him on the web cam on my view there are 4 cams and he is the first one. The mare that I'm watching, and have been since the first post, was down and up alot. if she wasn't having a baby then she was colicking...The mare that everyone is calling white is a palomino mare that looks white due to the ir lights. If you aren't used to seing colors under IR lights it looks odd.. :)

I clicked on the small picture of Sara at the top and then scrolled down to the bottom. The baby looks very small and to me, even though the picture is very hazy, looks like he/she has a white blaze down the center of his face and the rest looks like a light color. He was lying down in the back, and now is up.

On my page the line up of mares at the top goes:
Artemis + colt (the loud spotted foal)
Make-Up + filly (looks like pinto palomino mare)
Sara (the one i have been watching)
morning light (no foal)
You have to click on the little cam box at the top to get the big cam box at the bottom to show the mare you want. It is Artemis + colt by default.

Okay---now that HNH explained how to use their website/cam I realized that many of us have been looking at the bigger picture and seeing Artemis and her leopard-spotted colt---which explains why he can aget up and about so easily, looks too filled out to be a newborn, and why mom is not a "nervous-Nelly" about his every move.

She MIGHT have passed the placenta a short while ago. It looked like something was hanging out and she had her tail lifted, but it was really hard to tell if it was a shadow or a placenta. Foal also has not had umbilical cord treated and mom really doesn't seem interested in the foal. My mare licked her foal for hours. It is 4 a.m. now. I will probably be up anoher couple of hours at least so hopefully will see someone come into the stall. Maybe Gwen is away and someone else was supposed to be checking on the mares (just a thought).

Now when my power goes out so does the cordless phone, and the ALARM. If she is in an exhausted stupor from foal watch and has no phone.on or alarm......
Ok, does anyone know anyone who might have an alternate # for her? or what vet she uses. If we contacted the vet on call and told him/her what was up....

Hi all,
thanks for caring about Sara. The phone did not work all yesterday and the computer crashed so I could not set up the streaming video, nor did I receive all the phone call. just now could hear all messages on the answering machine. The 5-6 second pictures does not let you see all and easily especially if the light is turned off.
All went well thankfully as I had waiting in front of the TV but unfortunately the movie was not good to keep me awake and I slept away. With the phone not working I did not even receive the calls. That could have gone totally bad. But thankfully didn't.
The baby is healthy and so is mom. It is a huge leopard colt.

Well this night I could barely sleep due to all the story the night before. Hope Morgenlicht has it soon to give me some rest before the last one is born. The last one will be out of my ever first Palomino foal that I bred, Wembley. Her dam was Fandango, my first ever broodmare. Wembley, the Palomino mare was born 1985, her sister Frou-Frou, a dark bay was born in 1982. 25 years of breeding now, that sounds soooo long.
