The U.S. Hunter Jumper Association High Performance Hunter Committee developed the USHJA International Hunter Derby to bring the art and tradition of horsemanship back to the show ring.

Jersey Boy Banks Another Derby Win In Wellington

Wellington, Fla., April 2

Jersey Boy and Jennifer Alfano came to the FTI Winter Equestrian Festival for one reason and one reason only: to win the $50,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby. And sure enough, Alfano and Jersey Boy will bring another blue rosette back to Buffalo, N.Y., for SBS Farms.

Empire Takes Over In $50,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby

Wellington, Fla., April 1

Scott Stewart entered the Eugene R. Mische Ring six times during today’s first round of the $50,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby, and by the end of the day he’d ended up with two of the top 12 ribbons.

WCHR Hunter Classic Spectacular Returns To Original Format In 2012

Representatives from the FTI Winter Equestrian Festival announced March 19 that, after having taken into account input from hunter riders and trainers, the World Championship Hunter Rider Palm Beach Hunter Classic Spectacular would return to the original format. The 2012 Spectacular will be a one-night event, held on Saturday evening during Week 6 of the 2012 WEF.

During a packed press conference on March 16 at the White Horse Tavern in Wellington, Fla., developer Mark Bellissimo and dressage legend Robert Dover announced plans for an ambitious new facility in Wellington that will cater specifically to the dressage community and further establish Wellington as the “equine destination of the world.”

Castle Rock Reigns Over WCHR Palm Beach Hunter Classic Spectacular

Ask Louise Serio to describe the ideal hunter, and the answer’s right at the tip of her tongue: Castle Rock.

She’s not being immodest to name the horse she campaigns for Bryan Baldwin as the two-word description to that much larger question. The judges of the $32,875 World Champion Hunter Rider Palm Beach Professional Hunter Classic Spectacular confirmed that opinion on Feb. 18. They awarded Castle Rock the top check in the biggest class of WCHR week at the FTI Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, Fla., Feb. 16-20.

Quick Study Goes To Top Of The Class In $150,000 Wellington Equestrian Realty Grand Prix

Wellington, Fla., March 6

With 12 of the top horses in the world racing for the top check, Lauren Hough knew she’d have to make some moves to win.

And that’s just what she did, racing around the turns and daring Quick Study at the jumps. The veteran bay answered her call and flew across the ground and jumped out of his skin to take the top check in the $150,000 Wellington Equestrian Realty Grand Prix. She shaved a half a second off Nick Skelton’s leading time for the blue.
