C. Quito Hits The Big Time At The Pennsylvania National

Harrisburg, Pa., Oct. 21

For Ariana Snowdon, just attending the Pennsylvania National fulfilled a lifelong dream. The fact that her horse, C. Quito, scored the regular conformation championship after a long trek from Jackson Hole, Wyo., simply served as the icing on the cake.

Lone Star Wrangles A Big Win

Harrisburg, Pa., Oct. 19

Hunt Tosh knew he’d have his work cut out for him as he headed into the ring aboard Lone Star for the regular working handy hunter class at the Pennsylvania National. After two rounds and a flat phase, Barnhill and Schaefer were even in the eyes of the judges, George Morris and Julie Winkel. So, they brought both girls to the center of the ring, and had them dismount and trade horses, without assistance.

The 2010 Pessoa/USEF Medal Finals Course

George Morris and Julie Winkel have set a classically straightforward course for the Pessoa/USEF Medal Finals. There are only 10 jumps in the ring, and they’re all plain, hunter type jumps, with minimal filler and a natural look. There is the infamous narrow wood coop, set with just a few bushes as wings, at the end of the ring. And it’s jumped twice, once off each lead. That jump always causes a few drive-bys.

Karen Polle Pulls It Off For Gold In Individual Junior Jumpers

Harrisburg, Pa.—Oct. 16

Karen Polle and Taylor Land jumped clean all week long in the Randolph College/USEF Junior Jumper Championships to finish in a dead heat for the individual title tonight. So, they had to jump off for the gold, and then neither one of them could keep the rails in the cups. But Polle prevailed, adding the individual gold to the team title she’d earned with Zone 2 the night before.
