Journey To The WEG: Rebecca Hart Has A Medal On Her Mind

The Horse Radio Network and the United States Para Equestrian Association are hosting the first ever Para-Webathon tonight from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. (EDT). The purpose is to raise money and awareness for the U.S. Para-Equestrian athletes aiming to compete in the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games.

Webathon Will Raise Money For Para-Equestrian WEG Team

The U.S. Para-Equestrian Association, the Horse Radio Network and the 2010 Radio Show will host a webathon to raise money and provide awareness for the U.S. Para-Equestrian team on June 8 from 7-9 p.m. EDT.

A live video will stream the telethon to websites across the country. Glenn the Geek of the Horse Radio Network, Samantha Clark, and para-equestrian Susan Treabess will host the event.

British Impress At Paralympic Games

The U.S. team finishes 10th, with Rebecca Hart taking a fourth.

Michael Phelps may have won eight medals in one Olympic Games, but the British assault on the Paralympic medals in equestrian was equally impressive. Maybe more so.

Ten medals—five gold and five silver—and a convincing team win left the rest of the world scratching their heads as to how anyone could beat the British machine.

Walk On The Moon Does It All

David O’Connor and Joe Zada purchased Walk On The Moon in 2002, with the thought of a trip to Hong Kong in 2008 well within the realm of possibility. “Danny” made the trip, just not in the capacity anyone would have guessed six years ago.

“He was bred to jump,” said O’Connor. “He’s a very good jumper and good mover, but he doesn’t have a true gallop, which stops him from being an upper-level horse, so he just does everything else.”

Hart Heads To Hong Kong With A Win At Lamplight

This young equestrian reigned over her competitors for three days to capture another title.

The pressure was doubled for Rebecca Hart at the USEF Para Equestrian National Championships and Paralympic Selection Trials, held concurrently at the Lamplight Equestrian Center in Wayne, Ill., May 17-18.

Hart wasn’t only competing for the championship title but also for one of the six slots on the 2008 U.S. Paralympic Equestrian Team.

Riders travelling to an international competition are usually prepared for most things; long delays, problems with paperwork or a forgotten essential item are all too common complications.
