Jessica Phoenix Recovering From Serious Fall At Jersey Fresh

Canadian Olympian Jessica Phoenix was seriously injured in a fall on the CCI** cross-country course at the Jersey Fresh International Horse Trials in Allentown, N.J., on May 9.

Phoenix was riding Exultation, an 11-year-old Thoroughbred gelding (Sea Wall—Peek A Boo Ruckus) that has been competing at the two-star level since last year.

Phoenix, 31, Cannington, Ontario, was the second rider of the day out on cross-country in the CCI** and was sitting in 16th place after dressage.

Reggie Racks Up A Jersey Fresh CCI*** Win

Allentown, N.J. - May 10   

For all the places Ballynoe Castle RM has been around the world with Buck Davidson and all the blue ribbons they’ve brought home, surprisingly, the gelding has never won a CCI at any level.

So to earn the Jersey Fresh CCI*** win today was special to Davidson, not only for that reason, but because his entire support team was in attendance, including owners Carl and Cassie Segal and his mother, Carol.

Cyrano Leads The Entire Weekend in the Jersey Fresh CCI**

Allentown, N.J.—May 10

Sometimes the sport loves you and other times not so much. Today, eventing was a fan of Michael Pollard’s. The Dalton, Ga., rider topped the CCI** at the Jersey Fresh International today with Cyrano with no rails in the show jumping to finish on their dressage score (36.90).

In previous years, Jersey Fresh hasn’t always been friendly to Pollard. Last year he was leading the CCI*** with Ballingowan Pizazz when he retired on cross-country once he realized the horse had nothing left to offer.

All But One Horse Pass Final Inspection At Jersey Fresh CCI

Allentown, N.J.-- May 10

The final horse inspection concluded this morning for the CCI** and CCI*** divisions at the Jersey Fresh International.

All 21 horses presented in the CCI*** passed. In the CCI**, 24 horses were presented. Sarah Wilson and Ovation W were sent to the holding box but passed on reinspection.

Madeline Backus and P.S. Arianna were sent to the holding box and were not passed upon reinspection. They were in 25th place after cross-country after jumping clear and adding .8 time penalties.

Landmark’s Monte Carlo Flies Under The Radar At Jersey Fresh

Allentown, N.J.—May 9

Stand near a combination anywhere on the cross-country course at the Jersey Fresh International and you’ll probably hear Lauren Kieffer exclaiming “Good boy! Good boy!” as she whizzes past on Landmark’s Monte Carlo.

“He feeds off that a lot,” she said after the pair took top honors in the CIC*** this weekend. “I’m not a huge talker cross-country but with him it helps him a lot. He’s like ‘OK! OK!’ ”
