Stewart Repeats His WCHR Pro Challenge Victory

Upper Marlboro, Md.—Oct. 5

Sometimes when all the stars align, lightning strikes twice. That’s exactly what happened for Scott Stewart and Catch Me in the WCHR Professional Challenge held during the Capital Challenge Horse Show.

The pair put in two spectacular rounds, besting their winning performance from last year with scores from all three judging panels across both rounds in the 90s for a 188.66 total.

“It feels awesome,” said Stewart. “I though that that was probably one of the best rounds that I’ve ever had on any horse.”

Ward Wins the WCHR Junior Challenge

Upper Marlboro, Md.—Oct. 4

Going into the World Championships Hunter Rider Junior 3’6” Challenge, Morgan Ward knew she had to turn in a good round. She won one of the 3’6” junior hunter division classes earlier in the week, but a less than stellar performance yesterday found Ward wanting to deliver a great ride.

“Yesterday I didn’t have the best round, so I owed my horse a good round going into today,” explained Ward. "He sure helped me out a lot [yesterday]. I thought this round went really, really well and he jumped awesome.”

Upper Marlboro, Md.—Oct. 3

Coming out of the ring after her victory gallop, Farah Rizvi was all smiles, pleased with her pony’s winning result in the World Champion Hunter Rider Pony Challenge. Rizvi rode Trillville, owned by her family’s Peacock Ridge LLC to the top, followed by Kathryn McCarthy aboard Prince Charming in second, and Adam Edgar and One More Time in third.

“Trill” is an experienced pony, with Ashton Alexander and Meredith Darst having ridden him in previous years.

It’s Stewart Again At WCHR Pro Finals

Upper Marlboro, Md.—Oct 2.

If you look at the WCHR Pro Finals solely based on numbers Scott Stewart definitely has an advantage. He’s competed in the class 16 times, more than any other competitor, and this was his 11th consecutive appearance. And then you might notice that he’s won it five times.

Well make that six because Stewart topped the class tonight.

The Flemington, N.J.-based trainer paired up with Reality, a stallion owned by Alexa and Kristin Weisman. The horse has been a go-to mount for Stewart—he rode the same horse last year.

Schaefer Finds Her Rhythm In WCHR Amateur-Owner Challenge

Upper Marlboro, Md.—Oct. 1

After she’d been awarded a boatload of prizes as the winner of the WCHR Amateur-Owner Challenge and the grand amateur-owner championship with Classified at Capital Challenge, Samantha Schaefer wanted one thing.

A picture with all of her ribbons.

So she piled the ribbons and neck sashes back onto the Hanoverian gelding and exclaimed, “I’m an amateur now, so I have to do this.”
