Cruciotti Gets It Done At Capital Challenge

Upper Marlboro, Md.—Sept. 27   

As Kelli Cruciotti’s horse Darius was walking away from the ring after the awards ceremony, he was spooked by his championship ribbons from his victory in the Private Tutoring Services North American Junior Equitation Championships. A fairly green horse, the 7-year-old warmblood of unrecorded breeding hadn’t had a lot of experience with the equitation division. So, coming into the medal final, Cruciotti was hoping to gain experience for her new mount, and was surprised to come away with the win.

Ransom Takes No Prisoners In WCHR Junior Challenge

Upper Marlboro, Md.—Oct. 5

Sure Ransom was a pre-green horse getting his feet wet in the show ring just last year, and Capital Challenge marked his very first indoor, but with Vivian Yowan up, there was enough confidence to go around for the two of them. 

Yowan piloted the bay gelding to the top of the World Champion Hunter Rider Junior Challenge over 32 other competitors, scoring a 92, 90 and 89.

Sophie Gochman Earns The Blue In The WCHR Pony Challenge

Upper Marlboro Md.—Oct. 4  

When Sophie Gochman walked out of the ring aboard Truly Noble after their round in the WCHR Pony Challenge at Capital Challenge Horse Show in Upper Marlboro, Md., this afternoon, she beamed with pride.

She had already won the medium pony hunter class early in the day, and put in another impressive round to claim victory against small, medium and large ponies alike in the challenge class.

Farmer Takes Her Turn For WCHR Pro Finals Title

Upper Marlboro, Md.—Oct. 3     

Besides the only rookie in the competition, Tara Metzner, Kelley Farmer was the only professional who competed in the World Champion Hunter Rider Pro Finals at the Capital Challenge Horse Show that hadn't won the title before.

"It's a relief!" she said with a laugh. "My horse [Mindful] won tonight. He's an amazing animal, and I could not have done it without that horse."

Lumiere Lights Up For Gaston In WCHR Amateur-Owner Challenge

Upper Marlboro, Md.—Oct. 2    

Jane Gaston was fighting tears as she hopped off Lumiere with a look of gratitude, helped put on his scrim and walked out of the indoor arena at the Capital Challenge Horse Show, but it wasn’t only because they’d just led the victory gallop in the World Champion Hunter Rider amateur-owner 3’6” challenge.
