Cooper And Jennie Need Our Help

Jennie Brannigan’s talented international three-day event horse Cooper had an unfortunate accident during the show jumping phase of the Fair Hill International three-day event on October 18, 2009. The resulting injury required surgery on his tendon and a subsequent colic surgery. The goal is a full recovery, but the expenses for these procedures are daunting, and insurance will not cover everything.

An Update On Cooper

I think the ups and downs of horses are something that we all know about. We either learn before getting into the sport or shortly after. Any rider or trainer is willing to hand out stories of horses that have died or come back from awful situations.

A Dip In The Water Jump

It has been quite the busy past week preparing for Fair Hill and competing at the Morven Park Horse Trials. I am currently in Middleburg at the training sessions with Capt. Mark Phillips this week. Morven had its ups and downs with Cooper finishing third in the advanced and looking ready for Fair Hill.

Cambalda unfortunately had quite the spill cross-country when he misjudged the landing on the backside of a jump re-entering the water. He was jumping around like a champ too, so I was quite upset about this.

Toughing It Out

Here I sit again in the airport waiting for a flight to Vermont, where I am picking up a bigger truck to haul my huge trailer. Seems to be the only free time I have these days!

The past two weeks have been busy as Plantation Field Horse Trials and CIC were on, and we are getting ready for Fair Hill.

Plantation went really well, and Phillip won the three-star on Jan Byyny's horse, Inmidair. I like to call him "Little Sid" because he reminds me of Jan's other horse Syd Kent because of the way he jumps!

Good Times At The AECs

Hello all!

Well the whirlwind of competing and traveling all over the place continued at the American Eventing Championships this weekend. It was a really fun event! Though the weekend had its ups and downs, I have to say that I learned a bit and had a wonderful time!

Burghley Report

I'm sitting in the airport in Boston right now, waiting for my 5:30 am flight to get back to the barn to ride, and I'm feeling very, very lucky. This weekend was amazing and not just because Phillip was incredible (Milo as well). I learned so much being at the event and was in awe of how big it was!

Keeping The Barn In Order

Here I sit on a plane to England again, and this time without my horse. I'm really looking forward to getting to Burghley and seeing all the action! Especially since Phillip is currently winning after the first day of dressage, and everyone at the barn is so excited.

This week has been quite busy, as always. We've all been tightening out belts with big Phil and Emma being gone. I must say I've enjoyed getting to ride the likes of Kheops du Quesnay and Woodburn. I hope that they feel top notch when big Phil gets home!

Burghley Bound

Hello everyone,

All the hot shots are over in England at the moment, and I have to say that I'm chomping at the bit to get across the pond.  Phillip, Emma and Milo are getting ready for Burghley, and things are in full swing at TPF. I'm definitely missing some skin on my legs, but it is well worth it to be sitting on all the amazing horses we have at the barn.

A Good Weekend All Around

Greetings again from the truck on the drive back from Richland Park. It was quite the weekend. Team TPF had a good one, that's for sure! Phillip was third in the three-star, and Woodburn jumped unreal today.
