The irresponsibility of HITS

Once again, not that the horseshow world needed another example, we get an example of the endless greed of Tom Stuzzieri and HITS. Rather than take effective measures to contain any possible epidemic and protect the horses and the financial and emotional investments their owners have in them, HITS sends the infected horse off to UF and the shows goes on, except for one tent and its residents being quarantined---anyone know how close theses barn tents are? Anyone realize the interconnected wash racks, lunging rings, paddocks, show rings, schooling rings, walkways, etc.? I called the HITS Ocala show office on the morning word of such infection spread like wildfire. They refused to identify the horse, its owner, the location from which it had arrived at the showgrounds, when it had arrived at the showgrounds, whether it had competed and if so the shows and classes in which it had competed. All of this information was sitting in the HITS computers re the infected horse as it is re my horses. "HITS" takes on a whole new meaning---Head In The Sand. All for the benefit of Struzzieri's bank account and the detriment of the horses and their owners. Will the horse community EVER wake up to this?

Ok...didnt want this to have happened when I put enteries in with a deadline and have to prepay stalls..paddocks ect...but under the circumstances for what has happened is unfortunate but seriosly this in a situation that should not have had happened..i make sure I have a neg coggins and a up to date health certificate to be able to cross the boarder but a Floridian horse doesnt have to show anything to just show up and show...WTF....seriously I checked out and I am appauled to say the reason for leaving was because we felt for the reason for horses and not to be quarentined to stay in the state for 21 days...I think we made humaan decision for all parties for animal and owner...we are a big fan to compete in Fla and Saugerties but i was appauled for the fact that knowing we would never get our stall fees back which we know he had to order in advance but the fact that that we had to pay scrach fees on horses we didnt even enter was disgusting...this is what you have insurance for Tom.. be good everyone ane keep them as an equl...sorry but disappointed I know you are stressed but understand the rest of us too by meeting half way....
